Introduction of the Magnetic Pulse Compressor (MPC) - Fundamental Review and Practical Application

  • Magnetic switch is a kind of saturable inductor, which utilizes nonlinearity of the magnetization curve of ferromagnetic materials. The right understanding of the saturation phenomena, magnetic properties, voltage-time product, and switching characteristics of the magnetic switch is essential in designing the magnetic pulse compressor (MPC). In this paper, the historical background of research on the MPC, fundamental physical properties of the magnetic switches, and application fields of the MPC are presented. Further, an in-depth analysis of pulse compression in series and parallel MPCs is incorporated. As practical application examples, a series MPC used for water treatments and a parallel MPC used for pulsed electric field (PEF) inactivation of bacteria are cited.

  • The conversion of monoscopic video to 3D stereoscopic video has been studied by some pioneering researchers. In spite of the commercial of potential of the technology, two problems have bothered the progress of this research area: vertical motion parallax and high computational complexity. The former causes the low 3D perception, while the hardware complexity is required by the latter. The previous research has dealt with NTSC video, thur requiring complex processing steps, one of which is motion estimation. This paper proposes 3D stereoscopic conversion method of MPGE encoded data. Our proposed method has the advantage that motion estimation can be avoided by processing MPEG compressed data for the extraction of motion data as well as that camera and object motion in random in random directions can be handled.

  • This research investigates the export strategy for pioneering a new market of Advanced Pilot Trainer T-50, a business unit of KAI company, and increasing its market share. The export strategy is proposed based on the Corporate Marketing Model along with the market oriented concept. Specific sales strategies are extracted in consideration of product analysis, market analysis, and integration of product and target market. Therefore, six countries in Africa are selected as the primary target markets on account of their market potentials. In addition, T-50 is repositioned to 'T-50Af' as 'high price competitive and multi-role trainer.' The business implications include the expansion of the market in Africa and the pursuit of the consistent development and growth of T-50.

  • Shape rolling has been studied experimentally by many researchers. As large numbers of process variables are involved and the material flow is difficult to analyze in shape rolling, the use of numerical techniques as an engineering tool becomes extremely attractive. The first numerical approach to the three-dimensional plastic deformation of rolling was to investigate side spread in flat rolling. Oh and Kobayashi conducted a pioneering study in this field by applying an extremum principle for rigid, perfectlyplastic materials combined with the numerical computation. Since then, several other researchers have used three-dimensional finite element method for analysing spread in rolling . In this investigation of shaperolling al the computer simulations of shape rolling were conducted using TASKS.   • Sophus Lie's research is regarded as one of the most important mathematical advancements in the $19^{th}$ century. His pioneering research in the field of differential equations resulted in an invaluable consolidation of calculus and group theory. Lie's group theory has been investigated and constantly modified by various mathematicians which resulted in a beautifully abstract yet concrete theory. However Lie's early intentions and ideas are lost in the mists of modern transfiguration. In this paper we explore Lie's early academic years and his object of studies which clarify the ground breaking ideas behind his theory.

  • Significant progress has been realized in the design and synthesis of light emitting polymers that emit over the entire visible spectrum. However, up to seventy-five percent of charge recombination events can lead to triplet states that decay non-radiatively. Following the pioneering work in the field of small molecule organic light emitting devices, it has been found that solution processible iridium polymer complexes can be used to harness the wasted triplet energy. In this paper, new results with respect to the electrophosphorescence of solution processible tethered iridium polymer derivatives are presented. Furthermore, our approaches to the design of new high triplet energy conjugated polymer hosts are also reported.

  • SMS Meer GmbH, formerly Mannesmann and today part of the SMS Group, has been building powder presses since the early 1950s. The patents developed here in this field have long since documented the pioneering work carried out for the PM industry. The paper focuses on the challenge of reconciling the contradictory demands in the production of highly complex and crack-free PM parts. The process employed with the patented Controlled Punch Adapter (CPA) [1] counters possible cracking reliably and directly at the source. In this way is it possible to develop new and highly complex parts to series production maturity in a minimum of time even without simulation of the press cycle [2]. The quality data achieved in the production series, almost 100% crack and micro crack-free green parts with optimum density distribution over all press levels is unrivalled and thus gives the user a clear lead over the competition.

  • The study investigates the media distinctiveness between twitter and other social media and describes how product information interpretation and responsiveness by internet users can be affected by the distinctive characteristics of twitter and blog media. The characteristics include relationship formation patterns among users, channel diversity, immediateness of information communication, information flow within media, media credibility, and management cost. Specifically, we statistically tested whether these characteristics are meaningfully differentiated by users. Results also showed that users perceived product information processing level and product evaluation direction differently based on these media characteristics. The current findings can serve as a pioneering work to provide a theoretical framework for examining social media characteristics and their impacts on consumer perception. In addition, this study practically suggests that marketers and network managers need to use differentiated communication strategies for twitters as a marketing strategic option.

  • We are encountering a great numerous informations concerning literatures to rapidly organize and manage, and the necessity for education of library science has been increasing for social service at the right time. The distribution of the library materials to policy-making vital to modernization of Korea has been greatly estimated. Accordingly, at present it is very urgent for us to re-examine the curriculum in each of college library science course. Therefore, we should not repeat such a rediculous education of library science as ten-years old one. A new way should be designed, so that students could carry out their activity of literatures, informations and services which is necessary for modernization of Korea. Thus this essay proposes the following points; This is designed for pioneering to improve and develope the education of library science.

Theoretical Aspects of PTC Thermistors

  • The discovery of ferroelectric barium titanate (BaTiO$_3$) in 1942 began the present era of dielectrics-based electronic ceramics. Ferroelectric barium titanate has a high dielectric constant and after the recognition of BaTiO$_3$ as a new ferroelectric compound, various attractive electrical properties have been extensively studied and reported. Since then, pioneering work on valence-compensated semiconduction led to the discovery of the positive temperature coefficient (PTC) of the resistance effect found in doped BaTiO$_3$. Significant progress has since followed with respect to understanding the PTC phenomena, advancing materials capabilities, and developing devices for sensor and switching applications. In this paper, the theoretical aspects of the various PTC models are discussed and the future trends of practical applications for PTC devices are briefly mentioned.
