The purpose of this study was to research the work condition and the degree of job satisfaction of the physical therapist in Jeonnam East area. This study consisted of 120 physical therapists who were working in hospital located in Jeonnam East area from May, 19 to June 16, 2004. The data for analysis were collected by questionnaire survey. The major statistical methods used for the analysis were factor analysis, $x^2-test$, multiple regression analysis. The summarized result are as follows; 1. As for the general characteristics of the surveyed physical therapists was male 61($50.83\%$) and female 59($49.16\%$), majority was 26-30 in age. Most of the respondent worked in local clinics($62.5\%$). Also most of the respondent educated college graduation($68\%$). While the service period less than 12 months accounted for $41.7\%$. 2. The average marks by their job satisfaction factors indicated $56.7\%$ for duty importance, the relation with the patient accounted for $53.3\%$, the mending education for $18.3\%$, the equipment & institution for $20.9\%$. The average job satisfaction score was 3.04. 3. The comparative analysis of job satisfaction and general characteristics among different characteristics of the respondents revealed that there was significant difference between male and female, between 31-40years and 41years or more in ability knowledge & technique satisfaction. 4. The comparative analysis of job satisfaction and work conditions among different characteristics of the respondents revealed that there was significant difference between local clinics and hospital, between yosu&goheung and beolgyo in the mending education satisfaction. 5. Contributing factors for the job satisfaction in Physical therapist were welfare system, the relation with the patient, the service time per patient, mending education, the number of the patient.
The purpose of this study is to investigate musculoskeletal symptoms and job stress of physical therapists in their 20s who are responsible for therapeutic exercise and to understand the correlation between the two. This study conducted a research on 144 subjects based on the measurement tools provided by national institution. The results are as follows. Many subjects were experiencing musculoskeletal symptoms and disorder in their hands/wrists/fingers, shoulders, and waist with high proportionate of subjects experiencing the symptoms and disorder in their right hand/wrist/finger. Among job stress, job environment, job requirement, and compensation had significantly positive correlation with physical burden(r=.297~.392, p=.000). In particular, shoulder pain intensity has significantly positive correlation with job requirement, duration of pain in hand, wrist, and fingers as well as workplace culture(r=.331~.478, p=.003~.009) which indicates that musculoskeletal symptoms are some what correlated with job stress. Based on this study, it is necessary to show more concern and make an effort to manage musculoskeletal symptoms and job stress.
This study investigated the relationship between function classification systems and the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (PEDI) functional skills in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Two hundred and eleven children with CP participated in this study. The Korean-Gross Motor Function Classification System (K-GMFCS), Korean-Manual Ability Classification System (K-MACS), Korean-Communication Function Classification System (K-CFCS), and self-care, mobility, and social function domains of the Korean-Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory (K-PEDI) functional skills were measured by physical therapists or occupational therapists. All of the function classification systems were significantly correlated with PEDI functional skills ($r_s$=-.549 to -.826) (p<.05). Especially, K-GMFCS, K-MACS, and K-CFCS were correlated significantly with mobility, self-care, and social function, respectively. Using stepwise multiple regression analysis, we established that K-GMFCS, K-MACS, and K-CFCS were predictors of self-care skills (74.3%) and mobility skills (79.5%) of the K-PEDI (p<.05). In addition, K-CFCS and K-MACS were predictors of social function (65.9%) of the K-PEDI (p<.05). The information gathered in this study using the levels measured in the function classification systems may be useful to clinicians for estimating the PEDI functional skills in children with CP.
Objectives: This study was conducted to develop the Mobility to Participation Assessment Scale for Stroke (MPASS) and assess its content validity, internal consistency, inter-rater and intra-rater reliability, and convergent validity in people with stroke living in the community. Methods: The MPASS was developed using published data on mobility-related activity and participation timing in elderly individuals, and then reviewed by community physical therapists. Content validity was established by reaching a consensus of experienced physical therapists in a focus group. The MPASS was scored for 32 participants with stroke (mean age 61.75±4.92 years) by 3 individual testers. Reliability was examined using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), internal consistency using the Cronbach alpha coefficient (α), and convergent validity using the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) to compare the MPASS to the Modified Rivermead Mobility Index as a referent test of mobility. Results: The MPASS consists of 8 items, and its scoring system provides information on the ability of people with stroke to reach a movement level enabling them to live in society, including interactions with other people and safe living in the community. The interrater and intra-rater reliability were excellent (ICC, 0.948; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.893 to 0.982 and ICC, 0.967; 95% CI, 0.933 to 0.989, respectively). Internal consistency was good (α=0.877). The convergent validity was moderate (r=0.646; p<0.001). Conclusions: The newly developed MPASS showed acceptable construct validity and high reliability. The MPASS is suitable for use in people with stroke, especially those who have been discharged and live in the community with the ability to initiate sitting.

PURPOSE: To find out how wearing a mask due to COVID-19 affects cardiovascular function as the pace of walking changes. METHODS: Forty-nine college students (27 men, 22 women) were subjected to treadmill exercises without masks (Group I) and wearing masks (Group II). The body temperature, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure were measured to determine the changes in cardiovascular function. These parameters were measured at rest (Control I), low-intensity (Control II), medium-intensity (Control III), and high-intensity (Control IV) before and after exercise. RESULTS: Significant differences in heart rate were observed between Control III and Control IV, and a significant difference in oxygen saturation was noted in Control IV. Significant differences in the exercise intensity change in Group II were as follows: Body temperature was Control IV compared to Control I and Control II, heart rate was Control III and Control IV compared to Control I and Control II, and Control IV compared to Control III. The heart rate was Control III and Control IV compared to Control I and Control II, Control IV for Control III, oxygen saturation was Control IV compared to Control I, blood pressure was Control II and Control III and Control IV compared to Control I, and Control IV compared to Control II. CONCLUSION: Exercising when wearing a mask affects the cardiovascular system. Therapists should consider the patient's condition when setting the exercise intensity. In particular, therapists should be more careful when setting the exercise intensity of patients with cardiovascular disease.
Background: Effective management of clinical assessment tools is critical in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation research. Managing rehabilitation outcome measures (ROMs) scores and training therapists in multicenter randomized clinical trials (RCTs) is challenging. Objects: The aim of this study was to develop a web-based platform, the Korean Rehabilitation Outcome Measurement (KoROM), to address these limitations and improve both therapist training and patient involvement in the rehabilitation process. Methods: The development of the KoROM spanned from June 2021 to July 2022, and included literature and web-based searches to identify relevant ROMs and design a user-friendly platform. Feedback from six physical therapy and informatics experts during pilot testing refined the platform. Results: Several clinical assessment tools categorized under the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) model are categorized in the KoROM. The therapist version includes patient management, assessment tool information, and data downloads, while the patient version provides a simplified interface for viewing scores and printing summaries. The master version provides full access to user information and clinical assessment scores. Therapists enter clinical assessment scores into the KoROM and learn ROMs through instructional videos and self-checklists as part of the therapist standardization process. Conclusion: The KoROM is a specialized online platform that improves the management of ROMs, facilitates therapist education, and promotes patient involvement in the rehabilitation process. The KoROM can be used not only in multi-site RCTs, but also in community rehabilitation exercise centers.

Objective : The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of rehabilitation therapists' general characteristics and job involvement on stress. The subjects of this study were occupational therapists and physical therapists working for long-term hospitals and general hospitals located in K and B cities, South Korea. Methods : The study investigated general characteristics, job stress, and job involvement by using questionnaires. Analysis conducted on total 144 questionnaires excluding 19 questionnaires, which did not satisfy the subject selection criteria. Results : The results show that job involvement had significantly positive correlations with job requirement, job autonomy, relationship conflicts, organization system, inappropriate compensation, job instability, and workplace culture. Secondly, marital status, wage level, and job engagement explained 46.6% of variations in job stress. Conclusion : The study was meaningful in examining the variables influencing the job stress of rehabilitation therapists. We expect that it can be used for improving the job environment of rehabilitation therapists.

This article was researched that the question for cognition, requirement, plan of activation of the orthopaedic physical therapist in physical therapy room of public health center. We analysed with SPSS/10.0 stastistics programs returned 123 questionnaire. These results were followed. 1. Ratio of physical therapist in the physical therapy room of public health center was that mail were 47.2% and female were 52.8%. 2. The physical therapy room of public health center was made an introduction in 1980 and has since been opened. in 100 places. 3. 100 physical therapist (81.3%) were aware the impotance of orthopaedic physical therapy. 4. The members of orthopaedic physical therapy academy were 17 people(13.8%) including an associate member. 5. The physical therapist takened a course of orthopaedic education was 37 people (30.1%). 6. The physical therapist wanted that to take part in orthopaedic education were 60 people(48.8%). 7. The physical therapist were required the orthopaedic physical therapist in physical therapy room of public health center were 87 people(70.7%).
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate the awareness of physical therapy and difference between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy. Methods: A total of 183 subjects who gave consent to participate in the survey at five universities in Gyenggi-do were randomly selected and the survey was conducted from February 2012 to July 2013 by a questionnaire consisting of 13 questions. Frequency analysis for the awareness of the general characteristics of physical therapy, anticipated cost, awareness of difference, and cross tab analysis for correlation with each item were used. Results: Participants recognized the academic ability, and the department for management of physical therapist licensing very well. The kindness and workmanship of physical therapists were average. According to their experience of physical therapy, most participants received a hot pack and electrical therapy at a local clinic and satisfaction with treatment was high. The percentage of students who recognized a difference between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy was high, however, they misunderstood only electrical therapy for physical therapy and they recognized the exercise method of physical therapy for rehabilitation therapy. No correlation of the awareness of difference was observed between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy and the awareness of physical therapy, experience, and anticipated cost, except the major of students. Conclusion: We found that people can misunderstand exercise therapy for rehabilitation therapy even though they have good awareness of physical therapy. Therefore, a physical therapist has to find the ways to express their identity while working.

This study analyzes the factors involving clinical practice which have an influence on the satisfaction of students majoring in physical therapy at colleges or universities located in the Pusan and Kyungnam area. We investigated using a self-reporting method 305 students receiving a grade point average between 2.0 and 4.0 and who had finished their clinical practice. We also investigated the characteristics of clinical settings which make up the clinical practice, the general characteristics of the students involved and the characteristics of a clinical teaching method performed by physical therapists versus a teaching method by a professor of a university. The number of students divided according to educational background are as follows: 149 people (48.9% of the total group) were 4 year students, 156 people were 3 year students (51.1% of the total group). Sixty-nine students' or 22.6% of the group were men while women consisted of 236 persons or 77.4% of the group. Four year students had a longer clinical practice period than that of the 3 year students (p<.05). An average satisfaction score of students with their clinical practice was 3.84. The satisfaction scores showed no significant difference between genders, educational backgrounds, and grades. (p>.05). There were no significant differences in the satisfaction score of students with their clinical practice was 3.84. The most influential factor of determining clinical practice satisfaction was a student management system of the clinical practice (p<.01). The next most influential factors were the clinical practice period (p<.05), size of facilities (p<.01) and relationship with physical therapists (p<.01) ($R^2$=.554).
