An ultrasonic linear motor was composed af a slider and a stator vibrator including piezoelectric material and elastic material. The ultrasonic linear motors mainly consist of an ultrasonic vibrator which generates elliptical oscillations. $L_1-B4$ ultrasonic linear motor use longitudinal and bending multi-vibration. In order to design stators which has high efficiency and diriving characteristics. The finite element method was used to optimize dimension of ultrasonic vibrator and direction of vibratory displacement. stator vibrator of respectively width 3, 5, 7[mm] was fabricated an experimented. as results When width was 5[mm], the driving characteristics was good

In this paper, we propose a novel type shaft-less ring type ultrasonic motor. A traveling wave rotary type ultrasonic motor is selected as a base model. The newly designed stator has two piezoelectric ceramic rings which are bonded in sandwich shape as traveling wave generator. So, we can expect to produce higher torque. The proposed model has the rotor structure that coupled with the stator provokes the pressure, this model do not install the separate plate any spring device. We used the finite element method to verify the operation principle and to compute the vibration mode of proposed model.

In this study, the ultrasonic motor which has hollowed cross type stator was designed, and the elastic body of ultrasonic motor was optimized by using a finite element analysis program(ANSYS 9.0). When the length of leg(L) of the elastic body was increased and the width of piezoceramics was decreased, the resonant frequency was increased and the displacement of contact point between the rotor and the stator was increased. However, when the length of the leg was over the 1/3 point of the width of ceramics, the displacement of the contact point was decreased, because the elastic buckle was generated in the leg.

This paper is a study on a linear ultrasonic motor with a first longitudinal$(L_1)$ and fourth bending $(B_4)$ double-mode rectangular plate. The stator vibrator is composed of an elastic material plate and of a piezo-ceramic element having a motion by electrical excitation. Each strain vector differs by $90^{\circ}$ generate travelling wave with the elliptical displacement motion of a point on the surface. To magnify displacement of longitudinal direction in elliptical displacement motion, the motor has a mechanism of the.displacement enlargement. In this paper, the vibration shape of the stator is simulated using the finite element method. A detailed model considered of the piezoelectric effect and of the exact geometry of the stator is used to calculate the displacement. The position of displacement mechanism is decided by the maximum displacement.

Novel structure ultrasonic motors which have cross type stator were designed and fabricated. Driving characteristics of the motors were analyzed and measured by changing the materials of the stator. This ultrasonic motor has stator with hollowed cross bar and the stator rotate the rotor using elliptical displacement of the inside tips. This motion is generated by lateral vibration mode of cross bars. This stator was analyzed by finite element analysis and the ultrasonic motors were made by analyzed results. The larger displacements were obtained, when the Young's modulus was increased and the Poisson's ratio was decreased. The fabricated one has high speed in large Poisson's ratio and Young's modulus. And the torque was increased in high Young's modulus.

This paper suggested the vibration characteristic improvement by variation mode of ring type ultrasonic motor. Design for the piezoelectric ceramic and elastic body of stator were calculated by the finite element method(FEM) that consider the resonance frequency, vibration mode and coupling efficiency etc. Through the result of vibration analysis from 6 order mode to 8 mode, the 7 order mode was gained very an excellent results that it was the coupling efficient, minimum power loss and bending vibration value. Here over 7 order mode, was acquired that an output current for input voltage was very a large increased results. The result of vibration calculation, from thickness 0.5[mm] to 2[mm], know the fact that the vibration displacement at 0.5[mm] is an high value too. From such analysis result, this paper was manufactured the ultrasonic motor of outer diameter 50[mm], inter 22[mm] having the about 43.86[KHz] resonance frequency. We have gated that a simulation result is 42.2[KHz] and an experiment result is 43.86[KHz]. Then, a propriety of this paper was established the result almost similar to though comparison, investigation of simulation and experiment result.
Ultrasonic motor is a motor driven by the stator via frictional contact forces generated from ultrasonic vibration of piezoelectric elements. In order to control the ultrasonic motor, it is essential to measure accurately the motor characteristics with respect to driving parameters such as frequency, voltage, phase difference and duty ratio of the driving signals. In this paper, a PC-interfaced evaluation device is developed, and the characteristic curves of the fabricated ultrasonic motor are measured with those parameters. All driving parameters are processed digitally. The developed evaluation device can facilitate charateristics measurements effectively, and provide a base for digital control of the ultrasonic motor.
In this paper the relationship between the pressing force applied to rotors and the characteristics of ultrasonic motor are discussed. The characteristics of ultrasonic motor using a piezoelectric vibrator were systematically studied. And these were applied to the construction of a card forwarding device. The principle of ultrasonic motor is to use an elliptical motion generated on the side of the vibrator, and the elliptical motion of the ultrasonic motor was obtained by complex oscillation of $L_1-B_4$ mode. As the experimental results. the forwarding speed of the card increased linearly as the pressing force applied to rotors increased. The forwarding speed of the card was 16.0 cm/s when the pressing force applied to rotors was 1 N. The forwarding force of the card increased linearly as the pressing force applied to rotors increased. The forwarding force of the card was 398 mN when the pressing force applied to rotors was 1 N. Therefore, this ultrasonic motor can be expected to be used for card-forwarding device and so on.

There is a great demand of micro-actuators for mobile information devices such as SFF optical drives and mobile phone cameras. However, the magnetic coils used in conventional electromagnetic motors are a major obstacle for the miniaturization because of their complicated structures and large power consumption. In this paper, a linear ultrasonic motor to actuate focusing lens of mobile devices is proposed. The new actuator uses a ring type bimorph piezoelectric material, and $d_{31}$ mode is adopted for applying linear motion. The interaction between inertia force and friction force makes linear motion by high-frequency saw signal input. The saw signal gives steady forces on the one direction by asymmetric inclination property of the signal itself on time domain. A commercial FEM(ANSYS) was used in this investigation for simulating structural analysis, identification of dynamic property, such as resultant displacement and coupled analysis with piezoelectric material. To evaluate the performance of the new design, a prototype was manufactured and experiments were carried out. Experimental results show the actuator motion of 5.4 mm/s at 10V saw signal of 41 kHz.
