One of the recent and most significant technical properties can be expressed as "digital convergence," which is helping lead the technical paradigm into a ubiquitous environment. As an initial trial of realizing a ubiquitous environment, the convergence between broadcasting and telecommunication fields is now on the way, where it is required to develop a scalable video coding scheme for one-source and multi-use media. Traditional scalable video coding schemes have, however, limitations for higher stable picture quality especially on the region of interest. Therefore, this paper introduces an adaptive scanning method especially designed for a higher regional-stable picture quality under a ubiquitous video coding environment, which can improve the subjective quality of the decoded video by most-preferentially encoding, transmitting, and decoding the top-priority image information of the region of interest. Thus, the video can be more clearly visible to users. From various simulation results, the proposed scanning method in this paper can achieve an improved subjective picture quality far better than the widely used raster scan order in conventional video coding schemes, especially on the region of interest, and without a significant loss of quality in the left-over region.

Silver paste curing process is very important in LCoS panel manufacture because incomplete curing process will cause poor bonding strength and increase resistance. The imperfection situation results in poor reliability and the variation of the common voltage, respectively. The change of the common voltage causes image flicker. According to Kinetics, we acquire activation energy by using dynamic DSC and compare two kinds of silver paste. From the result of isothermal DSC, we get optimum curing parameters to solve the flicker problem caused of incomplete curing of the silver paste.

The LED light source has many excellent advantages for the application of LCD backlight module. As we know, the operational temperature can significantly influence the characteristics of LEDs. Heat can damage the LED 's quality, and decrease its lifetime and output light intensity. In this paper, we perform computer software, Flomerics CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), to simulate heat distribution of the 20.1" LED backlight module we designing, and realize how the different heat sinks can solve the serious heat problem in practice.

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic information related to electronic picture books and implications for the development of high-quality in-home child care service programs by examining the perceptions and actual conditions of electronic picture books. A survey was conducted with 216 in-home childcare workers from the one Healthy Family Support Center who participated in the workshop on electronic picture books and 161 students from the Department of Early Childhood Education at two Universities as a comparison group. The findings are as follows. First, there was no difference between the two groups in recognition of ICT competencies and satisfaction with electronic picture books. Second, both groups viewed electronic picture books are effective in preparing for the information age and very positive in providing electronic picture books. Third, the valuation of electronic picture books in both groups was higher than that of paper picture books. Fourth, there was no significant difference between the two groups in valuing e-picture books by ICT competence. The results of this study provide implications for the development of systematic educational programs to enhance the job performance of in-home child providers, which will be expanded in the future, by examining ICT competencies, e-picture book actual utilization, and recognition between the in-home childcare providers and ECE students.

This paper presents an improved redundant picture coding method that efficiently enhances the error resiliency of H.264. The proposed method applies polyphase downsampling to residual blocks obtained from inter prediction and selectively encodes the rearranged residual blocks in the redundant picture coding process. Moreover, a spatial-temporal sample construction method is developed for the redundant coded picture, which further improves the reconstructed picture quality in error prone environments. Simulations based on JM11.0 were run to verify the proposed method on different test sequences in various error prone environments with average packet loss rates of 3%, 5%, 10%, and 20%. Results of the simulations show that the presented method significantly improves the robustness of H.264 to packet loss by 1.6 dB PSNR on average over the conventional redundant picture coding method.

Fluttering ghost which is the most severs picture impairment in mobile TV reception under multipath fading environments can be detected by measuring the dynamic variation of the synchronizing pulse timing. And also, the occurrence-stucture of fluttering ghost are directly correlated with the multipath parameters. This paper describes the quantitative evaluating method of the mobile TV pictures impaired by multipath parameters by means of the spectral analysis of synchronizing timing fluctuation. The ghost-flutter curve derived from the spatial amplitue spectrum of synchronizing pulse timing fluctuation express well the spatial variation characteristic, and it has been found to be the quantitative evaluating measure of picture impairment in mobile reception. A correspondence between the ghost-flutter curve (and/or index) and picture quality opinion test results is established.

Recently, CMOS image sensor is rapidly used as an image capture device such as mobile phone or notebook PC. Because of poor quality of image by CMOS image sensor, ISP is essential step to improve image quality. In this paper, we implemented and simulated ISP algorithm for real time moving picture of CMOS image sensor. Especial Iy, we concentrated on color interpolation, which extracts three color component from uncompleted color information. Several algorithms for color interpolation are implemented and analyzed to acquire a good quality of picture. Finally, we proposed an improved algorithm and confirmed the effectiveness by experimental simulation results.

The picture quality of a plasma display panel is very sensitive to the phosphor characteristics such as luminescence, decay time, surface properties, and even longevity of phosphor material in itself. In our previous work, the discharging characteristics in green cell of PDP were demonstrated to be enhanced by coating $Zn_2SiO_4:Mn^{2+}$ phosphors with positively charged metal oxide such as MgO. Here, $Zn_2SiO_4:Mn^{2+}$ phosphors were coated by various metal oxides for examining the coating effect on the picture quality. Specially, longevity while fabricating the panel was investigated for panel application in this work. Also the effects of ion and electron bombardment on the phosphor surface will be discussed in this work.

The Purposes of this article are to find Christian religion and Germany expressionism which were background of Nolde's art and analyze formation and special quality, expression mode of holy picture. If synthesize contents of these analysis, we could know that faith is giving religious inspiration continuously during his lift to Protestant experience through the Bible. Though there is some difference by time but we could foretell that he accomplished modern holy picture of new sensitivity by doing individual expression with equal Bible subject traditionally in 20th century that change unlike existent holy picture with these motive power. That is, with new trend which religious inspiration as imagination which spring up in experience that is not experience of artificial Christian religion is then expressionism various that historically, he accomplished unique holy picture to related each other with the historic event.

현재 디지털 위성 TV, CATV, 디지털 지상 TV와 같은 디지털 방송 서비스에서는 MPEG-2로 압축된 다수의 비디오 프로그램들을 일정 비트율을 갖는 하나의 기존 방송 채널을 통하여 동시에 전송한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 환경에서 각 프로그램을 VBR (Variable Bit Rate) 압축 부호화하는 부호화기들을 동시에 제어함으로써 프로그램들간의 상대적 화질을 정확하게 제어할 수 있는 결합 화질 제어 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 결합 화질 제어되는 모든 프로그램의 영상들에 대한 전체 목표 비트 할당과정에서 비디오 버퍼의 넘침과 고갈을 방지하고, 비트율-왜곡 곡선의 변형처리에 의하여 고화질을 요구하는 프로그램들과 나머지 프로그램들의 상대적인 화질을 PSNR 관점에서 정확하게 제어한다. 한편 본 논문에서는 결합 화질 제어의 기반이 되는 MPEG-2 비디오에 대한 비트율-왜곡 추정 방식을 제시하고 시험을 통하여 성능을 평가한다. 제안된 비트율-왜곡 추정의 장점은 추정을 위한 주 연산이 양자화기에 입력되는 DCT 계수의 히스토그램을 구하는 것이므로 계산량이 매우 적고, 추정 결과가 실제의 MPEG-2 비디오 응용에 적용할 수 있을 만큼 정확하다는 것이다. 실험 결과 제안된 화질 제어 방식을 한 채널을 통해 전송되는 비디오 프로그램들간의 상대적인 화질을 매우 정확하게 제어할 뿔만 아니라 각 프로그램을 독립적으로 부호화하는 방식에 비하여 보다 일관된 화질과 향상된 화질을 제공함을 확인하였다.
