The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; Theoretical consideration and empirical study indicate statistically significant relationship(F=7.68, p=0.000). Especially, Financial perspective appeared to mediate the relationship between non-financial perspectives and general performance. It concludes that Non-financial perspectives significant affect the financial perspective and general performance. But, there are several limitations and directions for future research that should be noted. The potential limitation of this study concerns sampling and for selection process. Future research needs to reduce potential bias by collecting data which allows multiple industries for a subset of the sample.

Research design, data, and methodology: Using a sample of 300 different types of UAE real estate consumers and twenty real estate firms, the researchers collected the opinions of targeted subjects by administering two types of questionnaires. The Cronbach's Alpha and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) tests were employed to check the internal consistency and validity of the questionnaires. The selected hypotheses were tested using the Kruskal-Wallis (K-W) hypothesis testing technique. Results: The findings revealed that all types of UAE real estate consumers expressed their discontentment over the implementation of socially responsible actions by the real estate companies. Whereas UAE real estate companies expressed their confidence in the ideal implementation of social actions towards all stakeholders in general and tenants. Conclusion: Even though more than 50 percent of realty customers are dissatisfied with the company's implementation of CSR, a little over 54.80 percent are willing to recommend the company to their family and friends. Implications have been provided for UAE real estate companies who wish to promote their business to all categories of UAE real estate consumers successfully.

  • Purpose - This study explores the impact of the real estate industry on related industries for the perspective of Chinese steel companies. Design/methodology/approach - The impact of housing prices on the 41 listed steel companies' performance was analyzed by using the panel data model. We used two kinds of housing price indexes that are set in the panel data models to estimate the range of the real estate market, driving the performance growth of steel listed companies. Moreover, the net profit of steel companies is used as the dependent variable. To test the stability of the model, ROA used as a dependent variable for the robustness test. Also, to avoid the time trend of housing prices, this paper selects the growth rate of housing prices as the primary research variable. After Fisher-type testings, there is no unit root problem in both independent and dependent variables. Findings - The results indicated that the rise in the housing price has a positive influence on the steel company performance. When the housing price increases by 1%, the net profit of steel enterprises will increase by 5 to 20 million yuan. Research implications or Originality - In this paper, empirical data at the micro-level and panel model are used to quantify China's real estate industry's driving effect on the iron and steel industry, providing evidence from the microdata level. It helps us to understand further the status and role of China's real estate industry in the economic structure.

  • In many advanced countries, most outside directors are executives, active or retired, at other firms; in other words, executives from other companies make executive compensation decisions. This situation may hinder the board of directors (BOD) in their efforts to optimize executive compensation levels objectively. Using a panel data analysis of the S&P 1500 companies, we provide supplemental evidence of whether, and to what extent, the concurrent executive employment of outside directors distorts the executive pay decisions at a given company. An unbiased fixed-effect estimation confirms that a $1.00 increase in CEO pay at outside directors' primary companies results in an approximate increase of $0.22 in CEO pay at the given company. From a policy perspective, this added agency problem - caused by the BOD and not by management - is noted as difficult to control; although a firm may establish board independence, the inherent concurrent employment of directors on a board continues to exist.
