  • Today, we are living in an information era during which we are flooded with information, and it is not an exception also in the magazine field. This study aimed to identify the unique characteristics of magazines by men's magazine companies as research into the big three men's magazines licensed in Korea. Accordingly, concerning a detailed research method, a practical study was carried out on the basis of statistics about the proportion of the contents composition in those magazines. This is because all magazines realize a target point to which their companies aspire, through the contents composition using articles or a pictorial magazine. As a result of thestudy, in the big three licensed men's magazines (Esquire, Arena, and GQ) in Korea, the highest proportion of the contents composition was the proportion of advertising, posting 37.5% on average, which was followed by the proportion of articles or a pictorial concerning fashion, marking 26.8% on average. Therefore, the domestic licensed men's magazines, which were identified by the proportion of the contents composition, were discovered to have thecharacteristics of a fashion magazine. Furthermore, they were found to be published with as lightly different contents composition based on a magazine concept pursued by each magazine company.

  • Soshaewon(瀟灑園) is the historical relic No. 34, and located in the upper part of Kwangju-dam in Damyang. It is a Byulseo-garden(別墅庭園), a retreated garden near residence, that is constructed by Yang San-Bo(梁山甫, 1503-1557) in 1530's. That is to say, Soshaewon is a space of life that is situated near the village called Changam-chon(蒼岩村), and a place to study, lecture and importune among literary men. Therefore, we can see that it is of great significance in the architectural, landscape architectural, and literary aspects. This paper is based on the 'Pictorial Map of Soshaewon(瀟灑園圖, 1775)' and 'Forty- eight Poems(四十八詠)' composed by Kim In-Who(金麟厚) in 1548. The 'Pictorial Map of Soshaewon' which describes a vestige of Soshaewon makes it easy to understand the composition of space, by offering the important clues to the prototype of Soshaewon. Moreover, 'Forty-eight Poems' are very valuable references from which we can consider an ideal and internal meaning of Soshaewon. In this paper, the central objective is to observe the consitituents of architectural space of Soshaewon; architectural, stone-built, water-spacial, landscape architectural, external- garden and behavioral elements. The research on Soshaewon is to be processed gradually in the future, but this paper is limited only to the areas presented in the 'Pictorial Map of Soshaewon' and "Forty-eight Poems."

  • This research is to find out the characteristics and significance of the plastic experiments with colored planes in Theo van Doesburg's works. Based on the analysis, the following results have been obtained. First, Thea van Doesburg's plastic experiments with colored planes started from the paintings in 1916-1918. series and series were made of the ion of still life or human motion. These paintings were intended to make effects of rhythm, acceleration and simultaneity. Second, he colored the outer and inner architectural surface with primary colors. The expression of visual. rhythm on the color design for De Vonk, Districts Housing Projects VIII & IX in Spangen, Multi-Housing in Oosterstraat, Friesian Housing, Landbouw Winter School, and University Hall in Amsterdam embodied the concept of painting-in-architecture. Third, the field of these experiments were extended into the architectural space. • In film various techniques interact organically in order to bring a story to life and, by doing so, influence the audience's perception. The techniques composing the form of a film are part of a format-system and therefore have to be well adjusted to the content of the film to trigger an intended effect. It is then that these techniques boost the intensity of the audience's emotional experience. The subject of analysis in this study of aesthetic composition, which is part of the concept of visual narrative, is the movie "Silence", which depicts a disturbing story based on real events. The goal of this study is the analysis of composition techniques used to support the film's narrative structure, where elaborate frame-composition and techniques are applied with great efficiency. Another goal is also to illustrate the meaning of film-format and its importance. Looking deeper into the question of how meaning and emotions, which are inherent in a film, finally manifest themselves on screen through a single shot, where the cinematographer's ideas and aesthetic vision come together and also the question of how a narrative structure in the context of a film works- these questions are the essence of this study.

  • This study aims to understand the ornamental space in Art-Nouveau style which was made up the ornamental aspect and spatial aspect. So that It is needed to classify the ornamental space into three categories according to the way of construction; pictorial composition, non-objective composition and organic construction. To find the meaning of these ornamental spaces, works of Art-Nouveau are analyzed into ornament and space, in result we know that process of integration, relativity of ornament as a part and forms of expression in ornamental space have some regulation; use of natural motive, repetition of image and organic combination. Whereas the ornamental space in Art-Nouveau style has comprehensive capacity between antagonistic relations just like tradition and new mechanism, the space could receive a lot of different ideas and express these ideas as ornaments. Although the ornamental space also had weak points which were the lack of transformation and the difficulties of the application of other design due to the perfection itself, we could create new space which meets the requirements of the times, if we develop and make up for the weak points in the ornamental space under the principles of dialectic.

  • This study was conducted under the judgement that there was a need to make several mentions by reference to studies about the spatial composition of the traditional village. The judgement was not about the dimension that there was a problem about the spatial composition of the existing village but that it would be effective to make a fresh reorganization of it in a little more detail. As a result, this study presented seven spaces in the spatial composition of the traditional village. It attempted to analyze it by dividing it into four spaces such as ① natural space, ② residential space and work space, ③ moving space and boundary space and ④ play space and ritual space to fit its basic nature. First of all, it made a pictorial presentation of the basic form of the spatial composition of the traditional farming village in the late Joseon Dynasty which was most general and whose form has been handed down up to the present. And it described the composition of each space accordingly. It was not intended for a specific village. So it presented the historical change, the behavior of the members surrounding the village and a difference according to the nature of the village, which were judged to be very important in explaining the items of the composition of each space. As a result, it was found that the spatial composition of the traditiona Korean village well embodied the framework of their life in terms of their view of nature, lifestyle and worldview. The view of nature acted on the spatial composition of the village as a whole and is well reflected in the natural space in particular. Their lifestyle is reflected in the residential space, farming space, moving space and play space, and their worldview is spcifically mirrored in the boundary space and ritual space. In particular, this study focused on how to take a look at the element of Feng-Shui in discussing the spatial composition of the village.

  • In this study the features expressed by the Korean dresses and its ornaments have been examined through the objects of this thesis, the concept of the pair, under the basis of Korean myths, from which esthetic and spiritual values have been derived. At first, the beauty of the balance pursuing the neatness. Since the pair is made with two piecess, at the time of the placement, the sense of the balance is obtained by the arrangement acccording to the dichotomous principle such as up and down or left and right. Sometimes, the pair could yield the natural pictorial composition, but almost of the time symmetrical composition. This kind of composition is made symmetrical like the structure of the human body, and it is resulted in a neat beauty, which visually presents a harmony, stability and intimacy. At second, the beauty of the harmony in the spirit of the oneness. From the dualistic combination basing on Korean myths, the common features and the significance of the co-existence, obtained from the combination of the pair of the pieces, could be found. By the oneness of the both elements, the creation principle, which is the basic one for a new life, could be established, and the mystery of the creation and the sense of the harmony could be found in it. At third, the wholeness of the completeness concept. The completeness could be felt rather by two than by one, and is provided with a room to be filled with the other one. Consequently, the outer dress is completed with the under dress, and its own beauty could only be made out when the two elements are harmonized. So, it is called as the pair. Like this, the concept about the pair taken roots in the ground of Korean emotions, is basing on the creation principle of the dualistic elements formed from the tradition of Korean myths, and the fact that the mental meaning pursuing the harmony dwells in Korean dress and its ornaments could be confirmed.
