We have frequently encountered the rapid changes that prevalent opinion of the social community is toppled by a new and opposite opinion against the pre-exiting one. To understand this interesting process, mean-field model with infinite-interaction range has been mostly considered in previous studies S. A. Marvel et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 118702 (2012). However, the mean-field interaction range is lack of reality in the sense that any individual cannot interact with all of the others in the community. Based on it, in the present work, we consider a simple model of opinion consensus so-called basic model on the low-dimensional lattices (d = 1, 2) with finite interaction range. The model consists of four types of subpopulations with different opinions: A, B, AB, and the zealot of A denoted by $A_c$, following the basic model shown in the work by S. A. Marvel et al.. Comparing with their work, we consider the finite range of the interaction, and particularly reconstruct the lattice structure by adding new links when the two individuals have the distance < ${\sigma}$. We explore how the interaction range ${\sigma}$ affects the opinion consensus process on the reconstructed lattice structure. We find that the critical fraction of population for $A_c$ required for the opinion consensus on A shows different behaviors in the small and large interaction ranges. Especially, the critical fraction for $A_c$ increases with the size of ${\sigma}$ in the region of small interaction range, which is counter-intuitive: When the interaction range is increased, not only the number of nodes affected by $A_c$ but also that affected by B grows, which is believed to cause the increasing behavior of the critical fraction for $A_c$. We also present the difference of dynamic process to the opinion consensus between the regions of small and large interaction ranges.

Soil erosion due to climate change is one of the global environmental issues. Especially, Korea is vulnerable to soil erosion as the frequency of extreme rainfall events and rainfall intensity are increasing. Soil erosion causes various problems such as reduced farmlands, deterioration of water quality in rivers, etc. To these severe problems, understanding the process of soil erosion is the first process. Then, it is necessary to quantify and analyze soil ersoion using an erosion model. Soil erosion models are divided into empirical, conceptual, and physics-based models according to the structures and characteristics of models. This study used GSSHA (Gridded Surface Subsurface Hydrologic Analysis), the physics-based erosion model, running on WMS (Watershed Modeling System) to analyze soil erosion vulnerability of the CheonCheon watershed. In addition, we compared the six sediment transport capacity formulas provided in the model and evaluated the equations fir on this study site. Therefore, this result can be as a primary tool for soil conservation management.

The polycrystalline superconductor $SmBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$ is fabricated, and intergranular magnetic properties are investigated using the critical state model, from which some useful parameters such as the critical current density and the intergranular volume fraction are obtained. The curve fitting for M-H hysteresis loop shows that the intergranular critical current density of $SmBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$ / decreases in the form of ($1-T/T_{c}$ )$^{1.5}$ . The intergranular volume fraction is influenced by granular morphology. From SEM image, the grains of $SmBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$ are found to be randomly shaped. This mean:; that the intergranular volume fraction of $SmBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$ / should be smaller than those of superconductors, of which grains are plate-shaped such as Tl-based superconductor.
The Molten Salt Reactor (MSR), one of the six advanced reactor types of the 4th generation nuclear energy systems, has many impressive features including economic advantages, inherent safety and nuclear non-proliferation. This paper introduces a system analysis code named TREND, which is developed and used for the steady and transient simulation of MSRs. The TREND code calculates the distributions of pressure, velocity and temperature of single-phase flows by solving the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy, along with a fluid state equation. Heat structures coupled with the fluid dynamics model is sufficient to meet the demands of modeling MSR system-level thermal-hydraulics. The core power is based on the point reactor neutron kinetics model calculated by the typical Runge-Kutta method. An incremental PID controller is inserted to adjust the operation behaviors. The verification and validation of the TREND code have been carried out in two aspects: detailed code-to-code comparison with established thermal-hydraulic system codes such as RELAP5, and validation with the experimental data from MSRE and the CIET facility (the University of California, Berkeley's Compact Integral Effects Test facility). The results indicate that TREND can be used in analyzing the transient behaviors of MSRs and will be improved by validating with more experimental results with the support of SINAP.
In physics-based character animation, trajectory optimization has been widely adopted for automatic motion synthesis, through the prediction of an optimal sequence of future states of the character based on its system dynamics model. In general, the system dynamics model is neither in a closed form nor differentiable when it handles the contact dynamics between a character and the environment with rigid body collisions. Employing smoothed contact dynamics, researchers have suggested efficient trajectory optimization techniques based on numerical differentiation of the resulting system dynamics. However, the numerical derivative of the system dynamics model could be inaccurate unlike its analytical counterpart, which may affect the stability of trajectory optimization. In this paper, we propose a novel method to derive the closed-form derivative for the system dynamics by properly approximating the contact model. Based on the resulting derivatives of the system dynamics model, we also present a model predictive control (MPC)-based motion synthesis framework to robustly control the motion of a biped character according to on-line user input without any example motion data.

Racing game requires plausible physics model that can be simulated in realtime. Minor artifacts in racing games are easily noticed, and any kinds of games should work interactively. It is difficult to model the accurate tire-ground physics and to integrate the model into realtime environments. In this paper, an efficient and effective 'imaginary wall' model was proposed. The method can be easily implemented because of the simplicity of the physical model used, and the result of the simulation is realistic enough for the racing games.
Based on the capture-emission energy (CEE) maps of CMOS devices, a physics-informed machine learning model for the bias temperature instability (BTI)-induced threshold voltage shifts and low frequency noise is presented. In order to incorporate physics theories into the machine learning model, the integration of artificial neural network (IANN) is employed for the computation of the threshold voltage shifts and low frequency noise. The model combines the computational efficiency of IANN with the optimal estimation of Gaussian mixture model (GMM) with soft clustering. It enables full lifetime prediction of BTI under various stress and recovery conditions and provides accurate prediction of the dynamic behavior of the original measured data.

Many researches have reported that it is difficult to solve students' difficulties in learning science with teaching models focused on certain aspects because of various reasons. Recently, in science education research, the integrated perceptive has been to put emphasis on understanding complex situations of real teaching and learning. In this research context, the integrated mental model theory that were considered as a whole factor related to learning has been studied by integrating previous studies that related to students' conceptions and learning in various fields. Thus, it is needed that the teaching model be based on the integrated mental model theory to help students to solve their difficulties. The purpose of this research was to develop a new teaching model based on the integrated mental model theory to address this issue. We reviewed current studies on student difficulties and teaching models. After this, we developed 4M learning cycle teaching model. In this paper, we described the process of developing a new teaching model and discussed how to apply this teaching model to the practices. We also discussed the effects of 4M learning cycle teaching model based on the integrated mental model theory in learning science with its implications.

Transmission error (TE) is defined as "the angular difference between the ideal output shaft position and actual position". As TE is one of the major source of the noise and vibration of gears, it is originally studied with relation of the noise and vibration of the gears. However, recently, with the relation of mesh stiffness, TE has been studied for fault detection of spur gear sets. This paper presents a physics-based theory on fault diagnostics of a planetary gear using transmission error. After constructing the lumped parameter model using DAFUL, multi-body dynamics software, we developed a methodology to diagnose the faults of the planetary gear including phase calculation, signal processing. Using developed methodology, we could conclude that TE could be a good signal for fault diagnostics of a planetary gear.

Earthquakes can induce a large number of landslides and cause very serious property damage and human casualties. There are two issues in study on earthquake-induced landslides: (1) slope stability analysis under seismic loading and (2) debris flow run-out analysis. This study aims to review technical studies related to the development and application of earthquake-induced landslide models (seismic slope stability analysis). Moreover, a pilot application of a physics-based slope stability model to Mt. Umyeon, in Seoul, with several earthquake scenarios was conducted to test regional scale seismic landslide mapping. The earthquake-induced landslide simulation model can be categorized into 1) Pseudo-static model, 2) Newmark's dynamic displacement model and 3) stress-strain model. The Pseudo-static model is preferred for producing seismic landslide hazard maps because it is impossible to verify the dynamic model-based simulation results due to lack of earthquake-induced landslide inventory in Korea. Earthquake scenario-based simulation results show that given dry conditions, unstable slopes begin to occur in parts of upper areas due to the 50-year earthquake magnitude; most of the study area becomes unstable when the earthquake frequency is 200 years. On the other hand, when the soil is in a wet state due to heavy rainfall, many areas are unstable even if no earthquake occurs, and when rainfall and 50-year earthquakes occur simultaneously, most areas appear unstable, as in simulation results based on 100-year earthquakes in dry condition.
