  • For a Stationary moving-target. the design technique of guidance system for underwater vehicle with a seeker of st type is developed. Using perturbation theory, a new method which linearizes the nonlinear intercept geometry is proposed. On the basis of the linearized system modeling, LQ and PID design technique is used to determine the structure and gain of the guidance system. Some simulation results applied underwater engagement are represented to show that the proposed guidance law is superior to the other guidance laws as pursuit, Bang-Beng, PN APN.

  • The guarantee of the fast dynamics stability is essential for successful application of singular Perturbation technique to control systems design. Even though the fast dynamics of the control systems is rendered stable by an analog controller, the fast dynamics stability of the control systems resulted from an digital implementation of the analog controller can be impaired severely. In this paper, we first investigate the time sampling effects on singular perturbation based control systems by centering on a design example of recently developed singular perturbation based STT missile autopilot with high performance. The investigation shows that the stability margin the fast dynamics of the STT misile autopilot system decreases rapidly as the sampling interval of discretizing the analog autopilot increases. Under this analysis, we propose a composite digital controller with compensation for the decreasing stability margin of the fast dynamics due to time sampling to achieve better performance with respect to sampling time. The improved performance of the proposed composite digital controller is verified by simulation. This result shows that one needs to investigate time sampling effects in the digital implementation of singular perturbation based controllder, and then can have benefit from the investigation.

  • This paper presents the variable perturbation and observation(VPO) maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control of the photovoltaic(PV) system considering the shadow influence. The output characteristics of the solar cell is a nonlinear and affected by a temperature, the solar radiation and influence of a shadow. MPPT control is a very important technique in order to increase an output and efficiency of the solar power generation. Conventional perturbation and observation(PO) and incremental conductance(IC) are the method finding MPP by the continued self-excitation vibration. The MPPT control is unable to be performed by rapid output change affected by the shadow. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the VPO MPPT algorithm which changes step size according to output variation. The response characteristics of VPO MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper compares with response characteristics of conventional MPPT algorithm about the radiation, temperature and shadow influence. The validity of the algorithm proposed in this paper prove through the results of the comparisons.

  • The scattering problem of the randomly rough surface is examined by the method of moments(MoM), small perturbation method (SPM), integral equation method (IEM) and the semi-empirical polarimetic model. To apply the numerical technique of the MoM to microwave scattering from a rough surface, at first, many independent randomly rough surfaces with a rms height and a correlation length are generated with Gaussian random deviate. Then, an efficient Monte Carlo simulation technique is applied to estimate the scattering coefficients of the surfaces.

  • The stability of system is one of the important aspects and to judge system's stability is another complicated problem. Previously, new technique derived from relaxing Lyapunov conditions has been already introduced and in this paper, this proposed technique applies to the practical dynamic systems. This utility of numerical procedures prove the comparable improvements of the estimation of robustness for dynamic systems having structured (bounded) perturbations.

  • A cavity perturbation technique is employed to determine the dielectric property of thin samples. Substrates in microwave integrated circuits are fabricated in sheet form and are expected to have a dielectric constant less than 10 and a dielectric loss better than 10**-3. This research aimed to determine both dielectric constant and dielectric loss with good accuracy. The tecynique makes use of thin circular disk samples placed in a right circular cylindrical cavity. The accuracy of measurements is within \ulcorner% for dielectric constnat and 3x10**-4 for dielectric loss.

  • Frozen orbit is an attractive option for orbital design owing to its characteristics (its argument of pericenter and eccentricity are kept constant on an average). Solar sails are attractive solutions for massive and expensive missions. However, the solar radiation pressure effect represents an additional force on the solar sail that may greatly affect its orbital behavior in the long run. Thus, this force must be included as a perturbation force in the dynamical model for more accuracy. This study shows the calculations of initial conditions for a lunar solar sail frozen orbit. The disturbing function of the problem was developed to include the lunar gravitational field that is characterized by uneven mass distribution, third body perturbation, and the effect of solar radiation. An averaging technique was used to reduce the dynamical problem to a long period system. Lagrange planetary equations were utilized to formulate the rate of change of the argument of pericenter and eccentricity. Using the reduced system, frozen orbits for the Moon sail orbiter were constructed. The resulting frozen orbits are shown by two 3Dsurface (semi-major, eccentricity, inclination) figures. To simplify the analysis, we showed inclination-eccentricity contours for different values of semi-major axis, argument of pericenter, and values of sail lightness number.

  • This paper presents a new control strategy for the position and force control of flexible manipulators. The governing equation of motion of a two-link flexible manipulator which features piezoceramic actuators bonded on each flexible beam is derived via Hamilton's principle. The control torque of the motor to command desired position and force is determined by a sliding mode controller on the basis of the rigid-mode dynamics. In the controller formulation, the sliding mode controller with perturbation estimation(SMCPE) is adopted to determine appropriate control gains. The SMCPE is then incorporated with the fuzzy technique to mitigate inherent chattering problem while maintaining the stability of the system. A set of fuzzy parameters and control rules are obtained from a relation between estimated perturbation and actual perturbation. During the commanded motion, undesirable oscillation is actively suppressed by applying feedback control voltages to the piezoceramic actuators. These feedback voltages are also determined by the SMCPE. Consequently, accurate force and position control of a two-link flexible manipulator are achieved. Computer simulations are undertaken in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control methodology.

  • This paper presents an intelligent model; named as free model, approach for a closed-loop system identification using input and output data and its application to design a power system stabilizer (PSS). The free model concept is introduced as an alternative intelligent system technique to design a controller for such dynamic system, which is complex, difficult to know, or unknown, with input and output data only, and it does not require the detail knowledge of mathematical model for the system. In the free model, the data used has incremental forms using backward difference operators. The parameters of the free model can be obtained by simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA) method. A linear transformation is introduced to convert the free model into a linear model so that a conventional linear controller design method can be applied. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated in a one-machine infinite bus power system. The linear quadratic regulator (LQR) method is applied to the free model to design a PSS for the system, and compared with the conventional PSS. The proposed SPSA-based LQR controller is robust in different loading conditions and system failures such as the outage of a major transmission line or a three phase to ground fault which causes the change of the system structure.
