Photovoltaic and Thermal collector (PV/T) systems are renewable energy devices that can produce electricity and heat energy simultaneously using solar panels and heat exchangers. Since PV/T systems are exposed to the outdoors, their reliability is affected by various environmental factors. This paper presents a reliability test for a PV/T system and evaluates the test results. The reliability assessment entails performance, environment, safety, and life tests. The factor that had the greatest influence on the life of the system was the hydraulic pressure applied to the heat exchanger. A test was conducted by repeatedly applying pressure to the PV/T system, and a reliability analysis was conducted based on the test results. As a result, the shape parameter (β) value of 5.6658 and the B10life 308,577 cycles at the lower 95% confidence interval were obtained.

In this study, we present the modern hybrid system based power generation for electric vehicle applications. We describe the hybrid structure of modified current source based DC - DC converters used to extract the maximum power from Photovoltaic (PV) and Fuel Cell system. Due to reduced dc-link capacitor requirement and higher reliability, the current source inverters (CSI) better compared to the voltage source based inverter. The novel control strategy includes Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking (DMPPT) for photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell power generation system. The proposed DC - DC converters have been analyzed in both buck and boost mode of operation under duty cycle 0.5>d, 0.5<d<1 and 0.5<d for capable electric vehicle applications. The proposed topology benefits include one common DC-AC inverter that interposes the generated power to supply the charge for the sharing of load in a system of hybrid supply with photovoltaic panels and fuel cell PEM. An improved control of Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) based induction motor fed by current source converters for electric vehicle. In order to achieve better performance in terms of speed, power and miles per gallon for the expert, to accepting high regenerative braking current as well as persistent high dynamics driving performance is required. A simulation model for the hybrid power generation system based electric vehicle has been developed by using MATLAB/Simulink. The Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) is planned using Xilinx ISE software tool in addition to a Modelsim 6.3 software tool that is used for simulation purposes. The FPGA based pulse generation is used to control the induction motor for electric vehicle applications. FPGA has been implemented, in order to verify the minimal error between the simulation results of MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.
This study of PV modules in the external environment, learn about the mechanical strength characteristics, the module will investigate the aluminum frame. Positive support in the module by wind loads if uniformly distributed load acting on the front glass of the module size and elongation(${\omega}$), and accordingly, depending on the bend is sealed inside the solar cell, micro-cracks that will occur. At this point the most damage-prone parts in a module, this module is part of the center of a strong wind load is applied by the destruction of the environment does not occur in the module frame to secure the reliability and to evaluate changes in the structure.
The efficiency of solar cell was about 4[%] in initial stage of photovoltaic industry, but it has quite a lot of efficiency through technology advances. Today, the efficiency of c-Si solar cells is about 17 to 19[%] and the efficiency of PV modules is about 14 to 15 [%]. We called that electrical losses occurred in the Conversion of solar cells to PV modules are CTM loss(Cell To Module loss), the CTM loss typically has a value of about3~5[%]. The more efficiency of solar cell increase, differences are larger because the efficiency decrease owing to physical or technical problems occurred in the Conversion of solar cells to PV modules. In this study, the power loss factors occurred in the Conversion of solar cells to PV modules are analyzed and it is proposed that how to reduce losses of the PV module. The types of power loss factor are (1)losses of front glass and encapsulant(generally EVA sheet), (2)losses by sorting miss, (3)losses by interconnection, (4)losses by the field aging of PV modules. In further study, experimental and evaluation will be conducted to make demonstrate for proposed solutions.
As well known, the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is an important role in photovoltaic (PV) power systems. MPPT finds and maintains the operation of PV at the maximum power point when the irradiation and cell-temperature change. In this paper, the studied system includes a PV array, a Buck-Boost DC/DC converter, a DC/AC inverter and it is connected to the three phase power system. The solar array operates as a non-linear voltage source. The P&O algorithm with power feed-back is used to control the operating point of PV array at the maximum power point. The effects of irradiation and cell-temperature on the dynamic responses are also considered.

In the PV (Photovoltaic) power system, a junction box collects the DC voltage generated from the PV module and transfers it to the PCS (power conditioning system). The junction box prevents damage caused by the voltage difference between the serially connected PV modules and provides convenience while repairing or inspecting the PV array. In addition, the junction box uses the diode to protect modules from the inverse current when the PV power system and electric power system are connected for use. However, by using the reverse blocking diode, heat is generated within the junction box while generating electric power, which decreases the generating efficiency, and causes short circuit and electric leakage. In this research, based on the purpose of improving the performance of the PV module by decreasing the heat generation within the junction box, a junction box with a built-in bypass circuit was designed/manufactured so that a certain capacity of current generated from the PV module does not run through the reverse blocking diode. The manufactured junction box was used to compare the electric power and heating power generated when the circuit was in the bypass/non-bypass modes. It was confirmed that the electric power loss and heat generation indicated a decrease when the circuit was in the bypass mode.
Performance degradation of a battery in 20 kWh energy storage system (ESS) under various operating conditions was studied. And energy saving of the ESS was also monitored by connecting with 20 kW photovoltaic (PV). PV-connected ESS saved 5~7% of energy consumption in 2013 compared to that without such system in 2012. As charge-discharge cycle increased, capacity decreased and the performance degradation was glaringly obvious after 40 cycles. And as charge and discharge rate increased, the performance degradation was more serious. After 50 charge-discharge cycles, a lot of degraded product was deposited on the surface of anode and cathode electrodes, and the cathode side was more contaminated. Therefore, in order to maintain the cell performance, it was more important to protect the degradation of the cathode side.
A PVIB(Photovoltaic in Building) system is united by a constituent outer covering and can expect dual effects that reduce expenses for the establishment of a PV system. It is a profitable technology because it does not need a building as it is a stand alone PV system. This paper presents design, operational features analysis, and PCS(Power Conditioning System) of grid-connected 30kW PVIB set up on the library of Dongshin University. For a sustainable photovoltaic system in this area, the data of the PVIB system are collected and analyzed by monitoring system using LabView. PCS of the grid-connected PVIB system, also, is designed for optimal operation with characteristics suggested in this paper.
In this paper, we investigated the effect of solar cell breakage on maximum output power of PV module. The test result using artificial light source didn't give any change in output power in case of crack near electrical ribbon. Also, there was a reduction in output power in case of increasing of crack area far from electrical ribbon. But, this experiment is under artificial light source test method. So, when such a PV module is outdoor for a long time, there would be problems on electrical output power and durability because of thermal aging phenomenon of solar cell breakage.
Usage of heavy metal element (Pb, Hg and Cd etc.) in electronic devices have been restricted due to the environmental banning of the European Union, such as WEEE and RoHS. Therefore, it is needed to develop the Pb-free solder plated ribbon in photovoltaic (PV) module. This study described that degradation characteristics of PV module under damp heat (DH, $85^{\circ}C$ and 85% R.H.) condition test for 1,000 h. Solar cell ribbons were utilized to hot dipping plate with Pb-free solder alloys. Two types of Pb-free solder plated ribbons, Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu (SAC305) and Sn-48Bi-2Ag, and an electroless Sn-40Pb solder hot dipping plated ribbon as a reference sample were prepared to evaluate degradation characteristics. To detect the degradation of PV module with the eutectic and Pb-free solder plated ribbons, I-V curve, electro-luminescence (EL) and cross-sectional SEM analysis were carried out. DH test results show that the reason of maximum power (Pm) drop was mainly due to the decrease fill factor (FF). It was attributed to the crack or oxidation of interface between the cell and the ribbon. Among PV modules with the eutectic and Pb-free solder plated ribbon, the PV module with SAC305 ribbon relatively showed higher stability after DH test than the case of PV module with Sn-40Pb and Sn-48Bi-2Ag solder plated ribbons.
