The stability and efficiency of structural control systems depend on the accuracy of mathematical model of the system to be controlled. In this study, state equation models of a small scale test structure and an AMD(active mass damper) are obtained separately using OKID(observer/Kalman filter identification) which is a time domain system identification method. The test structure with each floor acceleration as outputs is identified for two inputs - the ground acceleration and the acceleration of the moving mass of AMD relative to the installation floor - individually and the two identified state equation models are integrated into one by model reduction method. The AMD is identified with the motor control signal as an input and the relative acceleration of the moving mass as an output, and it is shown that the identified model has large damping ratio and phase shift. The transfer functions and the time histories reconstructed from the identified models of the test model and the AMD match well with those measured from the experiment.
Background: NF-$\kappa$B is a characteristic transcriptional factor whose functional activity is determined by post-translational modification of protein and subsequent change of subcellular localization. The involvement of the NF-$\kappa$B family of the transcription factors in the control of such vital cellular functions as immune response, acute phase reaction, replication of certain viruses and development and differentiation of cells has been clearly documented in many previous studies. Several recent observations have suggested that the NF-$\kappa$B might also be involved in the carcinogenesis of some hematological and solid tumors. Investigating the possibility that members of the NF-$\kappa$B family participate in the molecular control of malignant cell transformation could provide invaluable information on both molecular pathogenesis and cancer-related gene therapy. Method: To determine the expression patterns and functional roles of NF-$\kappa$B family transcription factors in human lung cancer cell lines NCI-H792, NCI-H709, NCI-H226 and NCI-H157 were analysed by western blot, using their respective antibodies. The nuclear and the cytoplasmic fraction of protein extract of these cell lines were subsequently obtained and NF-$\kappa$B expression in each fraction was again determined by western blot analysis. The type of NF-$\kappa$B complex present in the cells was determined by immunoprecipitation. To detect the binding ability of cell-line nuclear extracts to the KB consensus oligonucleotide, electrophoretic mobility shift assay(EMSA) was performed. Results: In the cultured human lung cancer cell lines tested, transcription factors of the NF-$\kappa$B family, namely the p50 and p65 subunit were expressed and localized in the nuclear fraction of the cellular extract by western blot analysis and immunocytochemistry. Immunoprecipitation assay showed that in the cell, the p50 and p65 subunits made NF-$\kappa$B complex. Finally it was shown by Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay(EMSA) that nuclear extracts of lung cancer cell lines are able to bind to NF-$\kappa$B consensus DNA sequences. Conclusion: These data suggest that in human lung cancer cell lines the NF-$\kappa$B p50/p65 complex might be activated. and strengthen the hypothesis that NF-$\kappa$B family transcription factors might be involved in the carcinogenesis of human lung cancer.
To investigate the effect of postmortem phases on lamb meat quality, the physicochemical quality, microstructure and water mobility of oyster cut, short loin, knuckle and silverside muscles from Small-Tail Han sheep were evaluated in the pre-rigor, rigor mortis and post-rigor phases. Pre-rigor lamb meat had higher pH and water holding capacity (WHC), whereas lower CIE L*, b*, hue angle values than rigor mortis and post-rigor meat (p<0.05). The Warner-Bratzler shear force (WBSF) values were higher in rigor mortis short loin and silverside than their pre-rigor and post-rigor counterparts, pre-rigor short loin had lower WBSF value than its post-rigor counterpart (p<0.05). Muscle fibers shrank laterally and longitudinally during the onset of rigor mortis. Rigor mortis and postrigor lamb meat exhibited wide I-bands, dark A-bands, short sarcomeres and large inter-myofibrillar spaces. The shift of immobilized water to free water and repulsion from the intra-myofibrillar space to the extracellular space result in the increase of water loss in rigor mortis and post-rigor lamb meat. The results of the principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that rigor mortis and post-rigor lamb meat had similar quality properties but different from pre-rigor lamb meat. In conclusion, the lamb meat in the pre-rigor phase had good tenderness, color and WHC. The results of this research could provide some theoretical references for lamb meat production and processing.

This study develops a passive traffic signal priority control algorithm for emergency vehicles. The passive priority control estimates and applies signal times for each signalized intersection on the emergency vehicle's route when an emergency call is received. As signals are controlled before the emergency vehicle leaves for its destination, it is possible to clear the queues at each intersection more effectively. Most of the previous studies applied preemption, which ends green time of cross streets when the emergency vehicle arrives at each intersection. This study applies green extension and early green in order not to shift the order of phases, and guarantees minimum green time for each phase. Simulation results show that the delay of emergency vehicles decreases when the signals are controlled. It is expected that delays can be decreased further by integrating the active priority control with the passive priority control algorithm presented in this study.

This study attempted to establish an optimal multi-compound simultaneous analysis method that can secure reliable results for 15 - preservatives, 2 - sun screens and 1 - antioxidants of cosmetics using HPLC-PDA. Since the potential of hydrogen (pH) in the mobile phase affects the acid dissociation constant (pKa) of the preservatives, and the peak retention time shift and area change were observed. The peak separation condition was established by adjusting the pH to 0.1% H3PO4 addition (mL) when preparing the mobile phase. As a results of method validation, the linearity correlation coefficient (R2) of above 0.999 were obtained, and accuracy 87.9 ~ 101.1%, 0.1 ~ 7.6% precision for two types of cosmetics (cream and shampoo). It was found that the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.1 ~ 0.2 mg/kg and the limit of quantitation (LOQ) was 2.0 ~ 4.0 mg/kg. In addition, it was possible to simultaneously separate p-anisic acid, a natural compound that was difficult to separate in HPLC due to the small difference from methylparaben, a synthetic preservatives. Through this study, it will be effectively used to secure quality control and safety for compound that need restrictions on use cosmetics.
In this paper, one of the core components of a mobile communication system, VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) IC is designed. The VCO IC was designed, have realized as LC turned oscillator using varicap. LC sinusoidal tuned oscillator generally requires external inductors and thus remainding circuit is implemneted in monolithic IC. The circuit is fabricated using an 15 mask IC process and has a die size of 1150um${\times}$780um. The tests showed that VCO was operated at frequencies in the regions between 880MHz-915MHz in the control voltage range of 1V to 3V at 5V supply voltage and as the power supply was varied from 4.5V to 5.5V, the frequency varied 425KHz/V. The VCO IC has frequency shift of 1.97MHz/T, carrier level of -7dBm and power consumption of 16.7mA. Also it has phase noise of -80dBc/Hz, offset at 50KHz and harmonic response of center frequency is -41dBm. For the future development of the transceiver 1 chip, the previously mentioned external devices need to be incorporated into Si MMIC.

The elastoplastic response of functionally graded material (FGM) beams resting on a nonlinear elastic foundation to an eccentric axial load is investigated by using the finite element method. The FGM is assumed to be formed from ceramic and metal phases with their volume fraction vary in the thickness direction by a power-law function. A bilinear elastoplastic behavior is assumed for the metallic phase, and the effective elastoplastic properties of the FGM are evaluated by Tamura-Tomota-Ozawa (TTO) model. Based on the classical beam theory, a nonlinear finite beam element taking the shift in the neutral axis position into account is formulated and employed in the investigation. An incremental-iterative procedure in combination with the arc-length control method is employed in computing the equilibrium paths of the beams. The validation of the formulated element is confirmed by comparing the equilibrium paths obtained by using the present element and the one available in the literature. The numerical results show that the elastoplastic post-buckling of the FGM beams is unstable, and the post-buckling strength is higher for the beams associated with a higher ceramic content. Different from homogeneous beams, yielding in the FGM beam occurs in the layer near the ceramic layer before in the layer near metal surface. A parametric study is carried out to highlight the effect of the material distribution, foundation support and eccentric ratio on the elastoplastic response of the beams.
In this paper, we have been implemented the QPSK-based underwater transmission systems using DSP in order to transmit the underwater image data. We have adopted a BDPA (Block Data Parallel Architecture) to control multiple DSPs used in the transmitter and receiver in order to transmit the image data in real-time. We also have developed GUI software in order to drive and to debug the implemanted system in real-time. We have executed open sea tests in order to analyze the performance of the implemented system at East Sea near Kosung in Kangwon-Do. As a result of these experiments, it has been demonstrated that 10 kbps image data can be received without errors at 30m and 80m depth points, while the distance between the transmitter and the receiver is up to 20m.

A sub-${\mu}$W CMOS Wien-Bridge oscillator for ultra low power (ULP) radio applications is presented. The Wien-Bridge oscillator is based on an non-inverting opamp amplifier with a closed-loop gain $1+R_2/R_1$ as a means of providing necessary loop gain. An additional RC network provides appropriate phase shift for satisfying the Barkhausen oscillation condition at the given frequency of 1/($2{\pi}RC$). In this design, we propose a novel loop gain control method based on a variable capacitor network instead of a rather conventional variable resistor network. Implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS, the oscillator consumes only 560 nA at the oscillation frequency of 22 kHz.

Due to the rapid increase in demand for transportation of human and freight in modern railway systems, the CBTC system has been proposed, which is the solution for improvement of the line capacity that has been limited by the conventional track circuit based train control system. In the CBTC system, higher reliability of the communication system should be guaranteed for the safety of passengers and trains. However, due to the inherent characteristics of the wireless channel environment, performance degradations are inevitable. The diversity techniques can increase the reliability of data transmission using multiple antennas. In this paper, we investigate the performance of the STBC in the railway channel environment. Rician fading model is used for the viaduct scenarios which take important roles in the railway system. Also, considered is the Doppler effect which is an important factor in the mobile communication system. Simulations are performed to analyze the performance of the STBC in various channel environments. Results show that the performance degradation due to the phase error in viaduct scenarios is independent of the diversity order but is affected by the constellation of the modulation.
