Fabrication and Evaluation of a Flexible Piezoelectric Impact Force Sensor for Electronic Mitt Application (전자 미트 응용을 위한 유연 압전 충격 센서의 제조와 특성 평가)

  • Flexible impact force sensors composed of piezoelectric PZT/PDMS composite sandwiched between Al/PET films were fabricated and their voltage signal characteristics were evaluated under varying impact forces for electronic mitt applications. The piezoelectric impact force sensor on an ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) substrate exhibited an output voltage difference of no greater than 40 mV a periodical impact test in with the impact load was increased by as much as 240 N by a restoration time of 5 s in a five-time experiment, implying good sensing ability. Moreover, the impact force sensor embedded four electronic mitts showed a reliable sensitivity of less than 1 mV/N and good repeatability under 100 N-impact force during a cycle test executed 10,000 times. This indicated that the fabricated flexible piezoelectric impact sensor could be used in electronic mitt applications. However, the relatively low elastic limit of substrate material such as EVA or poly-urethane slightly deteriorated the sensitivity of the impact sensor embedded electronic mitt at over 200 N-impact forces.

  • Nowadays, source of MEMS, USN, Hybrid parts pay attention to energy harvesting. On this paper, energy harvesting was studied using piezoelectric effect. And, piezoelectric generator was designed and fabricated. Generators were designed by FEM simulation program and generators were made by attaching cymbal type metal plates on upper and bottom sides of a disc type piezoelectric ceramic. Output AC power was rectified to DC power by full bridge circuit and converted to regular voltage power by DC-DC converter. The final output power was charged to Ni-Cd battery. Using fabricated generators, output voltages dependant on thickness of ceramic, displacement of vibration, frequency of vibration were measured.

  • The dynamic response of an eccentric Griffith crack in functionally graded piezoelectric ceramic strip under anti-plane shear impact loading is ana lysed using integral transform method. Laplace transform and Fourier transform are used to reduce the problem to two pairs of dual integral equations, which are then expressed to Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. We assume that the properties of the functionally graded piezoelectric material vary continuously along the thickness. The impermeable crack boundary condition is adopted. Numerical values on the dynamic stress intensity factors are presented for the functionally graded piezoelectric material to show the dependence of the gradient of material properties and electric loadings.

  • This paper present a new sort of multilayer piezoelectric ceramic transformer for AC-adapter. This piezoelectric transformer operates in the second longitudinal vibration mode. The output voltage of the multilayer piezoelectric transformer was simulated using ANSYS, that is one of the FEM analysis program. As results, the minimum displacement was occurred at the two paints where one is the middle of input and the other is middle of output side in second thickness extensional vibration mode.   • In order to develop the composition ceramics capable of being sintered at low temperature with high piezoelectric properties for multilayer piezoelectric actuator application, PZW-PMN-PZT system ceramics were manufactured according to sintering aid $Li_2CO_3$ addition and their microstructural, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. The crystal structure of the specimens showed a perovskite phase and no pyrochlore or other second phase was detected. At the sintering temperature of $900\;^{\circ}C,\;0.2\;wt%Li_2CO_3$ added specimen showed a optimum values of kp = 0.562, $d_{33}\;=\;360\;pC/N$ and Qm = 1184, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the material for multiayer piezoelectric ceramic transformer because multiayer piezoelectric transformer must need low sintering temperature. So that PMN-PSN-PZT family ceramics were added with glass brit(SiO$_2$ $.$ PbO). The dielectric and piezoelectric properties were increased with increasing it until the amounts of additive 0.8wt%. Sintering temperature were low about 100[$^{\circ}C$]. Accordingly, This material could be used to multiayer piezoelectric transformer .

  • Design of a piezoelectric actuator for the ultrasonic motor must ensure that contact point has elliptic trajectory of movement. The new idea of an elliptic trajectory formation of the piezoelectric actuator is investigated in the paper. Shaking beam for the piezoelectric linear ultrasonic motor was introduced to realize this new idea. The principle is based on the excitation of longitudinal and flexural vibrations of the actuator by using two sources of longitudinal mechanical vibrations shifted by $\pi$/2. Mode-frequency and harmonic response analyses of the actuator based on FEM have been carried out. The moving trajectory of the contact point has been defined. Finally, The experimental research of shaking beam has been confirmed an opportunity of the elliptic trajectory reception with the help of one stable mode of the vibrations.

Electrical properties of a composite piezoelectric transducer (복합 압전 트랜스듀서의 전기적 특성)

  • A composite piezoelectric ceramic transducer is fabricated with three piezoelectric ceramic disk vibrators and two sheets of thin insulator. Its equivalent circuit is derived from the Mason's model of a thickness-driven piezoelectric vibrator. When the electric input near its fundamental resonance frequency is applied to the center vibrator and the output voltages across the left and the right vibrators are connected in series to the resistor loads, the load characteristics at resonance frequencies under the various resistor loads and the frequency characteristics near the resonance frequency without load are investigated. Furthermore, symbolic expressions for input impedances, voltage ratios, resonance frequencies, and bandwidths are derived. The data calculated from those symbolic expressions are agreed well with the measurement data.

  • In this paper, the variable tendency piezoelectric constant and resonance characteristics piezoelectric ceramics due to the electric field is studied. The practical application of piezoelectric ceramics is not only applied in field of small signal. For example, in case of an ultrasonic motor, $120{\sim}130Vrms$ of driving voltage is needed and that of an piezoelectric pump, $200{\sim}220Vrms$ of voltage is required. Therefore, to examine the characteristics of piezoelectric ceramics in large signal contributes to reducing the susceptibility to the multifarious application and securing the ease of the production of control circuit. These contributions may be connected to the expansion of industrial application. We fabricated disk-type piezoelectric ceramic samples by using conventional method and measured the resonance characteristics of these samples under from low to high voltage driving conditions. According to increasing the value of the input voltage, we measured the resonance frequency of the piezoelectric ceramic, and inquired into the cause of these phenomena.
