Phase Transition Behaviors of Lead-Free Piezoelectric (Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3)(1-x)-(BaTiO3)x (납이 포함되지 않은 압전 특성의 (Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3)(1-x)-(BaTiO3)x 상전이 거동 연구)

  • In this study, the phase transition behaviors of lead-free (Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3)(1-x)-(BaTiO3)x (NBT-BT) are investigated by using Brillouin spectroscopy. The elastic properties, sound velocity and absorption coefficient of NBT-BT are characterized as a function of temperature along different crystallographic axes. The temperature dependences of the elastic constants of NBT-BT near the morphotropic phase boundary are determined for the first time. The unpoled NBT-BT single crystals exhibits the typical relaxor behaviors, presenting broad acoustic and dielectric anomalies. The application of electric field induced discontinuous changes in the elastic properties at ~110℃, which indicates field-induced phase transition occurred. The electric field also changes the dielectric constant from more relaxor-like to ferroelectric-like dielectric behavior.

Effects of Sr on the Characteristics of PZT Ceramics Prepared by Hydrothermal Process (수열합성법에 의해 제조된 PZT의 특성에 미치는 Sr의 영향)

  • The sintering and electrical properties of the hydrothermal PSZT powders obtained by substituting 4, 6 and 8mol% Sr for Pb in PZT lattice structure were investigated. The lattice constant and particle size decreased in proportion to a quantity of Sr. The sintering properties of PSZT powders showed $7.754g/cm^3$ of sintered density and $4{\mu}m$ of grain size at sintering temperature of $1250^{\circ}C$. Curie temperature lowered gradually from $363.6^{\circ}C\;to\;319.2^{\circ}C$ and relative dielectric constants increased rapidly by a quantity of Sr. In comparison to PZT, moreover, the quality factor of PSZT was increased more than three times with increase of Sr mole ratio, and piezoelectric constant $(d_{31}\;and\;g_{31})$ was decreased. It was found that dielectric loss of PSZT was decreased by 0.574% which was half of PZT.

  • $Pb(Zr_{0.53}Ti_{0.47})O_3$ (PZT) was synthesized by a multiple wet dry process. Precipitates prepared from reaction between $ZrOCl_2{\cdot}8H_2O$ and $TiOCl_2$ and $NH_4OH$ in an aqueous solution was dried at $100^{\circ}C$, and calcined at $500^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$. The mixture mixed with PbO and as-dried or calcined $Zr_{0.53}Ti_{0.47}O_4$ (ZT) powders was calcined again at 700 and $800^{\circ}C$. Well crystallized ZT and PZT were formed at even $700^{\circ}C$. PZT piezoelectric ceramics of more than 98.5% in a relative density was obtained by sintering at as low as $900^{\circ}C$.

  • Dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Lead-free $(1-x)(Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5})TiO_3-xBiFeO_3$ceramics prepared by a conventional solid state reaction method were investigated in the range of x = 0~10 mol%. Piezoelectric coefficient was increased from 31 pC/N at x = 0 mol% to 64 pC/N at x = 6 mol% then decreased with increasing x. Electromechanical coupling factor ($K_p$) was increased up to 0.18 at x = 10 mol%. On the other hand, mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$) was decreased. Grain size was not much changed with various x and a single perovskite with tetragonal symmetry was maintained at all compositions forming a solid solution between $(Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5})TiO_3$ and $BiFeO_3$. Depolarization temperature ($T_d$) was gradually decreased with increasing x from $302^{\circ}C$ at x = 0 to $245^{\circ}C$ at x = 10 mol%.

  • A sandwich structure of dielectric material and air gap inside a rectangular waveguide is proposed as a fast electrically tunable low-loss phase shifter. As the dielectric material is shifted up and down by piezoelectric actuator and, thereby, the thickness of air gap is changed, the effective dielectric constant of the sandwich structure is varied. Phase shifters based on the sandwich structure with different dielectric materials showed phase shift of $20{\sim}200^{\circ}/cm$ at X-band as the thickness of air gap varied up to $30{\mu}m$. The idea can be extended toward low-loss millimeter wave phase shifters since modem microwave ceramics have been developed to show very low dielectric loss$(tan\;{\delta}{\sim}10^{-4})$.

  • The properties of piezoelectric and dielectric for 0.05Pb(Mn$\_$0.4/W$\_$0.2/Nb$\_$0.4/)O$_3$ - 0.95PbZr$\_$x/Ti$\_$1-x/O$_3$ compositions have been investigated. In the composition of 0.05Pb(Mn$\_$0.4/W$\_$0.2/Nb$\_$0.4/)O$_3$ - 0.95PbZr$\_$0.51/Ti$\_$0.49/O$_3$, the values of k$\_$p/ and $\varepsilon$$\_$33/$\^$T// $\varepsilon$$\_$0/ are maximized, but Q$\_$m/ was minimized (k$\_$p/=56.5[%], Q$\_$m/=1130, d$\_$33/=258[pC/N], $\varepsilon$$\_$33/$\^$T// $\varepsilon$$\_$0/=1170). The grain size was suppressed and the uniformity of grain was improved at the 1100[˚C]. Also, we can see the dielectric constants variations between the before poling and after poling. This effect results from the effect(increase element of dielectric constants) between dipole switching and electrostriction inducing stress and dipole direction to the poling orientation(decrease element of dielectric constants). At x=0.51, we can find MPB(morphotropic phase boundary).

  • This paper deals with a flat type ultrasonic motor, which uses a longitudinal-bending multi mode vibrator of rectangular form. This ultrasonic motor was designed by combination of the first longitudinal and eighth bending mode, and the motor consisted of a straight aluminum alloy bar bonded with piezoelectric ceramic elements as a driving element. The geometrical dimensions of the rectangular aluminum vibrator were determined by Euler-Bernoulli theory In the experimental device, piezoelectric ceramics ( a piece of ceramic for the L-mode, $24\;{\times}\;8\;{\times}\;1[mm]$, and four pieces for the B-mode, $12.5\;{\times}\;8\;{\times}\;1[mm]$) were attached to one side of a aluminum plate($100\;{\times}\;8\;{\times}\;1[mm]$), and the stator was supported with a plastic case. As results, no-load rpm was 50[rev./m] when applied voltage was 150[Vrms] at the resonance frequency, and as the voltage was increased, the rpm was increased.

  • Dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties and mechanical properties of NiO-doped Pb($(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3$ ceramics were investigated. Powders, prepared by columbite precursor method, were cold pressed and sintered at temperature ranging from $1100^{\circ}C$ to $1250^{\circ}C$. Dielectric constant and piezoelectric constant increased with amount of NiO up to 1 mol% and then decreased with further addition of NiO. It seems that NiO acts as a sintering aid at the sintering temperatures of $1150^{\circ}C$. When the samples were sintered at temperature above $1200^{\circ}C$, however, both dielectric constant and electromechanical coupling factor decreased and mechanical quality coefficient increased with addition of NiO. Hardness and fracture toughness of PNN-PT-PZ increased with addition of NiO up to 1 mol%, and then decreased slightly with further addition of NiO. These results showed that dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties and mechanical properties of PNN-PT-PZ system seemed to be closely related with microstructural factors such as grain size, bulk density and the amount of second phase.

Piezoelectric Properties of 0.94(Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-0.06(Sr0.5Ca0.5)TiO3 with 0.1 MnO2 Addition at Varying Sintering Temperatures (소결 온도에 따른 0.94(Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-0.06(Sr0.5Ca0.5)TiO3-0.1 MnO2의 압전 특성)

  • In this study, lead-free Piezoelectric $(Na_{0.47}K_{0.47}Sr_{0.03}Ca_{0.03})(Nb_{0.94}Ti_{0.06})O_3$-0.1 $MnO_2$ ceramics were fabricated using mixed oxide method and the effects of various sintering temperature on the structural and electrical properties were investigated. For the $(Na_{0.47}K_{0.47}Sr_{0.03}Ca_{0.03})(Nb_{0.94}Ti_{0.06})O_3$-0.1 $MnO_2$ (NKN-SCT-$MnO_2$) ceramics sintered at temperatures of $1,025{\sim}1,100^{\circ}C$. The results indicated that all specimens were perovskite single phase formation without any second phase. It has been shown that relative density is increased to increasing sintering temperature. When the sintered temperature at $1,075^{\circ}C$, highest sintered density and maximum value of $4.45g/cm^3$. Average grain size is increased to increasing sintering temperature. The electromechanical coupling factor, dielectric constant, dielectric loss, d33 and curie temperature at the sintering temperature $1,075^{\circ}C$ of NKN-SCT-$MnO_2$ specimens were 0.22, 511, 0.033, 103 and $380^{\circ}C$, respectively.

Electrical and Magnetical Characteristics for PZT/Ferrite Ceramics (PZT/Ferrite 합성 세라믹의 특성에 관한 기초연구)

  • This thesis deal with ferroelectric and ferromagnetic materials. PZT/Ferrite ceramics were made by the making process using PZT powder and garnet ferrite powder. PZT and ferrite are mixed as much 90%-10%, 50%-50%, and so on. After making samples, we are polishing samples until thickness is 0.1~0.2mm. We measured all kinds of samples in room temperature and applied magnetic field from -4500 to 4500 Oersted and conducted test of magnetical and electrical measurement using VSM and lpC resolution electrometer calibrated with RT66A pulsed tester. From this measurement, we can calculate tunability of these samples using C value obtained from P-E loop. As a result, it was able to measure magnetic characteristic when two matter had each other component ratio, and it was compound. However, it confirmed the possibility that was able to have ferroelectric characteristic with you in PZT 90% and ferrite 10%. Therefore, If this thing comes for PZT 50% and ferrite 50% have ferroelectric characteristic as him in a compound sample ore, can use this in an oscillator, supersonic waves detector in addition to a piezoelectric element. It may contribute to multipurpose of an element and demands such as a miniaturization of equipment, efficiency, reduce of a price which can use a characteristic of two components.
