  • The purpose of this study was to investigate physical self concept between high school boys and girls and to find various factors affecting them. For the Survey, 331 respondents for boys and 347 for girls were randomly selected from one coeducational high school in Seoul, from May 16 to May 19, 1990. The instrument used in this questionaire survey method was a part of Won Shik Jung's Physical Self Concept Scale for measuring Self Concept, it's reliability was' Cronbach a = 0.718. For the analysis. descriptive statistics were used by calculating frequencies, percentages and mean scores. $X^2-test$, t-test, and analysis of variance were employed to test the differences and statistical significance. The relationship between physical self concept and area variables was analysed by use of Pearson's correlation coiefficients. For the examine of various factors affecting physical self concept, multiple stepwise regression method was employed. The results of this study are summarized as follows: 1. There was no significant difference in physical self concept between male and female students. 2. The scores of physical self concept among the students were negatively correlated with their academic year, even though statistical signification was not found. 3. Physical self concept was classified into two areas; health area and appearance area. There was no significant difference in health area between boys and girls. But, the difference of health area was significant in accordance with the academic years. That, the scores of the health area are dropped as academic year going up. 4. Significant relationship was revealed among health area, appearance area, and physical self concept. The correlation between health area and physical self concept was the highest relationship (r = 0.71) The main factors affecting the physical self concept were (1) father's educational background (2) year (3) number of brother (4) religion (5) father's age. 5. As academic year going up, the rate of counseling with parents are dropped. • The purpose of this study is to look at the fun that high school students from blind schools feel in sports programs. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 10 out of 12 blind schools nationwide, including 122 male and 102 female students. Research tools are open questionnaires and questions are as follows. - Questionnaire: "Write down three of the most interesting things about sports programs." The data analysis was done with frequency analysis and the following conclusions were drawn. First, male high school students at blind schools are able to build up their physical strength in the area of competent factors (control-self) (23, 21.5%), in the area of competent factors (7, 77.8%) and in the area of motion-related factors (competition) (24, 15.1%), and in the area of non-execution factors (26, 37.7%), Second, high school girls with visual impairments did not respond in the areas of proficiency (control-self) because of stress release (25, 26.6%), in the areas of control-tain), in the areas of movement (competition) because they were able to do various exercises (22, 15.7%), and in the areas of non-watering (environmental) (18, 37.5%). Third, in the sports program comparative analysis of high school students between genders of blind schools, boys are interested in health and physical fitness in the field of competent factors (control-self) and girls are considered to be a means of relieving stress. In the field of competent factors (control-others), boys and girls can react to a variety of sports opportunities. In the future, by studying the fun of students in the physical education program through research to find out more fun in the school physical education program, we will explore practical ways to maximize student participation and increase motivation level The educational aspect of the process, that is, the educational value provided by the physical education, should be composed of content that can change the thinking and behavior of the teacher and the student so that the program contents and operation method.

  • This study purports to review and discuss the evolution of Physical Education in terms of ecological viewpoint. To achieve this purpose, this study try to look for the meanings through the 2007 revised physical education curriculum. The reason that I look for the meanings from the curriculum is because the curriculum includes objectives, values and philosophical backgrounds in Physical Education. Through this study, I found the following results. Governmental active supports to reinforce roles of in-service teachers should be emphasized. Second, teacher should focus on Game strategies for Physical Education. Third, mental function for activities in Physical Education should be considered as an intelligence as one of H. Gardner's multiple intelligences rather than they are just accepted as the level of functions or a motor nerves. Fourth, Physical Education for 11 and 12 grades should be accepted as a requirement to maintain Physical Education. classes in high school as a normalization process.

  • Purpose: Dysmenorrhea is one of the most common gynecologic complaints of young women. This study investigated the changes in the menstrual cycle during test evaluations according to perfectionism and testing anxiety among high school girls in order to provide information for care of dysmenorrhea. Method: Data collection was done from July 14 to 18, 2008 by self administered questionnaires with 300 high school girls. Result: The subjects experienced amenorrhea(35.3%), changes in the menstrual cycle(66.3%), changes in menstrual duration(50.0%), changes in amount of menstruation(47.7%), and increases in menstrual pain during testing evaluations. There were significant differences in changes of menstrual patterns, physical symptoms, and menstrual pain during test evaluations between a high perfectionist group and low perfectionist group. Also, there were significant differences in changes of menstrual patterns, physical symptoms, and menstrual pain during test evaluations between a high testing anxiety group and low testing anxiety group. Perfectionism and testing anxiety showed a positive relationship with changes in menstrual patterns, physical symptoms, and menstrual pain. Conclusion: As perfectionism and testing anxiety seem to contribute to changes in the menstrual cycle during test evaluations, school health-care providers should screen routinely for dysmenorrhea and give more attention to health education on this topic to girls.

  • The purpose of this study was performed to evaluate the prevalence of overweight and to compare the dietary behaviors, nutrient intake and physical activities of specialized game high school students. Total of 163 subjects participated and their weight, height, waist circumference, hip circumference and bone status by a quantitative ultrasound method were measured. The subjects were surveyed by a self-administered questionnaire about general characteristics, dietary behaviors and physical activities. Nutrient intakes of the subjects were assessed by semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. The subjects were divided into four groups on their obesity level by BMI. The prevalence of underweight, normal, overweight and obese group was 6%, 58%, 16%, and 20% respectively. BMI was negatively correlated with bone mineral density (p < 0.01) and positively correlated with WHR (p < 0.01). The dietary guideline compliance score for "Enjoy Korean rice food style" was 2.63, followed by "Prepare food sanitarily"2.48, "Do not skip breakfast"2.29, "Eat a variety of vegetables, fruits, dairy products daily"2.25, "Drink water instead of beverage"2.10, "Choose less fried foods"2.09 and "Maintain healthy weight"1.91. The exercise frequency of walking was not significantly different between groups; however, heavy exercise frequency was significantly lower in underweight group than the other groups (p < 0.05). The energy intake was 2153 kcal, which was 81.2% of the Estimate Energy Requirement, and the intake of calcium and vitamin $B_2$ was 66.7% and 77.8% of KDRIs. Particularly, the intake of iron, vitamin A and vitamin C was about 59.4%, 52.2% and 55.4% of KDRIs and INQ was 0.71, 0.63 and 0.65 respectively, and intake of folic acid fell behind 39.1% of KDRIs and INQ was 0.46. Our study suggests that the systematic and continuous nutrition education will have to be provided at schools to improve dietary and health behaviors and prevent chronic metabolic disease for students of specialized game high school.
