Investigating Factors that Affect Job Satisfaction and Performance in the Public Sector

  • Purpose: The public sectors including government and public organizations have put an efforts to improve the quality of people's lives by providing enhanced services. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that affect job attitude, job satisfaction, and job performance in the public sector, that are rarely examined by previous studies. Research Design, data, and methodology: The following research questions have been proposed: i) how do payroll system, personnel management system, cooperative working environment, and self-efficacy affect job attitude?; and ii) how does job attitude affect job satisfaction and performance? This paper used a survey through an online platform and collected data randomly from five classified public institutions. This study applied regression analysis and ANOVA. Results: This study found that cooperative working environment and self-efficacy had significant impacts on job attitude, while payroll system and personnel management system did not affect job attitude. Overall job attitude affected both job satisfaction and performance. Conclusions: The results provide policy implications to the public sector which factors should be considered to improve job attitude, job satisfaction, and job performance. The results also provide managerial implications how such efforts ultimately improve service quality to the citizens.

스마트워크 환경하의 업무성과에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influencing Factors of Smart-Work Performance)

  • This study derived research model about the influencing factors of the successful performance of smart work. Research model is composed of four perspectives: technology perspective like system quality and usage level of information technology, interaction perspective like innovational climate, institutional perspective like personnel evaluation, and individual perspective like self-control. This study collected 155 survey data from K public company and M global software company. As a result of data analysis, all of four perspectives influenced smart work performance. Technology perspective had the strongest effect on smart work performance, the second was institution perspective, the third was interaction perspective, and the last was individual perspective. In conclusion, smart work is not an IT project. We have to reconsider the thinking that just only the introduction of cutting-edge IT increases business performance. Smart work project should be pursued in harmony with institution and climate in the organizational perspective and self-control in the personal perspective. Also, to maximize business performance in smart work environment, organizations should strengthen the positive factors and overcome the negative factors.

AHP기법과 목표계획법을 이용한 신병 군사특기 분류 모형 (A MOS Assignment Model to Enlisted Recruits Using AHP and Goal Programming)

  • To assign the soldiers in the adequate positions I military is almost as important as managing officers because they compose the main part of military structure and equipment operators. The current Military Occupational Specialty(MOS) assignment system lacks the capability to optimize the use of recruit's potential. We suggest an MOS assignment method for enlisted recruits using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method, this method systematically provides a method of calculation of composite relative weights of decision elements to be considered during MOS assignment and a method of quantification for personal quality of new recruits. The quantified value of personal quality, Mission Performance Capability(MPC), in this study means the mission performance capability when a personnel is assigned to a certain MOS. This paper develops a multiple objectives MOS assignment model for enlisted recruits. It uses MPC of personnels, calculated with AHP method and consensus method, as parameters. The goal constraints are assurance of filling requirement, minimization of the number of unassigned personnel to MOS, capability satisfaction of education facility and support facility, assurance of desired MPC value level for MOS assignment, and maximization of total MPC. The objective function is to terminalization of the negative or positive deviation for the above goal constraints.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Related Practices of Female Doctors and Nurses Working at a University Hospital in Turkey

  • Background: Breast and cervical cancers are among the most frequent and most fatal cancers in women. Life span of patients may be increased and quality of life improved through early diagnosis and treatment. This investigation was performed in order to determine knowledge and practices of female health personnel working at a university hospital regarding breast and cervical cancers. Materials and Methods: This descriptive investigation was performed in Erciyes University Hospitals in 2014. A total of 524 female health personnel were included in the study. Data were collected through a questionnaire of 36 questions prepared by the researchers. The Chi square test and logistic regression were used for statistical analyses. Results: The mean age of the study group was $32.8{\pm}6.9$ years, 18.3% being doctors and 81.7% nurses. Of the study group, 60.5% stated that they performed self breast-examination, 4.4% underwent HPV testing, 26.3% thought about taking an HPV test, 34.7% of those who are 40 years and over had mammography regularly and 19.5% of those who were married had a Pap smear conducted regularly. Most important causes of not performing the methods for early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancers are "forget and neglect". Conclusions: It was concluded that female doctors and nurses do not pay sufficient attention to screening programs for breast and cervical cancers. The importance of early diagnosis and treatment should be emphasized during the undergraduate education and in-service training programs. Health condition of personnel and their utilization of preventive health care should be followed by occupational physicians.

일반경비원 교육이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 - 시설경비원 신임 교육을 중심으로 - (The Effect of Education Program for Security Personnel on Job Satisfaction)

  • 현재 일반경비산업은 인적자원에 대한 의존도가 높고, 고객과의 접촉 빈도가 높은 직업이어서 무엇보다도 종사자의 직무수행능력을 통한 만족도가 경영성과에 큰 영향을 미친다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 국내 일반경비산업에서 이와 같이 전문교육을 받은 고급인력이 중요시 되고 있음에도 불구하고 일반경비원의 교육과 직무만족에 대한 연구는 사실상 미비한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구는 현직에 있는 시설경비원을 대상으로 신임 교육이 직무만족에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 탐색적 연구를 실시하였다. 일반경비원 신임 교육이 직무만족에 미치는 영향을 보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사회인구학적 특성에 따른 개인적 특성, 교육훈련특성, 업무환경, 직무만족의 차이를 검증한 결과 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 개인적 특성인 학습기대, 자기효능성 중에서 학습기대만이 직무만족에 통계적으로 유의미한 정(+)적 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 교육훈련특성인 강사의 자질, 교육시설, 교육내용 중에서 교육시설과 교육내용만이 직무만족에 통계적으로 유의미한 정(+)적 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 업무환경(상사의 지원, 지속적 학습문화)은 직무만족에 통계적으로 유의미한 정(+) 적 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.

노인요양시설 요양대상자와 요양제공자 현황 분석 (Institutionalized Persons and Personnel of Nursing Homes for Elders)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the present status of institutionalized persons and personnel of nursing homes for elders. Method: A survey questionnaire was distributed to 520 nursing homes nationwide, of which 308 nursing homes responded by completing the questionnaire. The data were collected from November 1 to November 14, 2008. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results: Most home care facilities were situated in small or medium sized cities (46.8%, 56.6% respectively). About half of the nursing homes had 50-99 institutionalized persons (43.4~42.5%). Most of the nursing homes were operated by social welfare ownership. Average number of institutionalized persons was 41.7 and operation ratio of facilities was 93.9%. For severity of problems, 30% of institutionalized persons were assessed as third grade indicating mid-point severity. The average number of personnel was 18.6. The number of full-time positions was greater than that of part-time positions. The average income for the director was 2,600,000 Korean won, for nurses, 2,000,000, for social workers, 1,940,000, for physical therapists, 1,820,000, and for care workers, 1,560,000. Conclusion: Strategies need to be developed to maximize the value of the existing workforce without impacting on the quality of care delivered.

온라인 치과 롤플레이 영상 및 치과 ASMR 영상의 이용 현황과 효과 분석 (Status and effectiveness of online dental role-play images and dental ASMR videos)

  • This study aimed to compare the perception of dental role-play or dental ASMR videos between the general public and dental personnel, to determine whether they are suitable for mass media or educational media, and to identify guidelines for video production. The survey consent form was agreed on using SNS for the general public and dental personnel, 236 ordinary people and 232 dental officers who said that they watched dental ASMR videos were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of 27 questions for the general public and 31 for dental personnel. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test and the Independent T-test using SPSS 25.0 ver. The viewing experience of 'dental ASMR videos' was significantly higher among dentists (84.7%) than among the general population (71.5%) (p<0.001). Overall, 53.8% of the general public were interested in watching dental ASMR videos, and 47.8% of dental personnel acquired clinical information from them.. Overall, 64.8% of the general public and 65.5% of the dental workforce felt that such technical videos should be produced under the guidance of experts in the field to provide accurate technical information. It is necessary to avoid indiscriminate video production with inaccurate information produced by non-experts and to continuously monitor dental ASMR videos dental institutions for better quality of the videos.

  • Localization trends in Korea and trade liberalization in the world are the important challenges to agricultural extension services in Korea, and strategic directions in terms of system, organization, programs and conciousness would be necessary for adapting to the new circunstances. Some of the measures to improve and activate agricultural extension services in Korea should include the following: 1) Modification of extension personnel appointment regulations to secure specialized extension agents by the provincial administrators and county directors at the provincial and county level rural extension services. 2) Flexible organization and operation of county level rural guidance offices to meet the specific needs of local areas. 3) Strenghening the central government's financial support for effective local extension services in terms of facility and manpower. 4) Expansion of agricultural extension programs for women and urban people and quality inservice training for extension personnel.

  • 현재 RFID 기술을 이용한 항만의 관리 시스템은 점차 그 분야를 확대해가고 있다. 기존의 센서 기술이 물적 자원을 관리하기 위한 용도였다면, 이제는 인원관리를 위한 분야로 확대되고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 항만 내 작업인원에 대하여 여러 대역의 RFID 태그와 다양한 디자인의 태그를 소지하게 하여, RFID 리더를 통해 위치 정보를 수집하여 모니터링 하고 그 특성을 조사 분석하였다.

환자안전(patient safety) 개념분석 (Concept Analysis of Patient Safety)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the clear concept of patient safety and obtain theoretical evidences. Methods Research was conducted using Walker & Avant's conceptual analysis process. Results: Patient safety was defined as a activity that minimizes and removes possible errors and injuries to patients. It includes a basic desire to secure the patient's right to safety, and the legal regulations and duties of medical teams. The results of the establishment of a safety culture are patient-centered medical treatment and caring. Antecedents were found to be open and clear communications, continuous education and training for health care personnel, sufficient allocation of qualified personnel, cooperation among departments, improvements in the recognition of patient safety. Consequences were found to be the provision of high quality medical care and treatment, and increase in patient satisfaction. Conclusion: Patient safety as defined by the results of this study will contribute to the foundation of institutionalization of the pursuit of patient safety and creation of a hospital culture focusing on patient safety as a first priority.
