원자로 내부구조물과 노심의 동적해석을 위한 핵연료집합체의 모델링 (Fuel Assembly Modelling for Dynamic Analysis of Reactor Internals and Core)

  • 본 논문은 배관파단에 대한 원자로 내부구조물의 해석시 사용되는 원자로 내부구조물과 노심의 커플(couple)된 모델에서 핵연료집합체의 grouping수에 따른 동적 응답의 영향을 조사한 것이다. 177개의 핵연료집합체를 1, 3, 5 그리고 7개의 그룹으로 나누어 모델링 하였고 그 각각에 대한 응답을 구하였다. 해석결과 원자로 내부구조물과 핵연료집합체의 배관파단에 대한 응답은 핵연료집합체의 grouping수에 거의 영향을 받지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 핵연료집합체의 해석시 사용되는 상세모델에서 2개 이상의 이웃하는 핵 연료다발을 하나의 등가모델로 나타내는 방법을 연구한 결과 집합체의 1차모드 주파수와 일치하는 등가스프링을 사용하고 각 핵연료다발사이의 간격을 그대로 유지했을 때의 모델이 원래의 응답과 가장 잘 일치함을 보였다.

AMBIDEXTER 원자력 복합체 - 신뢰성 있는 미래 원자력에너지 이용 방안 (AMBIDEBTER Nuclear Complex - A Credible Option for Future Nuclear Energy Applications)

  • Aiming at one of decisive alternatives for long term aspect of nuclear power concerns, an integral and closed nuclear system, AMBIDEXTER (Advanced Molten-salt Break-even Inherently-safe Dual-mission Experimental and TEst Reactor) concept is under development. The AMBIDEXTER complex essentially comprises two mutually independent loops of the radiation/material transport and the heat/energy conversion, centered at the integrated reactor assembly, which enables one to utilize maximum benefits of nuclear energy under minimum risks of nuclear radiation. And it provides precious radioisotopes and radiation sources from its waste stream. Also the reactor operates at very low level of fission products inventory throughout its lifetime. The nuclear and thermalhydraulic characteristics of the molten TH/$^{233}$ U fuel salt extend the capability of the self-sustaining AMBIDEXTER fuel cycle to enhance resource security and safeguard transparency. The reactor system is consisted of a single component module of the core, heat exchangers and recirculation pumps with neither pipe connections nor active valves in between, which will significantly improve inherent features of nuclear safety. States of the core technologies associated with designing and developing the AMBIDEXTER concept are mostly available in commercialized form and thus demonstration of integral aspects of the concept should be the prime area in future R&D programs.

SMART 유동혼합헤더집합체의 동수력 질량 특성 고찰 (Investigation of Hydrodynamic Mass Characteristic for Flow Mixing Header Assembly in SMART)

  • In SMART, the flow mixing header assembly (FMHA) is used to mix the coolant flowing into the reactor core to maintain a uniform temperature. The FMHA is designed to have enough stiffness so the resonance with reactor internal structures does not occurs during the pipe break and the seismic accidents. Since the gap between the FMHA and the core support barrel assembly is very narrow compared with the diameter of FMHA, the hydrodynamic mass effect acting on the FMHA is not negligible. Therefore the hydrodynamic mass characteristics on the FMHA are investigated to consider the fluid and structure interaction effects. The result of modal analysis for the dry and underwater conditions, the natural frequency of primary vibration mode for the horizontal direction is reduced from 136.67 Hz to 43.76 Hz. Also the result of frequency response spectrum seismic analysis for the dry and underwater conditions, the maximum equivalent stress are increased from 13.89 MPa to 40.23 MPa. Therefore, reactor internal structures located in underwater condition shall consider carefully the hydrodynamic mass effects even though they have sufficient stiffness required for performing its functions under the dry condition.

  • When back-out & firing Process applies heat, hume is piled up in exhaust duct by organic compound and it have high dangerousness. There by, the process is happening a lot of damage that is exhaust duct fire. However we do not have certain fire dangerousness estimation and digestion countermeasure. So we need preventive measure. Back-out & firing is a process which has fine structure, electrical and mechanical characteristics, such as firing kiln and back-out kiln which has pipe line and box type. The box oven is made of heating coil, fan motor and control panel. Back-out & firing process has air circulation institution of quick ventilation type. When we operate this process for long time, fire can break out easily. Duct is made by zinc shredder. If fire breaks out in duct inside, fire by deposit fume can be dispersed easily. Accordinglym, This project estimate danger for back-out & firing process exhaust duct through real fire test. And there is purpose of study to establish preventive measure.

단방향 플러싱에 의한 입자성 물질의 제거에 관한 연구 (A study on the removal of particulate matters using unidirectional flushing)

  • Particulate matters in a water distribution system are main causes of turbidity and discoloration of tap water. They could be removed by conventional or uni-directional flushing in a water distribution system. The behaviors and required flow velocity of particles are not well known for their flushing. A model water main and hydrant were made from transparent acrylic pipe of 30mm and 16mm in diameter, respectively. We analyzed the effect of flushing velocity, particle density, and particle diameter. We found that the existence of break-though velocities at which particles begin to be removed, and which are affected by their physical properties. The removal efficiencies seemed to be influenced by resuspension capabilities related to their upward movement from the bottom. Heavy particles like scale were hard to remove through upflow hydrant because the falling velocity, calculated using Stokes' law, was higher. Particle removal efficiencies of upward hydrant and downward drain showed minor differences. Additionally, the length between hydrant and control valve affected flushing efficiency because the particulate matters were trapped in this space by inertia and recirculating flow.

공기 유압식 브레이크 라인 파손 사례 및 파손 분석 연구 (A Case Study on Failure and Analysis of Air Over Hydraulic Brake Line)

  • In this case study, the brake line failure of air over hydraulic(AOH) brake system is described. AOH brake system is applied to commercial vehicles between 5 to 8 tons. It consists of a hydraulic system using compressed air and operates the air master to form hydraulic pressure to transfer braking power to the wheels. When the brake lines of the system applied to vehicles with high load capacity are damaged, the braking force of one shaft is lost, and the braking distance increases rapidly, leading to a big accident. Failure of the brake line occurs due to various causes such as road surface fragmentation, corrosion of the line, and aged deterioration of air brake hose. The braking force could be decreased even when a very small break in the form of a pin-hole occurs. However, it is difficult to find a part where the thickness of the line is thin due to stone pecking or corrosion generated in the pin-hole formed on the brake line located under the lower part of the vehicle by the sensory evaluation or the conventional braking force test. Accordingly, it is necessary to analyze the condition and cause of the failure of the brake line more precisely when the accident investigation of the heavy vehicles, and also to examine the necessity of the advanced test for the aged brake line.

Modeling of Liquid Entrainment and Vapor Pull-Through in Header-Feeder Pipes of CANDU

  • The liquid entrainment and vapor pull-through offtake model of RELAP5/MOD3 had been developed for SBLOCA (Small Break Loss of Coolant Accident). The RELAP5/MOD3 model for horizontal volumes accounts for the phase separation phenomena and computes the flux of mass and energy through a branch when stratified conditions occur in the horizontal pipe. In the case of CANDU reactor, this model should be used in the coolant flow of 95 feeders connected to the reactor header component under the horizontal stratification in header. The current RELAP5 model can treat the only 3 directions junctions; vertical upward, downward, and side oriented junctions, and thus improvements for the liquid entrainment and vapor pull-through model were needed for considering the exact angles. The RELAP5 off-take model was modified and generalized by considering the geometric effect of branching angles. Based on the previous experimental results, the critical height correlation was reconstructed by use of the branch line connection angle and validation analyses were also performed using SET. The new model can be applied to vertical upward, downward and angled branch, and the accuracy of the new correlations is more improved than that of RELAP5.

Effect analysis of ISLOCA pathways on fission product release at Westinghouse 2-loop PWR using MELCOR

  • As the amount of fission product released from ISLOCA was overestimated because of conservative assumptions in the past, several studies have been recently conducted to evaluate the actual release amount. Among several pathways for the ISLOCA, most studies were focused on the pathway with the highest possibility. However, different ISLOCA pathways may have different fission product release characteristics. In this study, fission product behavior was analyzed for various pathways at the Westinghouse two-loop plant using MELCOR. Four pathways are considered: the pipes from a cold leg, from a downcomer, from a hot leg to the outlet of RHR heat exchanger, and the pipe from the hot leg to the inlet of RHR pump (Pathway 1-4). According to the analysis results, cladding fails at around 2.5 h in Pathways 1 and 2, and on the other hand, about 3.3 h in Pathways 3 and 4 because the ISLOCA pathways affect the safety injection flow path. While the release amount of cesium and iodine ranges between 20 and 26% in Pathways 1 to 3, Pathway 4 allows only 5% to the environment because the break location is submerged. Also, as more than 90% of cesium released to the environment passes through the personnel door, reinforcing the pressure capacity of the doors would be a significant factor in the accident management of the ISLOCA.

재생 폴리에틸렌/비산회 분말 충전 복합체 제조와 기계적 물성, 내마모성 및 저속균열성장 저항성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Manufacturing, Mechanical Properties,Abrasion Resistance, and Slow Crack Growth Resistance of the Recycled Polyethylene/Fly Ash Composites)

  • 비산회를 첨가한 폐 PE의 직접적인 재활용 및 용도 개발을 위하여 재생 폴리에틸렌 수지와 순수 HDPE를 기본으로 비산회(fly ash)와 블렌드하여 비산회/재생 PE 복합재료를 치합형 동방향 회전 이축 압출기(fully intermeshing co-rotating twin screw extruder)를 이용하여 각 조성별로 제조하였다. 본 연구에서는 플라스틱 수지(재생 PE, HDPE)와 비산회의 혼합비를 (0~40) wt.%로 하였고 비산회의 함량 변화에 따른 물성을 비교하였다. 세 종류의 PE 모두 비산회 함량이 증가할수록 항복인장강도가 감소하고, 파단신율이 감소한다. 내마모성 시험 결과는 사포 거칠기가 증가할수록 내마모성이 떨어지고 거칠기가 감소할수록 충전제의 함량에 따라 내마모성이 증가한다. Notched Constant Ligament Stress 시험에서는 신재 PE와 재생 PE의 경우 하중의 변화에 따라 파괴 시간이 짧아지는 결과를 나타냈고, 비산회가 혼합된 KRPE 복합체는 신재 PE, 폐 PE 그리고 신재 PE 복합체 및 JRPE 복합체와 비교할 때 상대적인 파괴 시간은 짧게 나타나지만 매설용 구조물에 대한 한국산업표준에서 정하는 20% 노치 깊이, 15%의 하중에서 24시간 이상의 저속 균열저항성을 나타내어 지하매설용 구조체로서 하수 이음관/받침대와 옥외구조물로서 가로수 보호의자와 같은 구조물에 적용할 수 있을 것으로 판단한다.

부재 접합부가 아치형 연동온실의 구조 성능에 미치는 영향: 실대형 실험적 및 해석적 연구 (Effect of the Member Joint on Structural Performance of an Arch-type Multi-span Greenhouse: A Full-scale Experimental and Numerical Study)

  • 본 연구에서는 실대형 실험과 구조해석을 통하여 현장에서 사용되는 기둥-서까래-도리, 기둥-도리-방풍벽 접합부를 적용한 강관 골조 플라스틱 연동온실의 정적 구조성능을 분석하였다. 실대형 재하실험 결과는 접합부를 강접합으로 가정한 구조해석 결과와 비교하여 구조물의 횡방향 강성과 각 부재의 하중분담률에서 많은 차이를 보였다. 동고 높이에서 측정한 수평변위는 실험과 구조해석의 차이가 40%이었고 수직변위는 89%의 차이를 보였다. S3 부재의 발생응력을 기준으로 한 각 부재별 하중분담률을 비교한 결과 실험과 구조해석에서 두 배 이상의 차이를 보이는 부재가 있었으며, 하부측벽이음(S2), 기둥 상부(S7) 등 주요 부재의 실험결과가 구조해석의 하중분담률을 재현하지 않았다. 현장에서 사용하는 접합부가 충분한 강성을 확보하지 않음으로써 구조물에 작용하는 외력을 각 부재에 적절하게 전달하지 못했으며 이로 인해 구조물의 강성이 저하되는 현상이 나타났다. 설계 단계에서 일반적으로 구조해석에 의해 결정되는 구조성능의 신뢰도는 접합부의 특성을 보다 면밀하게 고려했는지 여부에 따라 좌우 될 수 있다. 따라서 온실 구조 성능에 대한 신뢰성을 높이기 위해서는 온실에 사용되는 다양한 접합부를 고려할 수 있는 구조해석 기술의 개발이 필요하며 설계 기준에서 상세 설계 방법을 보다 명확히 규정해야 할 것으로 판단된다.
