  • This paper summarizes the results of a Writing Group on the Extension of CFD codes to two-phase flow safety problems, which was created by the Group for Analysis and Management of Accidents of the Nuclear Energy Agency' Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (NEA-CSNI). Two-phase CFD used for safety investigations may predict small scale flow processes, which are not seen by system thermalhydraulic codes. However, the two-phase CFD models are not as mature as those in the single phase CFD and potential users need some guidance for proper application. In this paper, a classification of various modelling approaches is proposed. Then, a general multi-step methodology for using two-phase-CFD is explained, including a preliminary identification of flow processes, a model selection, and a verification and validation process. A list of 26 nuclear reactor safety issues that could benefit from investigations at the CFD scale is identified. Then, a few issues are analyzed in more detail, and a preliminary state-of-the-art is proposed and the remaining gaps in the existing approaches are identified. Finally, guidelines for users are proposed.

  • The phase-locked loop(PLL) is a communication receiver which operates as a coherent detector by continuously correcting the phase error. In this paper analysis for the Phase-error behavior of analog phase-locked loop (APLL) in the presence of additive white gaussian noise has been done theoretically and experimentally. A close form solution of the first-order loop is obtained and approximate solutions are derived for the second-order loops with RC, leadlag and perfect integrator filters. The perdormance of APLL's and their characteristics are also thoroughly investigated through experiments. In order to analyze the effect of the stochastic nature on nonlinear dynamics characteristics of the second order APLL, the phase error distribution and its variance have been obtained by using the Fokker-Planck equation. Theoretical results agree closely with those of experiment.

  • In response to the current situation where general methods cannot effectively compensate for the phase delay of ordinary optical mixers, a multi-layer spatial beam-splitting optical mixer is designed using total reflection triangular prisms and polarization beam splittings. The phase delay is generated by the wave plate, and the mixer can use the existing parallel plates in the structure to individually compensate for the phase of the four output beams. A mixer model is established based on the structure, and the influence of the position and orientation of the optical components on the phase delay is analyzed. The feasibility of the phase compensation method is simulated and analyzed. The results show that the mixer can effectively compensate for the four outputs of the optical mixer over a wide range. The mixer has a compact structure, good performance, and significant advantages in phase error control, production, and tuning, making it suitable for free-space coherent optical communication systems.

  • We propose a novel fade-free optical fiber interferometric vibration sensor using a simple setup with a 90° optical hybrid. The interferometer consists of all-optical components without the phase modulators and complex demodulation processes that were previously used to compensate for signal fading induced by phase bias change. Fade-free output was successfully obtained by in-phase and quadrature detection with a π/2 phase shifting scheme. Theoretical analysis and measurement results showed that the proposed interferometric vibration sensor operates independently of the phase bias state of interfering waves.

  • An analysis of the skeleton type BLDC motor is presented. The single phase skeleton type BLDC motor consists of the stator, rotor with the permanent magnet, and drive circuit with hall sensors that detect the rotor position. The major factors for the initial starting, efficiency, and torque ripples of the skeleton type BLDC motor are the detent groove of the stator and the lead angle of the phase voltage. The performance characteristics according to the angle and height of the detent groove is analyzed. The optimum lead angles of the phase voltage with the torque ripple and motor efficiency is described using the finite element method.

  • It has been known that 1/f noise of MOSFET is generated by superposition of random telelgraph signals (RTS). In this study, jitters and phase noise caused by 1/f noise of MOSFET are analysed with RTS supplied to all of the nodes of the CMOS ring oscillator under investigation. Through the analysis of jitters and jitter ratios with varying values of the amplitude of RTS, it is found that the jitters and the jitter ratios are proportional to the amplitude of RTS. And the analysis of FFT of the output of the ring oscillator reveals that the jitters are closely related to the phase noise of the high order harmonics of the ring oscillator outputs.

  • This paper deals with an analysis of SCR thyristor switching pattern for a power quality disturbance generator with phase jump function. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance test of custom power devices. Voltage sag, swell, outage, unbalance and phase jump after outage are provided by the generator. The phase jump operating principle of the generator is described and analysed. Especially, a proper switching of the SCR thyristors for the proposed generator is important to guarantee the system reliability. Therefore the switching patterns for the thyristors in each made were analysed.

  • Injection molding process factors such as molding temperature, injection pressure, flow rate and flow velocity, must be controlled properly in filling and packing phases in the injection molding process. In this study, effects of these factors on the injection molding were investigated through the flow analysis for the filling and packing phases. Molding troubles like flow mark weld line, sink ma가 short shot and warpage car be caused by these injection molding process factors. Among them the short shot was caused by the fact that the packing pressure could not reach properly to the filling end part in the packing phase and hence the flow rate could not be supplied to the full. In addition as the flow rate for the volumetric shrinkage during the f개zen phase could not be supplied Properly by the packing pressure, the short shot appeared. Here, the volumetric shrinkage reduced with increasing the packing pressure and also the warpage of molded part increased with increasing the packing Pressure.

  • The single phase switched reluctance motor(SRM) is simpler in control circuit because the number of switching devices is fewer than the poly phase SRM. The energy density per unit volume is very big because all stator poles are excited simultaneously by a single switching power source. But it must be provided a starting device on account of not being generated the starting torque at specific rotor positions. And also it has some demerits that have a torque ripple, noise and vibration because of being excited by switching pulse power source. Therefore, to make up for these demerits, it is realized many studies for the structure design used by computer and the operating methods by power electronics technique. In this paper, we'll present the comparison of the single phase SRM with the various rotor pole face types, as like stepped rotor pole face type and general rotor pole face type. For the torque characteristics analysis.

  • Test of the optimum condition of solid phase micro extraction(SPME) was performed by use of 5 vol-atile components in dilute aqueous solution. Volatile components of Sancho(Zanthoxylum schinifolium) were isolated by SPME method and were analyzed by GC/MSD and compared with volatile compone-nts isolated by simultaneous distillation extraction (SDE) method. Total 31 components were identified by comparing gas chromatography retention time and mass spectral data. The major compounds were limonene geranyl acetate $\beta$-phellandrene phellandral mycene linalool rose oxide caproic acid and caprylic acid SPME sampling procedure was found to be a good method for qualitative analysis of the volatile components.
