The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between rotation of the humerus and the shoulder movement in the sagital, coronal, and diagonal planes. Thirty normal subjects(15 male. 15 female)were tested using Cybex NORMTM Testing & Rehabilitation System (CYBEX Division of LUMEX, Inc., Ronkinkoma, New York). The subjects performed active shoulder flexion, abduction and PNF patterns. The range of motion(ROM) of the glenohumeral joint was measured three times. In order to assure the statistical significance of the results. the independent t-test. and a pearson's correlation were applied of the .05 and .01 level of significant. The results of this study were as follow ;1. There were statistically significant differences between shoulder flexion with humerus medial rotation and shoulder flexion with humerus lateral rotation(p <.01). 2. There were statistically significant differences between shoulder abduction with humerus medial rotation and shoulder abduction with humerus lateral rotation(p <.01). 3. There were statistically significant differences between PNF pattern(flex-abd-ext rot) with humerus medial rotation and PNF pattern with humerus lateral rotation(p < .01).For effective rehabilitation of the shoulder, physical therapists must have correct knowledge of shoulder movements. Physical therapists should consider these results when the goal of treatment is to increase ROM of the shoulder.

The aim of this study was conducted to investigate the awareness and practice of personal hygiene and clinic hygiene of infection among physical therapist and to analyze the factors affecting it to provide basic data for the establishment of nosocomial infection management programs and policies in the physical therapist unit. In this study, 320 physical therapists were collected and analyzed. The study tool used a self-administered questionnaire to investigate general characteristics and awareness and practice of nosocomial infections. Responses were determined as 5-Likert scales and data were analysed using percentage, independent t-test, ANOVA. As a result of this study, 17.8% of infectious disease management departments were not found, and 41.6% of physical therapists were not educated about nosocomial infection. In addition, physical therapists with sufficient protective equipment for treatment were very low at 25.3%. Thus, in order to increase awareness and practice of nosocomial infection in the future, it is necessary to provide enough protective equipment for the treatment within the hospital, and it is considered that the nosocomial infection education of the physical therapist should be carried out regularly in the hospital itself.
The public health service center and its branch are, as one of public institution, responsible for providing non-profitable medical service to local residents, which can't be addressed by private medical institutes. In addition, as a planning coordinator, they need to manage local medical resources effectively to make sure local residents can be offered good-quality health service fairly and impartially. The purpose of this study was to highlight the importance of physical therapy in public health service center's successful role performance, one of treatment to which local residents had a direct access. For attaining the purpose, an investigation was made into the actual facilities of public health service center and its branches in North Cholla province, the extent of use of physicaltherapy room, and the general characteristics of physical therapists. And literatures concerned were referred to. As a result, the dominant opinion was that the current physicaltherapy room shoulder be more reinforced(38.9%) or that it should he kept as it was(46.5%). Besides, the physical therapists investigated still were serving in a poor working condition. To elevate the quality and quantity of medical service, the current way to employ expert personnels temporarily or not to guarantee the position of physiotherapists should be removed immediately. Instead, physicaltherapists should be employed as regular public official. As, in home-visit project, physiotherapist are expected to play a bigger role in rehabilitation care or the management of patients with chronic disease, the physicaltherapy room should be increased and more physicaltherapists should be provided to health service institutions.

The purpose of this study was to identify construct validity and reliability of instrument for professionalism in physical therapy using developed by American Physical Therapy Association for 470 physical therapists. The corrected data was analysed using confirmatory factor analysis and internal consistency. Model of professionalism was adequate (p<.05) and consisted of 7 factors. Standardized coefficients of construct factor were followed by the integrity (${\beta}$=.93), professional duty (${\beta}$=.92), and compassion/caring (${\beta}$=.86). There were significant difference in professionalism by career(p<.05) but not significant difference by sex(p>.05). Also, the internal consistency for sub-factor of professionalism demonstrated adequate reliability of the measure (Cronbach ${\alpha}$=.80~.96). Because instrument for professionalism in physical therapy have a validity and reliability, it is useful for measuring professionalism in physical therapists.

Purpose: For this study, low back pain was analyzed by determining the influences of pain threshold, proprioceptive sense, and balance ability. Method: A total of 80 college students participated in this study with 30 adults regarded as normal and 50 adults regarded as having lower back pain. Measurements for participants regarding pain threshold, proprioception, and balance ability were conducted from April 10 to May 16, 2014. Result: Results from this study show significant differences between groups for back with regards to cold pain threshold, warm pain threshold measurements. There were also significant differences in proprioception for extension measurements. Finally, there were significant differences when comparing groups regarding balance for total balance score. Conclusion: With this data, practicing physical therapists can realize that a difference may exist between the patient's perception of treatment received and the actual treatment given by professionals due to differences in threshold, proprioception and balance ability. It is important for physical therapists to understand the reliance on objective data showing the effects of threshold, proprioception and balance ability on patients with back pain.
Background: The purpose of this study was to present a practical method of medical treatment to improve the balance and motor ability of the mentally retarded child with a single mentally retarded child-subject. Methods: The subject of the study was a 39-month-old mentally retarded female. This study included a 2-week basic period and a 13-week treatment period. The treatment method was based on the Bobath Approach. Gross motor function measurement (GMFM) was used to examine changes in motor ability, and the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) was used to measure changes in balance ability. The curative program was composed of normalization of muscle tone, strengthening of leg endurance and muscular strength, the improvement of trunk alignment, and the increase of balance. Visual rate of change was used to examine the results. Results: As a result of this study, balance ability increased on the Pediatric Balance Scale (PBS) by 24 points, and motor function increased in terms of Gross Motor Function Measurement (GMFM) by 6.9% (18 points). Standing increased by 41% (16 points), and walking, running, and jumping increased by 31.9% (23 points) compared to thebasic period. Therefore, the Bobath Approach appears to be an appropriate method to improve balance and motor ability in mentally retarded children. Conclusion: It is surmised that aggressive intervention by physical therapists and occupational therapists, and a follow-up study, are required for the growth of motor ability in mentally retarded children.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to understand the influence of professionalism on job satisfaction and job performance of the physical therapist. Methods: Subjects were 148 physical therapists. We conducted a questionnaire survey on professionalism, job satisfaction, and job performance. Professionalism questions were 'Compliance of professional organization', 'Beliefs about public service', 'Autonomy', 'Beliefs about self-regulation', and 'Vocation awareness of the profession'. A regression analysis was then performed. Results: The subjects' average score for professionalism was $3.18{\pm}0.31$ points. The lowest score for satisfaction was observed for 'Compliance of professional organization'. Professionalism had an effect on job satisfaction. 'Vocation awareness of the profession (${\beta}=0.44$, p<0.001)', 'Beliefs about public service (${\beta}=0.25$, p<0.01)', and 'Autonomy (${\beta}=0.17$, p<0.05)' had an effect on job satisfaction. R square=0.46 (adjusted R square=0.45). Professionalism had an effect on job performance. 'Autonomy (${\beta}=0.29$), p<0.001)', 'Vocation awareness of the profession (${\beta}=0.22$, p<0.05)', and 'Beliefs about self-regulation (${\beta}=0.18$, p<0.05)' had an effect on job performance. R square=0.25 (adjusted R square=0.22). Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that in order to improve job satisfaction and job performance, it is necessary to improve professionalism. Therefore physical therapists should improve their professionalism ('Compliance of professional organization', 'Beliefs about public service', 'Autonomy', 'Beliefs about self-regulation', and 'Vocation awareness of the profession') in order to improve their job satisfaction and job performance. In addition, research to improve professionalism of the physical therapist should be continued.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to explore self-perceived objectives, effects, determinant factors of satisfaction and demands on home-based rehabilitation service (HBRS) based on a community-based rehabilitation (CBR) model in community-dwelling disabilities. Methods: This research was conducted through in-depth interview. HBRS was conducted by four physical therapists for one hour a day, once a week, for eight weeks. After an eight-week intervention period, in-depth interviews were conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire for five recipients of HBRS and six care givers. Results: For the physical effect, some participants experienced positive effects, whereas others did not due to the short-term intervention period. For the social and emotional effects, 'occurrence of motivation for exercise', 'change of surroundings' and 'sorriness for the therapist' emerged as keywords. For the determinant factors of satisfaction, 'movement-inducing therapy', 'therapy from the specialist', 'development of friendship & social network', and 'learning the way of self-rehabilitation' emerged as keywords. For further demands on HBRS, participants stated that 'sufficient time for therapy', 'user opinion-reflected therapy', 'additional instructions for therapeutic exercise & activities of daily living', and 'active promotion for HBRS' were necessary. Conclusion: Participants were satisfied with the physical, social, emotional, and educational aspects of HBRS. In particular, the participants regarded educational aspects as the significant factor throughout self-perceived objectives, determinant factors of satisfaction and the demands. This result suggests that when providing HBRS to community-dwelling persons with disabilities, therapists should recognize the necessity and significance not only of the physical, but also the educational aspect of HBRS.
