  • To reach a better foundation treatment project, an optimized analysis of composite foundation was studied in the field of hydraulic engineering. Its unique characteristics in hydraulic engineering were concluded. And, the overall and detailed analysis of the composite foundation model established was carried out. The index parameters of the vertical reinforced rigid pile composite foundation were formulated. Further, considering the unique role of cushion in hydraulic engineering, its penetration and regularity were analyzed. Then, comparative and optimized analyses of cushion multistage physical dimensions and multistage material characteristics were established. The parameters of the piles distance were optimized and the multilevel scientific and reasonable parameters information was obtained. Based on the information of these parameters, the practical application was verified. It effectively supported the effective application of vertical reinforcement rigid pile composite foundation in hydraulic engineering. The service mechanism of composite foundation was fully analyzed.

  • In remodeling business or construction of both new strucures and existing structures, Case that pile foundation was set is often. Micro pile, holding compressive force and tensile force by spherical friction, is supported by skin friction rather than end bearing capacity. but, This is weak in tension. Active area of micro pile's skin friction is narrow and micro pile don't do unification behavior hence. So bearing capacity was not fully mobilized in existing researching. In this study, in order to compensate for this method, micro pile to install Resisting Fixture is proposed.

  • In this study, a sensitivity analysis was carried out by using numerical analysis under the consideration that it is difficult to analyze the behavior of real piled raft foundations on different ground conditions through a real scale test. The program used for numerical analysis is FLAC 3D based on the finite difference method. Piles were modelled by using pile element that is one of the structure elements of FLAC 3D and the ground and raft were modelled by using continuum element. With a fixed pile arrangement of $3{\times}3$, the diameter, length, space of piles, and ground conditions were selected as sensitivity parameters and their mutual correlation were investigated. As a result, the bigger and longer pile diameter, length and pile space are, the bigger the bearing capacity of the piled raft becomes. When pile space exceeded a specific value, however, the piled raft foundation behaved like a shallow foundation supported by only a raft. Also it can be confirmed that the better ground conditions are, the more total bearing capacity of the piled raft foundation increases.

  • This paper is the research result about centrifuge model experiments of investigating the behavior of bridge abutment on the sloped ground. Ground condition of the studied site was the bridge abutment with pile foundation adjacent to the slope. The pile foundations was supported on the soft rocks covered with the embankment. Evaluating the behavior of such a complicate ground and structure conditions was not easy so that the centrifuge modelling was performed to find the overall behavior of them. Layout of centrifuge model experiment was simplified to simulate easily the actual behavior of very complicate site condition. Construction process in field such as ground excavation for footing foundation, installation of piles, placement of footing and bridge abutment, backfilling and surcharge loading eas duplicated in the centrifuge model experiment. Consequently, the stability of the piled bridge abutment adjacent to the slope of embankment was evaluated throughout centrifuge modelling.

  • To improve concrete-filled tube (CFT) columns, an octagonal concrete-filled tube (OCFT) column was developed. Because the OCFT column requires a small boring diameter, the OCFT column is suitable for Top-Down construction method. In this study, the compression performance of OCFT column to be used as Top-Down pile foundation was verified using centrifuge equipment. Under 12 g centrifugal acceleration, the bearing capacities of the pile foundations of OCFT and H-shaped sections were tested. When the pile foundations were embedded in soil of full depth, 45 % of the design strength, which was assumed to be the construction load, was supported by the OCFT and H-shaped sections in the elastic states. When the pile foundations were embedded in soil of half depth, the buckling of the pile foundations was not investigated. After the loading test, the rock at the bottom of pile foundation, which had a strength of 3.5 MPa, was not damaged due to 45 % of the design strength.

  • Bending moments in the raft of a pile raft system is affected by pile-pile interaction and pile-raft interaction, amongst other factors. Three-Dimensional finite element program has to be used to evaluate these bending moments. Winkler type analysis is easy to use but it however ignores these interactions. This paper proposes a very simplified and novel method for finding bending moments in raft of a piled raft based on Winkler type where raft is supported on bed of springs considering pile-pile and pile-raft interaction entitled as "Winkler model for piled raft (WMPR)" The pile and raft spring stiffness are based on load share between pile and raft and average pile raft settlement proposed by Randolph (1994). To verify the results of WMPR, raft bending moments are compared with those obtained from PLAXIS 3D software. A total of sixty analysis have Performed varying different parameters. It is found that raft bending moments obtained from WMPR closely match with bending moments obtained from PLAXIS 3D. A comparison of bending moments ignoring any interaction in Winkler model is also made with PLAXIS-3D, which results in large difference of bending moments. Finally, bending moment results from eight different methods are compared with WMPR for a case study. The WMPR, though, a simple method yielded comparable raft bending moments with the most accurate analysis.

  • Rotary pile consists a single or multiple helix plate and it is installed into the ground using the rotation of the helix plate. Rotary pile in soft ground is able to be supported by pile shaft and helix plate. When the pile is installed into hard layer relatively, the end bearing capacity is possible to be increased by the lower helix plate. In this paper, small-size rotary piles were manufactured with using steel pipe which is reduced to 1/5 size of the rotary pile on the construction field. Pile load test was carried out on the foundation soil which was formed by weathered soft soil. The bearing capacity of small-scale piles depends on the number of helix plate, the length of plate diameter, and an interval of plates, respectively. The bearing capacity of pile increases about 40% with 3 helix plate and it is also confirmed that the bearing capacity is improved about 10% as the increment of plate interval.

  • This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the effect of large underground station construction method under an existing pile supported bridge using reduced-scale model tests. A series of tests were conducted on design alternatives using 1g models for different design options for which tunnel structures were created considering the similitude law. Deformation fields obtained using the PIV analysis and LVDTs together with strains in tunnel structures were used to investigate the effect of the construction methods on the pile supported bridge. The results of the tests demonstrated that the pipe roof structure is more efficient in limiting the ground deformation as well as the settlement of bridge foundation than a 2-Arch tunnel. It is also shown that the PIV analysis can be effectively used in analyzing ground tunneling induced ground movement for cases in which a construction sequence governs ground movement.

  • Application of structural load on soft ground can cause lateral movement as well as ground break due to pressing and shearing of ground. Especially, abutment supported by pile foundation can make pile deformed due to lateral movement of ground in order to have harmful effect on structure. According to the result of this study, it is required to consider disturbance of weak soil layer when using lateral movement countermeasure method by EPS construction method as a result of performing study on safety review and EPS construction method with respect to this based on site where lateral movement occurs due to backside soil filling load at bridge abutment installed on weak ground, and it is required to sufficiently consider soil reduction during design of EPS construction method due to lateral movement deformation of soft clay layer by losing ground horizontal resistance force due to plasticity of ground around pile as well as combination part damage with pile head and expansion foundation.
