I배열형 광다이오드인 EG&G Reticon을 사용하여 측정시간이 약 10[ms]인 광측정용 초고속 분광광도계를 제작하였다. 핵심 부품인 배열형 광다이오드의 물리적 특성인 화소의 균일성, 선형성, 분광감응도를 측정하였다. 화소의 균일성과 선형성은 각각 0.5[%] 이내에서 일치하였으며, 분광감응도는 400[nm]에서 900[nm]까지 표준검출기를 사용하여 구하였다. 제작된 분광광도계는 2[nm]의 대역폭으로 측정이 가능하며 측정불확도는 2[%] 정도였다. 성능평가를 위해 미표준국의 표준기준물인 2009 didymium 필터와 수은 선광원을 측정한 결과 양호한 값을 얻었다.

Planar PIN photodiode is compatible with LTPS process, and its fabrication requires no additional manufacturing process. In this study we design the optimum dimension of PIN diodes with two nitride layers to improve the efficiency of PIN diodes. The PIN photo sensor shows very good sensitivity to ambient light illuminance.

An artificial retina using thin-film photodiodes (TFPDs) and thin-film transistors (TFTs) is proposed. The characteristics of a TFPD and TFTs are measured, and the circuits of the retina pixel and retina array are designed. It is confirmed that the artificial retina can achieve edge enhancement and control photo-sensitivity.

It has been reported that the formation of conductive carbon path is mainly affected by scintillation. In this paper, mechanisms of tracking deterioration are reviewed by counting light pulse with IR photodiode. The influence of applied voltage and molecular composition of materials in the tracking breakdown is also reviewed by the Number of Pulse curve.

It is shown that a simple vector analysis method can provide beam cone shapes for laser bemas non-paraxially input to dielectric boundaries with inclination. Acceptance coen shapes for angled-endface fibers are calculated by the method. Beam cone shapes inside InP substrates are also calculated by the method for the coupling of an optical fiber and an InP-based photodiode using a Si v-groove. The effectiveness and errors of the recently suggested matrix method for inclined boundaries are also studied.

Optical wireless mobile communications have the potential to provide wide bandwidth and security . We have proposed and designed the 2-dimensional tracking optical receiver systems for optical wireless mobile communication. The receiver system consist of 4${\times}$4 photodiode array can receive optical signal from the transmitter. The room size is 5${\times}$5m$^2$ and the room height is 3m.

Laser Doppler velocimeters: (LDV)$^{1)}$ 의 대부분의 기본원리는 호모다인(honodyne)방법을 사용한다. 호모다인 방법 중에서 많이 사용되는 방법으로는 마이켈슨 간섭계식과 되먹임식(self-mixing type)$^{2)}$ 이 있다. 마이켈슨 간섭계식은 구성하는데는 많은 광학부품과 정밀한 정렬 장치들을 필요로 한다. 반면에 되먹임식은 레이저 공진기의 고유 주파수와 도플러 이동된 산란광을 공진기 속에서 자체 혼합하여 발생한 차주파수를 레이저 공진기 내부에 있는 pin-photodiode로 측정하므로 마이켈슨 간섭계에 비하여 간단한 장치로 속도계를 구성할 수 있다. 상하로 양극 영역이 중첩된 새로운 Si 포토다이오드를 제작하고 이의 전기광학적 특성을 조사하였다. 제작된 소자의 역포화전류와 이상계수는 각각 68pA와 1.8로 나타났으며 -3V 바이어스에서 측정된 접합 커패시턴스는 8.3 pF로 나타났다. 또한 $100mW/cm^2$, AMI 스펙트럼 조건에서 -3V 바이어스 아래 측정된 광전류와 감도특성은 각각 $60\;{\mu}A$와 6 A/W로 나타났다.
