A Dual Mode Ultrasonic Transducer with a PZT Piezoelectric Seramics (PZT 압전 세라믹스를 사용한 2 중 모우드 초음파 변환기)

  • The most of conventional ultrasonic transducers are constructed to generate either longitudinal or shear waves, but not both of them. We investigated the mechanism of dual mode transducers that generates both of the longitudinal and shear waves simultaneously with a single PZT element. The study has been aimed to find the desired cut by the examining the piezoelectric properties. Theory predicts that a mixed P/S mode transducer can be constructed using a related Z-cut of a PZT ceramics. We studied the performance of a PZT element as a function of its rotation angle so that its efficiency is optimized to excite the two waves equally strongly. The results are verified by checking the impedance variation of the element with Finite Element Methods, and chocking the wave form by pulse-echo test simulation. Aging Behavior and Electric Field Induced-Domain Stabilization in Cr2O3 Doped Pb(Zr0.525 Ti0.475)O3 System (Cr2O3첨가 Pb(Zr0.525 Ti0.475)O3계에서의 시효거동과 전계유도 Domain 안정화)

  • Cr2O3 doped Pb(Zr0.525 Ti0.475)O3 piezoelectric ceramics were prepared from reagent grade oxide mixture, PbO, ZrO2, TiO2 and Cr2O3. Piezoelectric and aging properties of specimens were measured for various additions of Cr2O3. Generally, it has been known that aging rate decreased with Cr2O3 addition by stabilizing the domain wall. But hysteresis loops showed that the domain destabilization was occurred at high electric field (larger than 10KV/cm). In smaller additions of Cr2O3 (0-0.2mol%), aging rate increased and microcracks were created with increasing poling filed due to increasing internal stress. In larger additions of Cr2O3(0.4∼0.6mol%), aging rate decreased with increasing poling field.

  • Piezoelectric(PZT) actuator can substitute for solenoid which is used in fluid control field because it has faster response times and no possibility of explosion. Besides, it is available in a high temperature and it has low energy consumption. In this study, pneumatic micro valve, bimorph type PZT actuator using the softner type PZT, carbon plate as a shim and its controller circuit were suggested and investigated. Performance tests and characteristics analysis, such as displacement, force, hysteresis and frequency properties, were carried out. The displacement of the actuator measured at the end point was 63 ${\mu}m$., force of the actuator was 0.052 N and maximum operating frequency was 15Hz. Also, characteristics of the micro valve with PZT actuator were evaluated in a testing system. The results show that the suggested PZT actuator is suitable for micro valve.

  • This paper describes an intelligent piezoelectric traffic sensor which can be detected the over-weighted vehicles In motion. Based on finite element analysis for the sensor, the sensitivity was analyzed and the design was optimized. Studied parameters are the material properties of constitutional parts, the geometry of the sensor, the weight of the vehicle, and the speed of the vehicle. To verify the simulated results, we manufactured the sensor having the optimized geometry and the sensitivity was measured in the range from 0.5 to 3 ton of tensile and compressive stress. The measured results shows that the sensitivity and linearity of the sensor are closely agree with the designed values.

  • The piezoelectric ceramics of PMS-PZT was made in the radial mode disk. As the results, in the application of filter required conditions: that is, higher-values for piezoelectric properties($K_p$, $Q_m$) and lower-values for stabilities of $F_{\tau}$(temp. coefficient, aging rate), 5PMS-51PT-44PZ composition statified well. This composition was made in the dot-ring type. Asthe results, with increasing $n^2$ both $Q_m$ and S had high values, decreasing $n^2$ both $K_p$ and BW had low values when the diameter of sintered bodies were constant. Therefore, curve of filter characteristic have sharped with increasing $n^2$ and BW broadened with decreasing $n^2$.

  • In this study, 0.05Pb(Mn$\_$1/3/Nb$\_$2/3/)O$_3$+ 0.95Pb(Zr/Ti)O$_3$+x[wt%]Cr$_2$O$_3$piezoelectric ceramics were fabricated by Hot-press method, and its structural, dielectrical, piezoelectrical properties, temperature stability and aging characteristics were investigated. Among the MPB and tetragonal compositions, the specimens with 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 [wt%] Cr$_2$O$_3$ additive amount had the poisson ratio more than 1/3. At tetragonal phase, the aging was small, and the temperature stability was improved by Cr addition. The specimen most suitable to the HF device substrate was the one with the composition of 47/53 (Zr/Ti) an 0.4 [wt%] Cr$_2$O$_3$addition.

  • Piezoelectric thin film such as ZnO and AlN can be applicable to FBAR (Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator) device of thin film type and FBAR can be applicable to MMIC. The characteristic of FBAR device is variable according to the deposition conditions of piezoelectric thin film when preparation of thin film by sputtering method. In this study, we prepared ZnO thin film for FBAR using Facing Targets Sputtering apparatus which can be deposited fine Quality thin film because temperature increase of substrate due to the bombardment of high-energy particles can be restrained. And crystalline and c-axis preferred orientation of ZnO thin film with deposition conditions was investigated by XRD.

  • In this study, piezoelectric composites with 1-3-0 connectivity have been studied. A Piezoelectric ceramic PZT Prepared by Wet-Dry Combination method is used as a filler in mixture of Eccogel polymer matrix and third Phase. The density and stiffness of 1-3-0 type composites were decreased with increasing the third phase.

  • The electro-magneto- thermo-elastic behavior of a rotating functionally graded long hollow cylinder with functionally graded piezoelectric (FGPM) layers is analytically analyzed. The layers are imperfectly bonded to its inner and outer surfaces. The hybrid cylinder is placed in a constant magnetic field subjected to a thermo-electro-mechanical loading and could be rested on a Winkler-type elastic foundation. The material properties of the FGM cylinder and radially polarized FGPM layers are assumed to be graded in the radial direction according to the power law. The hybrid cylinder is rotating about its axis at a constant angular velocity. The governing equations are solved analytically and then stresses, displacement and electric potential distribution are calculated. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effects of material in-homogeneity, magnetic field, elastic foundation, applied voltage, imperfect interface and thermo-mechanical boundary condition on the static behavior of a FG smart cylinder.

  • In this paper, High quality factor and fine dielectric loss was resulted on specimen added 0.5wt% $MnO_2$ after compared and analyzed dielectric and piezoelectric properties following that added each 0 $\sim$ 0.9wt% of $Fe_2O_3$, $Nb_2O_5$, and $MnO_2$ on dopant at PSN-PT in two material disposition ceramics with research still is not completed to material investigation to increase high power piezoelectric actuator device efficiency. And, a measuring method and the experimental results of the temperature rise under the high vibrational velocity are also described.
