Pilot 공벽변형법에 의한 암반응력 측정 장비의 개발 (Development of Rock Stress Measurement Probe Based on The Pilot Hole Wall Deformation Method)

  • The theory and a probe of the pilot hole wall deformation method, which is a 3-dimensional stress measurement method based on the stress relief principle, were developed. A pilot hole is drilled from the bottom of a borehole and the stress measurement probe is inserted into the pilot hole. The borehole is advanced as the overcoring and the changes in the radius of the pilot hole in three directions and in the axial lengths between the borehole bottom and the pilot hole wall along four axial lines are measured by cantilever type-displacement sensors. The differences between the displacements by the elastic stress analysis and those measured by using the probe were within 3% in the uniaxial compression test of an acrylic resin plate having a hole.

  • Screw withdrawal test was carried out on the face and edge of domestic particleboard and medium density fiberboard in order to evaluate optimum pilot hole diameter. The obtained results were as follows: 1. Maximum withdrawal strengths on the face and edge of particleboard were obtained with pilot hole diameters at about 50% of root diameters of screw. 2. Maximum withdrawal strength on the face and edge of medium density fiberboard were obtained with pilot hole diameters that were about 60% and 50% of root diameters of screw, respectively. 3. Withdrawal strength showed about 91% of maximum withdrawal strength when pilot holes were not pre bored at particleboard. but when pilot holes at 90% of root diameter of screw withdrawal strength showed about as 51.3% of maximum withdrawal strength. 4. Withdrawal strength showed about 88% of maximum strength when pilot holes were not used, but withdrawal strength indicated 55.4% of maximum strength in case of 90% of root diameters of screw. 5. Maximum withdrawal strength on the face of particleboard was about 70.5% higher than that of the edge, and however medium density fiberboard was about 19.6% higher than that of the edge.

  • future exhaust emission limits for diesel-driven passenger cars will force the automotive company to significantly develop of the new technologies of diesel engine respectively of the drive assemblies. As we know, the contributions of soot and nitrogen oxide is the main problems in diesel engine. Recently, as a result, the pilot injection of common-rail fuel injection system recognizes an alternative function to solve an environmental problem. This study describes the effect of the nozzle structure and driven characteristic of injector on pilot injection fur a passenger car common-rail system. The pilot spray structure such as spray tip penetration, spray speed and spray angle were obtained by high speed images, which is measured by the Mie scattering method with optical system fur high-speed temporal photography. Also the CFD analysis was carried out for fuel behavior under high pressure in between needle and nozzle of injector for common-rail system to know the condition of initial injection at experiment test. It was found that solenoid-driven injector with 5-hole was faster than 6-hole injector in spray speed at same conditions and piezo-driven injector showed faster response than solenoid injector.

  • 대기중에서 움직이는 비행체(항공기, 미사일 등)의 속도 및 고도를 측정하기 위한 장치가 피토관 (Pilot-Tube)이다. 고속으로 비행하는 항공기의 안전하고 효율적인 운항을 위해서는 정확한 비행속도 및 고도측정이 요구된다. 피토관 최적 설계인자 결정을 위해 피토관 Nose의 Inlet부, Nose부 외곽형 상, 정압홀의 형상 및 정압홀 설치 위치 선정을 위한 유동장 해석을 수행하였다. 또한 해석을 통해 얻은 설계자료를 기본으로 제작한 피토관의 풍동실험을 수행하였다. 본 연구를 통해 속도 및 고도 계측용 피토관의 설계기술을 확보하였고 제작기술을 보유하였으며, 유동해석 및 풍동실험을 함으로써 피토관 국산화에 필요한 기본 자료를 얻었다.

  • A 3-dimensional stress measurement system based on the bore hole bottom deformation method, which is one of the stress relief methods, was developed. A pilot bore hole is drilled from the bottom of a bore hole and the stress meter is inserted into the pilot bore hole in the method. The bore hole is advanced as an over coring and the deformations in seven directions are measured by cantilever type-sensors. Using the cantilever type-sensors saves time for hardening of glue. No cable connection between the stress meter and a data logger is necessary since a compact data logger is installed in the stress meter. The accuracy of the stress meter was confirmed by a biaxial test for a Shikotsu welded tuff block although in-situ tests have not been carried out yet.

  • Fractionation effects of the slot-type and the hole-type screens of mutifractors were studied using a pilot multifractor. We used a slot screen of 0.15 mm, and two hole screens of 1.0 and 2.0 mm, respectively, in the study. We found hole-type screens were more effective for fractionation of fiber furnishes according to their fiber lengths. Slot-type screen was more effective to remove the shives from the accepted fiber furnishes. There existed a high regression coefficient between the fiber length differences and the freeness differences of the accepted and the rejected fiber furnishes.

  • The combustion characteristics for the low NOx 50 kW-class gas turbine combustor have been experimentally investigated. In order to achieve the premixing and the lean burn combustion, the geometries of the primary zone including premixed chamber were modified from conventional combustor. The centerline profiles of CO and NO concentration, and temperature were measured for the premixed combustors with or without dilution holes in the liner. The effects of the pilot fuel injection rate and air dilution on flame stabilization and pollutant (CO, NO) emission are discussed in detail.

  • In order to predict analytically torque, thrust force, tool life and chip formation in drilling, cutting models for chisel edge with various tool-chip contact length were developed in this type. Also, the experimental tests are run with various pilot holes. The following conclusions were obtained from the analysis. \circled1 It's also found experimentally that thrust force(Fz) decreases as pilot hole diameter increases. \circled2 Surface roughness for material(G) is larger that for material(J). The difference over two materials in roughness value about 0.5$mu extrm{m}$. \circled3 Flank wear of the drill in cutting material of G less than any other kinds of materials(F, G, H, I, J). \circled4 In drilling a deep hole on a workpiece over SM45C either twist drill. The chip was conical helix type at the fist suspensely change the two segment type and than two a long pitch helix style.

  • The discovery of GW150914, black hole - black hole merger via gravitational waves (GWs) opened a new window to observe the Universe. GW frequencies from heavenly bodies and early Universe are expected to span between sub-nHz up to kHz. At present, GW detectors on Earth (LIGO, Virgo, KAGRA, LIGO-India) aims frequency ranges between 10-2000 Hz. The space-borne GW detector and Pulsar Timing Array targets mHz and nHz sources. Starting in March 2017, the KKN (KASI-KISTI-NIMS) collaboration launched a pilot study of SLGT (Superconducting Low-frequency Gravitational-wave Telescope). This project is funded by NST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology). The main detection bands expected for SLGT ranges between 0.1-10Hz, which is complementary of LIGO-type detectors and LISA for multi-band GW observation. We will present an overview of the SLGT project and report the status of the NST pilot study. We will also present prospective of GW astronomy with SLGT.

  • In order to investigate efficiency and flowfield charateristics of the intake-diffuser for the ship waterjet propulsion, new experimental verification technology was set up in the cavitation tunnel. 1-hole and 5-hole pilot tubes were designed and manufactured to measure the pressure and velocity distributions at intake-diffuser entrance and impeller inlet. The calibration of the 5-hole pilot tubes is conducted at the cavitation tunnel The cavitation inception occurs at the intake lip, and the occurrence position depends on IVR (Inlet Velocity Ratio) condition. The present experimental device will be applied sufficiently for the development of the design and performance improvement technologies.
