벽에 충돌하는 디젤분무의 특성에 대한 수치적 연구 (Numerical study for the characteristics of diesel spray impinging on a wall)

  • It is unavoidable that the fuel spray impinges on the wall of piston cavity in a compact high-pressure D.I. diesel engine. Therefore the characteristics of impinging spray are the very significant information on the consideration and the simulation of its combustion processes including the formation mechanism of exhaust emission and the design of the combustion chamber. In this paper, the numerical simulation was performed to study the characteristics of impinging spray. The spray-wall impingement model used is Watkins and Park's model. Calculation parameters are the inclination angles and the ambient pressures. As the inclination angle increases, the impinging spray develops mainly to the direction of the downstream and scarcely flows to that of the upstream. The shape on the wall of the impinging spray is the circle in the case of the normal impingement, while it is the ellipse in that of the oblique impingement. As the ambient pressure increases, the growth of impinging spray on the wall in the radial direction decreases owing to the increase in the resistance of the ambient.

민간항공기개발 시스템엔지니어링 적용 연구 (A Study on the System Engineering Application to KC-100 Aircraft Development)

  • KC-100(KAI Civil Aircraft, Small Series) aircraft is 4 seats general aviation aircraft with single piston engine which is developing under FAA part 23 category by Korea Aerospace Industries(KAI) and will be a shadow program for civil aircraft safety infrastructure improvement. This aircraft will be the first civil aircraft developed in Korea meeting the Korean regulatory KAS Part 23 requirements. Type certification for KC-100 aircraft was applied at the second half of this year. The type certificate is expected to be issued after 3 years of design, prototype manufacturing, ground and flight tests. In this paper the system engineering process for civil aircraft was first reviewed. Next, the differences and similarities in the system development between military and civil aircraft were systematically examined using experiences for KAI military aircraft development program.

  • 연소불안정현상은 주로 음향파와 열방출률 섭동간의 상호작용에 의해 발생한다고 알려져 있다. 이러한 현상은 헬름홀츠 공진기와 같은 수동제어기를 사용하여 감소시킬 수 있다. 그러나 헬름홀츠 공진기는 일반적으로 좁은 주파수대역에 대해서만 효과가 있는 단점을 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 작동 범위에서 효과를 가질 수 있도록 피스톤을 사용하여 헬름홀츠 공진기의 부피를 변화시켜가며 연소불안정현상에 적용하였다. 그 결과 피스톤을 최적위치에 동조시킴으로써 연소 불안정 모드의 진폭을 감소시킬 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 능동적으로 동조되는 수동제어방식의 가능성에 대해서 알아보고자 한다.

흡입밸브 각이 실린더 내 와류 발생 특성에 미치는 영향(I) (Effect of Inlet Valve Angle on In-Cylinder Swirl Generation Characteristics(I))

  • This paper is the first of 2 companion papers which investigate in-cylinder swirl generation characteristics according to inlet valve angle. Two DOHC 4 valve engines, one has wide intake valve angle and the other has narrow valve angle, were used to compare the characteristics of swirl motion generation in the cylinder. One intake port was deactivated to induce swirl flow. A PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) was applied to measure in-cylinder velocity field according to inlet valve angle during intake stroke. The results show that the stronger swirl motion is observed in wide valve angle engine at the early intake stage; however, the swirl motion is gradually distorted by the intake flow component passing through valve area near the cylinder wall as the stroke proceeds. The tumble motion also does so in wide angle. On the contrary, the swirl and tumble motions, which are not clear at the initial stage, become better and better arranged as the piston goes down and up again after bottom dead center.

  • In this study, localized development of a submerged cryogenic pump for use in LNG containers is conducted with large-sized commercial vehicles as the target. The submerged pump installed in an LNG storage container is the key module that supplies fuel to the engine through the reciprocating motion of a piston. Research and development on 660-L fuel containers is performed herein. The target is to achieve a mileage of 600 km or more by applying it to major NGV vehicles worldwide. In this manner, the present study aims to verify the operating mechanisms of the major parts of currently advanced products through reverse engineering in the early development process and draw basic design data.

해상용 경유의 희석량에 따른 선박용 윤활유의 유변학적 거동연구 (Rheological behavior study of Marine Lubricating oil on the amount of MGO (Marine Gas Oil) dilution)

  • 본 연구에서는 해상용 경유의 희석량에 따른 선박용 윤활유의 점도 및 전단응력의 변화 등 유변학적 거동에 대한 연구를 하였다. 연료희석에 의한 윤활유의 점도감소는 피스톤링 및 라이너의 마모로 인한 엔진내구성을 저하키는 중요한 요소이다. 연구에 사용된 윤활유는 고유황 경유(황함유량 0.05 %)를 3 %, 6 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %로 희석하여 magnetic stirrer를 이용, 혼합하여 제조하였다. 측정온도는 $-10^{\circ}C{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ 범위로 설정하고, 점도 및 전단응력 변화는 회전점도계인 Brookfield Viscometer를 이용하여 측정하였다. 윤활유에 해상용 경유의 희석량이 증가할수록 점도 및 전단응력이 감소하며, 이것은 상대적으로 낮은 점도의 해상용 경유가 윤활유에 희석됨에 따라 윤활유의 점도 및 전단응력이 낮아지기 때문이다. 특히, 저온($0{\sim}-10^{\circ}C$)에서는 점도 및 전단응력이 급격이 낮아지다가, $40^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 점도 및 전단응력 감소가 해상용 경유 희석량의 영향을 거의 받지 않는다. 온도가 높아짐에 따라, 윤활유의 점도 및 전단응력 감소는 윤활유의 뉴턴유체 거동을 보이는 것을 확인했다. 경유의 혼입에 의한 점도감소로 선박의 엔진마모를 촉진할 수 있으므로 엔진의 내구성 향상을 위해 윤활유의 주기적인 관리가 필요하다.

항공기용 유압 펌프의 맥동 압력에 의한 감쇄기 용접부위 균열 개선 연구 (The Vibration Effect by Induced Pulsation Pressure to the Fatigue Crack of the Dampener Fitting Welding Zone)

  • 항공기는 운용 중에 엔진, 유압펌프, 공력 등에 의한 진동 환경에 노출이 되어 기계구조와 각종 구성품이 고주기 피로로 인해 균열이나 파괴가 될 수 있다. 통상적으로 항공기용 유압 펌프는 액셜 피스톤 타입이 주로 적용되고 있으며, 펌프의 특성상 연속적인 회전에 의한 유량 맥동 발생은 필연적으로 수반된다. 이러한 유압펌프 맥동에 의한 진동을 감소시키기 위해 설치된 Dampener Fitting의 용접 부위에서 균열이 발생하였다. 용접 부위 균열의 원인 파악을 위해 파단면 분석 및 성분분석을 수행하였고, 균열 방지를 위한 설계 개선사항으로 일체형 Fitting 가공 방식을 적용하였다. 일체형 Fitting의 적용 타당성에 대한 설계검증을 위해 구조건전성 응력 해석, 피로수명 해석, 인증시험 및 항공기 체계 장착 시험을 수행하였다. 개선방안에 대한 해석 결과 재료의 요구수명 및 각종 시험의 요구조건에 만족하는 결과를 얻었으며, 개선방안을 운영 항공기에 적용 할 수 있는 것을 객관적으로 검증하였다.

이동질량장치와 부력엔진을 포함한 무인 수중글라이더의 동역학 모델링 및 운동성능 해석 (Dynamic Modeling and Motion Analysis of Unmanned Underwater Gliders with Mass Shifter Unit and Buoyancy Engine)

  • Underwater gliders do not have any external propulsion systems that can generate and control their motion. Generally, underwater gliders would obtain a propulsive force through the lift force generated on the body by a fluid. Underwater gliders should be equipped with mechanisms that can induce heave and pitch motions. In this study, an inner movable and rotatable mass mechanism was proposed to generate the pitch and roll motions of an underwater glider. In addition, a buoyancy control unit was presented to adjust the displacement of the underwater glider. The buoyancy control unit could generate the heave motion of the underwater glider. In order to analyze the underwater dynamic behavior of this system, nonlinear 6-DOF dynamic equations that included mathematical models of the inner movable mass and buoyancy control unit were derived. Only kinematic characteristics such as the location of the inner movable mass and the piston position of the buoyancy control unit were considered because the velocities of these systems are very slow. The effectiveness of the proposed dynamic modeling was verified through sawtooth and spiraling motion simulations.

KC-100 민간항공기 체계안전성 평가 (System Safety Assessment for KC-100 Civil Aircraft)

  • KC-100 is a 4 seats, single piston engine, civil aircraft whose type certificate is applied for KAS 23 (FAR 23) for the first time in Korea. Its system safety assessment and analysis have been conducted to meet the minimum safety requirement in KAS 23 and to verify the safety of equipment, system, and installation in accordance with the requirement of ${\S}$23.1309 and the guidelines in FAA AC 23.1309-1D and SAE ARP 4761. This safety assessment begins with the FHA (Functional Hazard Assessment) at aircraft and system level in preliminary design phase, and all of the safety assessment and analysis reports including the preliminary version of SSA (System Safety Assessment) have been prepared during detail design phase. The revised version of these safety reports will be approved by Airworthiness Authority through the ground and flight test phases. In this paper, the safety assessment requirement in ${\S}$23.1309, safety assessment guideline in AC 23.1309-1D, and safety assessment and analysis methods in ARP 4761 will be explained based on the application example for KC-100 development. The experience and knowledge of this system safety assessment for civil aircraft can be applied to commuter aircraft of FAR 23 class or large transport airplane of FAR 25 class.

AC8A 알루미늄합금 주조재의 열처리에 의한 특성 평가 (Evaluation of the Characteristics of the Aluminum Alloy Casting Material by Heat Treatment)

  • Aluminum is on active metal, but it is well known that its oxide film plays a role as protective barrier which is comparatively stable in air and neutral aqueous solution. Thus, aluminum alloys have been widely applied in architectural trim, cold & hot-water storage vessels and piping etc., furthermore, the aluminum alloy of AC8A have been widely used in mold casting material of engine piston because of its properties of temperature and wear resistance. In recent years, the oil price is getting higher and higher, thus the using of low quality oil has been significantly increased in engines of ship and vehicle. Therefore it is considered that evaluation of corrosion resistance as well as wear resistance of AC8A material is also important to improve its property and prolong its lifetime. In this study, the effect of solution and tempering heat treatment to corrosion and wear resistance is investigated with electrochemical method and measurement of hardness. The hardness decreased with solution heat treatment compared to mold casting condition, but its value increased with tempering heat treatment and exhibited the highest value of hardness with tempering heat treatment temperature at $190^{\circ}C$ for 24hrs. Furthermore, corrosion resistance increased with decreasing of the hardness, and decreased with increasing of the hardness reversely. As a result, it is suggested that the optimum heat treatment to improve both corrosion and wear resistance is tempering heat treatment temperature at $190^{\circ}C$ for 16hrs.
