The Human body is subject to two patterns of senescence, both of which are represented in the eye and vision. This article discusses the anatomical and physiological changes in anterior and posterior segments which occur with age. The areas covered include the globe, lids, tears, conjunctiva, cornea, sclera, anterior chamber angle, iris, lens, choroid, vitreous and retina. A sample of 219 individuals between the ages of 50 and 79 years was tested with case history, slit lamp examination, palpebral fissure, horizontal visible iris diameter(HVID) and pupil size. The palpebral fissure decreases with age while HVID remains constant in all age classes. This study suggests that an understanding of anatomical and physiological changes which occur with age is helpful to all eye clinicians because the aging process affects all of the ocular tissues.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of physiological and behavioral factors on the bone density of 125 middle aged women who visited Saint Bundo Hospital. 16.1% of subjects had osteoporosis and 40.3% had osteopenia according to the measurement of the bone density of lumbar spine. Mean age was 56.9 in osteoporosis group and 53.7 in osteopenia group. It was significantly different from the mean age of control group, 50.7. The mean bone density of the women who had menarche after 15 years old was significantly lower than that of the women who had menarche before 15. But the age of menopause, the total year of menstruation, irregularity of the menstrual cycle and percentage of subjects who had ovariectomy were not significantly different among osteoporosis, osteopenia and control group. The use of medication such as oral contraceptive, steroid, depressant, diuretic, and Ca supplement and the preference of salty food were not significantly different among three groups. The percentage of subjects who had rheumatism, gastric ulcer, and pain in neck or shoulder was higher in osteoporosis and osteopenia group than in control group. This study shows that the age and the age of menarche affect the bone density, and that behavioral factors were not sig nificantly different in osteoporosis and osteopenia group compared to the control group. Further researches are needed to find out the effective way to minimize the effect of age and other physiological conditions on the decrease of bone density.
Job stress weakens physical ability causing the diseases related to working condition, decreases a production level, and increases mistakes and accidents. This study examined the relationship between job stress and human error, and focused on the moderating effect of age and maintenance type on the relationship between job stress and human error. The study used a quantitative design based on the 450 questionnaires of maintenance personnel in the Air force. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that physiological and psychological stress responses have positively related with human error. In moderating effect test, age appeared to impact on the relationship between physiological/behavioral stress and human error.
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of short road transportation in an open truck during hot season on live weight shrink, physiological responses, and carcass and meat quality of Omani sheep at 6 and 12 months of age. Thirty-six male sheep, 18 of each age group, were used. Age groups were assigned randomly to transported and not-transported groups. The transported group was transported to the slaughterhouse the day of slaughter in an open truck covering a distance of approximately 100 km. The average temperature during transportation was $37^{\circ}C$. The not-transported group was kept in a lairage of a commercial slaughterhouse with ad libitum feed and water for 48 h prior to slaughter. Blood samples were collected from sheep before loading and prior to slaughter via jugular venipuncture to assess their physiological response to transport in relation to hormonal levels. Animals were weighed just before loading onto a truck and after transport to assess shrinkage. Muscle ultimate pH, expressed juice, cooking loss percentage, WB-shear force value, sarcomere length and colour L*, a*, b* were measured on samples from longissimus dorsi, biceps femoris and semitendinosus muscles collected at 24 h postmortem at $1-3^{\circ}C$. Live weight shrinkage losses were 1.09 and 1.52 kg for 6 and 12 month transported sheep, respectively. The transported sheep had significantly (p<0.05) higher cortisol, adrenaline, noradrenaline, and dopamine concentration levels prior to slaughter at both ages than the not-transported sheep. Transportation significantly influenced meat quality characteristics of three muscles. Muscle ultimate pH and shear force values were significantly higher, while CIE L*, a*, b*, expressed juice and cooking loss were lower in transported than not-transported sheep. Age had a significant effect on meat quality characteristics of Omani sheep. These results indicated that short-term pre-slaughter transport at high ambient temperatures can cause noticeable changes in physiological and muscle metabolism responses in sheep.

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of changing the tilt angle of the exercise bed on physiological characteristics of trapezius, multifidus, and hamstring muscle function. Methods: Twenty elderly who complains of back and lumbar pain or discomfort participated in this study (average age: $64.70{\pm}4.55$ years). The physiological characteristics, including muscle tone (F), dynamic stiffness (S), and elasticity (D) of trapezius, multifidus, and hamstring muscles were measured by a Myoton device at three tilt angles (0, 15, and 30 degrees) during exercise. Results: The muscle tone, dynamic stiffness, and elasticity of the right trapezius and left hamstring muscle showed significant differences (p<0.05) according to exercise bed tilt angle, while the other muscles showed no significant differences. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that physiological characteristics of the upper and lower extremity muscles are affected ipsilaterally, according to the tilt angles of the exercise bed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the principal reasons for primary teeth extractions and the tooth type extracted in children. 1159 patients were selected in this study. Dental records and radiographs were reviewed and age, gender, medical history, type of tooth extracted and the reasons for extraction were collected. The data were statistically analyzed using Chi-square test. Total 2078 primary teeth were extracted. Central incisors(34.1%) were most frequently extracted. Extractions due to physiological mobility(77.5%) were the most frequent followed by caries(13.8%), orthodontic(3.9%), trauma(1.7%). Reason for the extraction was different according to age (p = 0.000), but there was no difference according to gender (p = 0.109). While extractions due to physiological mobility predominated overall, reason for extraction was different according to the tooth type. There was no previous treatment in 54.6% of primary teeth extracted due to caries. Excluded physiological mobility, caries are the most common reason for extraction of primary teeth. The importance of preventive care should be emphasized in order to preserve primary teeth and improve children's oral health.
Purpose: The aim of study was to investigate relationship between compliance and recovery of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee patients after knee arthroplasty. Methods: 193 patients living in Seoul were participated in this study. Data were collected using the Knee Society Clinical Rating System and Medical Outcomes Study Short Form 36(SF-36) and analyzed by ANCOVA, t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA. Results: There was a significant difference of physiological recovery based on the number of co-morbidity patients have. Physical recovery level was different according to age, religion, and the number of co-morbidity. Age and education level of patients were different in emotional recovery. The level of physiological and physical recovery were significantly different consistent with compliance. Compared to preoperative scores, physiological and physical scores showed significant improvement at six weeks, three months, and six months after surgery while emotional scores did not showed significant improvement. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that nursing interventions to increase compliance are needed for better recovery of patients after knee arthroplasty.
Since the advent of growth hormone(GH), children with a wide variety of growth disorders have received GH treatment. In GH deficiency(GHD), Turner syndrome, chronic renal failure, children born small for gestational age, Prader-Willi syndrome, and idiopathic short stature, the therapeutic effects and safety profile of GH are reviewed. GH therapy has been clearly shown to improve height velocity and final adult height in a variety of pediatric conditions in which growth is compromised irrespective of GHD. Early initiation and individualization of GH treatment has the potential to normalize childhood growth. The supra-physiological doses of GH have been shown to increase height velocity during childhood and final height in non-GHD conditions. Adverse events during GH therapy are uncommon and often not drug related. However continued surveillance into adult life is crucial, especially in children receiving supra-physiological doses or whose underlying condition increases their risk of adverse effects.
The purpose of this literature review was to identify the physiological changes with aging. The results of this renew were to follows : We have seen a wide variety of such changes in the cells and in all organ systems. 1. At least 40 percent of people over 65 will die of cardiac disease, 15 percent of cerebrovascular disease, and possibly another 5 percent of other types of vascular impairment. 2. The increase rigidity of the thoracic wall and the decreased strength of the expiratory muscles decrease the propulsive effectiveness of the cough. 3. The density of capillaries per motor units is decreased. 4. Starting before age 40 in both sexes there is a shift from an increase in bone mass to a progressive decrease. 5. Histologic studies show a lim age-correlated decrease in the number of Pacini's. Merkel's, and Meissner's corpuscles.

Before examining stress and physiological variables (immunity, inflammation), this study conducted a pilot test to provide basic data by analyzing depression and anxiety symptoms by age group for stress coping and coping methods. As a non-face-to-face method, BDI and STAI by age group (20s to 70s) and face-to-face survey were conducted concurrently and as follow-up surveys. In 20s to 60s, according to the coping method, there was a significant decrease after stress relief, and in all age groups, anxiety decreased significantly after stress relief, and in the 50s, stress coping with exercise was the lowest after stress relief. Based on the results of this study, through basic research according to psychological variables, physiological variables according to actual stress coping methods were further verified, and subjects with high stress levels were treated with long-term exercise therapy for depression and anxiety symptoms by exercise therapy. It will be necessary to additionally verify the appropriate stress coping method for each age group and subject, such as the correlation between improvement and immunity and inflammatory response.
