  • This paper was analyzed the high-frequency harmonics, power conversion rate, results of the system's monitor, and measuring data of the system power output of a 3-phase photovoltaic power system for grid-connection. The photovoltaic power system consists of a 3-phase inverter array, and data acquisition system. The result of an analyzing data of the 50 kW class grid-connected photovoltaic system showed the stable behavior in utility-interactive operation.

  • This paper presents performance estimation approach of grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) system to predict energy yield from irradiance to PV system using normalized yield model for changing meteorological conditions. The accuracy and validity of proposed performance estimation method is identified by compared measured with estimated yield using monitored data. These results will indicate that it is useful to estimate various loss factors causing the system performance obstruction and enhance the lifetime yield of PV system.

  • This paper proposed a MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control algorithm for PV(Photovoltaic) array based on a modified constant voltage control MPPT algorithm at low insolation. This method which combined a reference voltage control and a constant voltage control algorithm. In contrast to the typical conventional MPPT algorithm, the proposed method have been obtained high efficiency and good performance in all insolation intensity. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment.

  • The photovoltaic power generation system has a great future as clean energy instead of fossil fuel which has many environmental problems such as exhausted gas or air pollution. In a utility interactive photovoltaic generation system, a three-phase inverter is used for the connection between the photovoltaic array and the utility. This paper presents a three phase inverter for photovoltaic power system with current controller, voltage controller PLL control system and the phase detector of interactive voltage by using do transformation. The proposed inverter system provides a sinusoidal are current for domestic loads and the utility line with unity power factor. The results of the operated from January to October show the system characteristics.

Design and Application of a Photovoltaic Array Simulator with Partial Shading Capability

  • PV system performance is dependent on different irradiations and temperature values in addition to the capability of the employed PV inverter / maximum power point tracker (MPPT) circuit or algorithm. Therefore, it would be appropriate to use a PV simulator capable of producing identical repeatable conditions regardless of the weather to evaluate the performance of inverter / MPPT circuits and algorithms. In accordance with this purpose, a photovoltaic (PV) array simulator is presented in this paper. The simulator is designed to generate current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) curves of a PV panel. Series connected cascaded modules constitute the basic part of the simulator. This feature also allows for the modeling of PV arrays since the number of modules can be increased and high voltage values can be reached with the simulator. In addition, the curves obtained at the simulator output become similar to the actual curves of sample PV panels with an increase in the number of modules. In order to show the validity of the proposed simulator, it was simulated for various situations such as panels under full irradiance and partial shading conditions. After completing simulations, experiments were realized to support the simulation study. Both simulation and experimental results show that the proposed simulator will be very useful for researchers to carry out PV studies under laboratory conditions.

  • 신 재생에너지에 대한 건축물 인증제도, 공공건축물 신 재생에너지 투자의무비율 확대 등 다양한 건축물 신 재생에너지 설비투자 지원정책으로 건축물 지붕을 활용한 태양광 사업 추진이 빠르게 확대되고 있다. 이러한 건물 지붕을 활용한 태양광 설비는 인접 건축물 또는 자체 구조물이나 시설에 의한 정밀한 음영분석이 필요함에도, 설계자의 경험이나 단순 그래픽툴에 의해 배치 설계가 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 건축물에 소요되는 에너지 일부를 지붕형 태양광 설비에 의한 생산전력으로 대체하고자 할 때, 특정 선정기준에 따른 태양광 어레이의 최적 배치안을 선정하는 프로세스 모델을 구축하고자 한다.

  • Monitoring system is constructed for evaluating and analyzing performance of installed 50kW grid-connected PV system and have been monitored since October 2005. As climatic and irradiation conditions have been varied through long-term operation, there is necessity for evaluating numerical values of PV(Photovoltaic) system performance to observe the overall effect of environmental conditions on their operation characteristics. This paper presents performance monitoring results and analysis on component perspective(PV array and power conditioning system) and global perspective(yield, losses) of PV system for one year monitoring periods.

  • In recent years, many investigations about photovoltaic power systems have been significantly carried out in the fields of renewable power energy. Such research area generally includes developments of highly efficient solar cells, advanced power conversion systems, and smart monitoring systems. A generic objective of fault detection and diagnosis techniques is to timely recognize unexpected faulty of dynamic systems so that economic demage occurred by such faulty is decreased by means of engineering techniques. This paper presents a novel fault detection approach for photovoltaic power arrays which are electrically connected in series and parallels. In the proposed fault detection scheme, we first measure all of photovoltaic modules located in each array by using electronic sense systems and then compare each measurement in turn to detect location of fault module through statistic computation algorithm. We accomplish real-time experiments to demonstrate our proposed fault detection methodology by using a test-bed system including two 20 watt photovoltaic modules.

  • 본 논문에서는 계통연계형 태양광 발전시스템의 태양전지 전류 추정을 위한 슬라이딩 모드 관측기 설계 방법이 제시되었다. 태양전지 전류 추정 정보는 슬라이딩 모드 관측기에서 얻어지고, 기준전압을 갱신하기 위한 최대전력 추적기의 입력정보로 사용되어 진다. 계통연계형 인버터의 입력 커패시턴스 값은 규정치의 50[$\%$] 정도까지 바뀔 수 있으며, 선형 관측기는 파라미터 변화나 외란이 존재하는 조건에서는 정확한 상태값을 추정할 수 없다. 슬라이딩 모드 관측기의 구조는 간단하지만, 파라미터 변화나 외란에서도 슬라이딩 모드 관측기는 강인한 추종능력을 보여주고 있다. 본 논문에서는 등가 입력조건을 이용한 슬라이딩 모드 관측기를 설계하는 방법이 제시되고, 제시된 관측기의 수렴조건에 대해 서술하였다. 수학적인 모델링과 실험결과로서 제안한 방법의 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • Photovoltaic(PV) array, which is generally installed outside, has the possibility to be damaged by high voltage due to lightning. Because the electrical characteristics of PV array have not been fully identified by lightning yet, there is a very important issue whether PV array should be connected with ground or not. In this paper, a basic model of PV array is provided considering the PV cell's barrier capacitance and ground capacitance for analysis of electrical characteristics by lightning using PSCAD/EMTDC.
