  • The synergistic effect of ZrC nanoparticle pining and Re solution in W matrix on the thermal stability of tungsten was studied by investigating the evolution of the microstructure, hardness and tensile properties after annealing in a temperature range of 1000-1700 ℃. The results of metallography, electron backscatter diffraction pattern and Vickers micro-hardness indicate that the rolled W-1wt%Re-0.5 wt% ZrC alloy has a higher recrystallization temperature (1600 ℃-1700 ℃) than that of the rolled pure W (1200 ℃), W-0.5 wt%ZrC (1300 ℃), W-0.5 wt%HfC (1400-1500 ℃) and W-K-3wt%Re alloy fabricated by the same technology. The molecular dynamics simulation results indicated that solution Re atoms in W matrix can slow down the self-diffusion of W atoms and form dragging effect to delay the growth of W grain, moreover, the diffusion coefficient decrease with increasing Re content. In addition, the ZrC nanoparticles can pin the grain boundaries and dislocations effectively, preventing the recrystallization. Therefore, synergistic effect of solid solution Re element and dispersed ZrC nanoparticles significantly increase recrystallization temperature.

  • Laser surface dimple patterning is a method of laser surface texturing to reduce lubrication sliding friction. The dimple pattern improves friction properties by reserving lubricant and trapping worn particles. This surface texturing technology can reduce coefficients of friction and extend the service life by applying a uniform load to the surface of the material. This study investigates the friction properties using PMMA, a highly compatible polymer material, as a specimen. We observe the friction properties of untextured specimens by processing specimens with dimple pattern densities of 5 and 10 on the surface area using laser. Dimple pattern density affects the coefficient of friction. We present the following friction property results using a pin-on-disc sliding friction test under saline lubrication. The coefficients of friction for the dimple patterned specimens are lower than those for the untextured specimens. As the normal load and sliding speed increase, the coefficients of friction of the dimple pattern specimens decrease differently from those of the untextured specimens. The specimen with a dimple pattern density of 5 at a normal load of 24.5 N and a sliding speed of 0.22 m/s has the best friction properties. Notably, different friction properties are exhibited depending on the dimple pattern densities.

  • Several practical methods for accelerating the depletion calculation in a GPU-based Monte Carlo (MC) code PRAGMA are presented including the multilevel spectral collapse method and the vectorized Chebyshev rational approximation method (CRAM). Since the generation of microscopic reaction rates for each nuclide needed for the construction of the depletion matrix of the Bateman equation requires either enormous memory access or tremendous physical memory, both of which are quite burdensome on GPUs, a new method called multilevel spectral collapse is proposed which combines two types of spectra to generate microscopic reaction rates: an ultrafine spectrum for an entire fuel pin and coarser spectra for each depletion region. Errors in reaction rates introduced by this method are mitigated by a hybrid usage of direct online reaction rate tallies for several important fissile nuclides. The linear system to appear in the solution process adopting the CRAM is solved by the Gauss-Seidel method which can be easily vectorized on GPUs. With the accelerated depletion methods, only about 10% of MC calculation time is consumed for depletion, so an accurate full core cycle depletion calculation for a commercial power reactor (BEAVRS) can be done in 16 h with 24 consumer-grade GPUs.

  • Objective: This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of fungal treated oil palm fronds (FTOPF) on performance, carcass traits, meat quality, and muscle chemical composition. Methods: Eighteen growing crossbred male goats (Thai Native${\times}$Anglo Nubian) with $18.7{\pm}2.0kg$ of initial body weight (BW) were stratified and blocked by BW in a randomized complete block design. Three diets containing 30% of oil palm fronds (OPF) either untreated (UOPF) or treated with Lentinussajor-caju (FTOPF) with or without urea (FTOPFU) were used as roughage sources in total mixed rations (TMRs). The diets were offered ad libitum and weight gain was determined. At the end of the experimental period, the harvest data and carcass characteristics of the goats were recorded, and muscular longissimus dorsi composition was determined. Results: No significant effect of fungal treated (FT) inclusion was observed in any of the feed intake, growth performance, and carcass characteristics. Likewise, no apparent effects on carcass composition and muscle chemical composition were detected in this study, except for hind leg and chump were affected (p<0.05) by FT inclusion. Conclusion: In conclusion, feeding of fungal (Lentinussajor-caju) treated oil palm frond in TMR diet did not affect performance and carcass characteristics in finishing goats.

  • This study investigates the friction noise characteristic in relation to the corrosion of metal by using the frictional reciprocating and pin-on-disk system. From the experiments, it is found that the corrosion of metal advances the onset time and increases the magnitude of friction noise. Further, it is observed that the effect of corrosion on friction noise stems from the alteration of tribo-surface during repetitive frictional motion. The alteration of the corrosive contact surface induces a negative friction-velocity slope, by which the corrosion of metal can generate dynamic instability faster than non-corrosion of metal.

  • In order to investigate the effect of front channel in DAL (dual active layer) TFT (thin film transistor), we successfully fabricated DAL TFT composed of ITZO and IGZO as active layer using the solution process. In this structure, ITZO and IGZO active layer were used as front and back channel, respectively. The front channel was changed from 0.05 to 0.2 M at fixed 0.3 M IGZO of back channel. When the mol concentration of front channel was increased, the threshold voltage (VTH) was increased from 2.0 to -11.9 V and off current also was increased from 10-12 to 10-11. This phenomenon is due to increasing the carrier concentration by increasing the volume of the front channel. The saturation mobility of DAL TFT with 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2 M ITZO were 0.45, 4.3, and $0.65cm2/V{\cdot}s$. Even though 0.2 M ITZO has higher carrier concentration than 0.05 and 0.1 M ITZO, the 0.1 M ITZO/0.3 M IGZO DAL TFT has the highest saturation mobility. This is due to channel defect such as pores and pin-holes. These defect sites were created during deposition process by solvent evaporation. Due to these defect sites, the 0.1 M ITZO/0.3 M IGZO DAL TFT shows the higher saturation mobility than that of DAL TFT with front channel of 0.2 M ITZO.

  • This paper describes the design of hacking prevention systems using a smart card. It consists of two parts, i.e., PC authentication and Keyboard-buffer hacking prevention. PC authentication function is a procedure to handle the access control to the target PC. The card's serial number is used for PIN(Personal Identification Number) and is converted into hash-code by SHA-1 hash-function to verify the valid users. The Keyboard-buffer hacking prevention function converts the scan codes into the encoded forms using RSA algorithm on the Java Card, and puts them into the keyboard-buffer to protect from illegal hacking. The encoded information in the buffer is again decoded by the RSA algorithm and displayed on the screen. in this paper, we use RSA_PKCS#1 algorithm for encoding and decoding. The reason using RSA technique instead of DES or Triple-DES is for the expansion to multi-functions in the future on PKI. Moreover, in the ubiquitous computing environment, this smart card security system can be used to protect the private information from the illegal attack in any computing device anywhere. Therefore, our security system can protect PC user's information more efficiently and guarantee a legal PC access authority against any illegal attack in a very convenient way.

  • Kombucha beverages were made from sweetened tea by Oriental, European and Tibetan tea fungus starters. The hot water extracts o green tea, black tea, Gugija and Omija were mixed with white and/or brown sugar, and were fermented under a static culture at 3$0^{\circ}C$. Titrable acidity, pH, color and cellulose production in kombucha beverages were evaluated. All tea fungus starters showed a higher acid production in green/black tea extracts rather than Gugija and Omija extracts. In green/black tea extracts Oriental tea fungus produced a kombucha beverage with a higher titrable acidity and lower pH than those of European and Tibetan tea fungus starters. By the static fermentation of green/black tea extract for 18 days, Oriental, Tibetan and European tea fungus starters produced cellulose pellicles of 0.43g, 0.16g, and 0.19 g (dry weight) on the top in the culture, respectively. As a mother starter, the cellulose pellicle was more efficient in acid production compared with tea fungus broth. Oriental/Tibetan mixed tea fungus showed the best acid production in the green/black tea extract supplemented with brown sugar.

  • A stadium roof that uses the pin-jointed spatial truss system has to be designed by taking into account the unstable phenomenon due to the geometrical non-linearity of the long span. This phenomenon is mainly studied in the single-free-node model (SFN) or double-free-node model (DFN). Unlike the simple SFN model, the more complex DFN model has a higher order of characteristic equations, making analysis of the system's stability complicated. However, various symmetric conditions can allow limited analysis of these problems. Thus, this research looks at the stability of the DFN model which is assumed to be symmetric in shape, and its load and equilibrium state. Its governing system is expressed by nonlinear differential equations to show the double Duffing effect. To investigate the dynamic behavior and characteristics, we normalize the system of the model in terms of space and time. The equilibrium points of the system unloaded or symmetrically loaded are calculated exactly. Furthermore, the stability of these points via the roots of the characteristic equation of a Jacobian matrix are classified.

  • Due to a low stiffness of cranktrain and a failure experience from a history within short development time, a viscous torsional vibration damper was applied in order to reduce the torsional vibration and keep the high reliability for the durability of cranktrain system in the direct injection diesel engine. As an improvement of the crankshaft stiffness by increasing the diameter of main and pin journal, a rubber type damper could be considered. In this study, the control factors of rubber damper, the moment of inertia ring, stiffness of damper and damping coefficient of ring, were investigated by DFSS method through the analysis work and the measurement in the real engine condition.
