  • To know the effect of tube voltage to X-ray film image, authors made an experimental study on the exponential value of applied voltage and the effect of scattered ray in photographic contrast, and obtained the results as follows: 1. The exponential value of tube voltage was under the control of the applied voltage, the kinds of screens and grids, and its existence. The range of its value was from 1.03 to 5.3. 2. The efficiency of X-ray production was directly proportional to the applied voltage, and to oftain the same density, the tube current(mAs) was inversely proportional to applied voltage 3. The production of scattered rays was in proportion to the tube voltage, and the photographic contrast was mainly influenced by the scattered rays.

  • The effects of the folwrate on the dropsize from the two-phase coaxial nozzle are investigated by using the direct photographic method and the empirical equation is obtained. For the photography, the light source which the life time is the order of 100ns is fabricated and the lens is the zoom lens which has the MICRO function with a teleconvertor. The distillated water and the compressed air of the surrounding temperature are injected and atomized. For the purpose of the exact adjustment and measurement of the flowrates, the two rotameters are used. As a result of this study, the sauter mean diameter of droplets has a tendency for a logarithmic function with air flowrate and for a exponential function with water flowrate.

  • Photoelectrodeposition of copper on semiconductive B-doped diamond films was investigated. There are cleasr morphology differences between photodeposited copper and electrodeposited copper. Photoelecrodeposition proceeded as uniform 2-dimensional growth. On the other hand electrodeposition proceeded as scarce random deposition. By applying this effect we have succeeded in forming a conductive pattern on semiconductive B-doped diamond with the aid of a photo-mask. And it was suggested that the surface reforming caused by photoelectrochemical process could be easily detected by the following metal (copper) deosition method, which is demonstrated as 'Diamond photographic phenomenon'.

  • In this paper, a new technique for color reproduction based on color variation characteristics of digital camera under a dim light condition is proposed. Generally, photographers should adjust a camera exposure properly for obtaining an image with real color tone of subjects. Thus, in case of taking a picture under a dim light condition, the exposure time of a camera has to be relatively longer than the one under a bright light condition. Although images with real color tone of the subject are obtained, the images may get blurred due to the shaky hands of photographer holding the camera. In order to avoid the blur effect, an input image is captured from a camera set as a short exposure time under a dim light condition. Then we propose a method to reproduce color tone of the dim input image. To this end, color variation characteristics which represent color variations of a digital camera are first extracted by analyzing the Macbeth color checker images taken under various exposure values. Then, a color reproduction is performed by an estimation based on the color variation characteristics. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method has achieved better performance of color reproduction, compared with existing methods.

  • The purpose of this study was (1) to identify the experimental bias which could appear person perception as results of development methods (2) to find out the most desirable method in developments of stimulus. The research was a quasi experiment and the subjects were 358 male and female undergraduate students by convenient sampling. The experimental instruments consisted of a set of stimulus and semantic differential scales of 7-point bi-polar adjectives. The collected data were analyzed by Principle Component Analysis, ANOVA(analysis of variance), Scheffe's multiple range test. The independent variables were developing methods of stimulus(live person, photography of real person, 2 kinds of black and white line drawing, 2 kinds of color drawing). The results were as follows. First, five factors which were potency, sociality, appearance, evaluation, activity impressional dimensions emerged to account for the methods of development of stimulus. Second, the methods of development of stimulus had significant effects on potency, sociality, appearance, activity factors. In sociality factors, the impression of photographic stimulus was the closest to the live person's impression. However in the appearance and activity impressions, significant difference existed between live person and other developing stimulus. In the potency impression, black and white line-drawing gave the highest impressional bias. In the sociability and appearance impressions, color-drawing stimulus gave the highest impressional bias. Result: On conclusion the developments of stimulus can effect on stimulus person's impressions and these effects can produce experimental biases, the photographic stimulus gave the least impressional bias. The study shows that photography of real person will produce minimize measurement error.

  • A close-up shot, capturing all the fine details of an actor's face by filling up the frame, expresses an actor's performance more realistically than a stage where a living actor performs on. This is because a close-up generates an impact with its specific images and meanings seizing the attention of the audience and conjures up a psychological effect as if an actor's face is directly communicating with the audience at a minimum distance. Therefore, this study analyzed the film to examine the photographic effect and acting effect of close-up shots and recommend the need for acting training thereof. The film was selected since Song Kang-ho, to add more realism to his character acted going back and forth 20 years of age with a special makeup on face, his facial expressions, gestures, props in close-up successfully helped deliver the actor's performance by revealing the character's personality and emotions of the film, and generated an array of linguistic, visual and emotional meanings which are the key to film acting. This study is expected to contribute to helping actors to learn about the effect of close-ups and the key to film acting and find effective ways to express themselves in front of the camera.

  • The effect of adding carbon dioxide to methane-air flame was investigated experimentally. Measurements included extinction limits, flame temperature and photographic investigation of flame. A diffusion flame was stabilized between counterflowing streams of methane diluted with carbon dioxide and air diluted with carbon dioxide. Extinction limits and temperature for such flames were measured over a wide parametric range and were compared with those for other flames that fuel or oxidant was diluted with nitrogen or argon. The experimental results indicate that extinction phenomena can be explained by thermal effect and as an amount of carbon dioxide in fuel or oxidant increases, greatly as compared with other flames flame-temperature falls and flame-thickness is reduced.

  • The influence of flow rate has been investigated on the treatment efficiency of continuous cycling electrolytic process employing artificial and actual photographic wastewater which containing silver ion. For artificial wastewater, the treatment efficiency of process was found to rise ca. three times when the flow rate of wastewater was increased from 3 mL/min to 15 mL/min. The process efficiency was doubled under the same condition regarding actual wastewater. The effect of flow rate on the treatment efficiency was observed to be altered according to the metal ionic form and solution composition. The coefficient of mass transfer was estimated using model equation, which verified that the raised treatment efficiency at higher flow rate was due to the increased mobility of ionic species.

  • We investigated an anti-aliasing (AA) filter for digital camera photography by which the excessively high-frequency components of the image signal are suppressed to avoid the aliasing effect. Our optomechanical AA filter was implemented by applying rapid relative motions to the imaging sensor. By the engineered motion blur of the mechanical dithers, the effective point-spread function (PSF) of the imaging system could be tailored to reject the unwanted high-frequency components of the image. For optimal operations, we developed a spiral filter motion protocol that could produce a Gaussian-like PSF. We experimentally demonstrated that our AA filter provides an improved filtering characteristic with a better compromise of the rejection performance and the signal loss. We also found that the pass band characteristic can be enhanced further by a color-differential acquisition mode. Our filter scheme provides a useful method of digital photography for low-error image measurements as well as for ordinary photographic applications where annoying $moir{\acute{e}}$ patterns must be suppressed efficiently.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the causes and the effects of korean medicine treatment on alopecia. Methods : 1050 patients with alopecia, who had visited oriental medical clinics from July 2011 to October 2012, were analyzed by self-assessments. And 153 patients of them were treated with korean medicine treatment for 3 months. Treatment results were evaluated by patients' self-assessments and global & enlarged photographic reviews. Results : 1. The gender ratio of male to female was 2:1 and most patients belonged to the 20~30 year old group. 2. Family history of baldness in alopecia patients was a total of 57.3%, paternal 44.4% and maternal 21.2%. 3. Subjective symptoms of fever in parietal region was a total of 97.4% in alopecia patients. 4. After 1 month treatment, the fever in the parietal region was decreased by 37.3% of patients. And their subjective hair loss was also significantly decreased. 5. After 3 months of treatment, the global photographic review was improved by 56.2% of the patients and the enlarged photographic review was significantly improved by 5.2% in patients' total hair count. Conclusions : A significant number of alopecia patients were young and less relative in genetic alopecia causes was less relevant than the past. Recent causes of alopecia were more concerned with the fever in parietal region. According to that reason, cooling effect korean medicine treatment was expected to be effective for febrile alopecia, and actually had significant effects on this study. For future studies, it's long term treatment and follow up studies are needed.
