Wearable devices have the potential to revolutionize future medical diagnostics and personal healthcare. The integration of biosensors into scalable form factors allow continuous and noninvasive monitoring of key biomarkers and various physiological indicators. However, conventional wearable devices have critical limitations owing to their rigid and obtrusive interfaces. Recent developments in functional biocompatible materials, micro/nanofabrication methods, multimodal sensor mechanisms, and device integration technologies have provided the foundation for novel skin-interfaced bioelectronics for advanced and user-friendly wearable devices. Nonetheless, it is a great challenge to satisfy a wide range of design parameters in fabricating an authentic skin-interfaced device while maintaining its edge over conventional devices. This review highlights recent advances in skin-compatible materials, biosensor performance, and energy-harvesting methods that shed light on the future of wearable devices for digital health and personalized medicine.

This study delves into the unique transformation of South Korea's elderly population, distinctively termed 'Nomad Silver'. Characterized by individuals aged 65 and above who actively seek novel experiences and embrace new activities, this demographic shift signifies a departure from traditional perceptions of the elderly. The Nomad Silver cohort, distinguished by their significant economic influence and evolving needs, necessitates a tailored approach to healthcare services. This paper underscores the importance of comprehending both the fundamental biological needs and the personalized desires of the Nomad Silver, aiming to enhance their satisfaction and overall well-being. Hospitals, in response, should innovate their services to resonate with the emotional, psychological, and social facets of this age group. Consequently, the paper proposes a four-pronged strategy for hospitals to adapt: comprehensive healthcare provision, patient-centric service development, senior health education coupled with community engagement, and establishing a generational bridge hub. Furthermore, the paper posits that catering to the Nomad Silver not only promises substantial financial gains for hospitals but also fosters new business opportunities across various sectors.

This study proposes CAOPI(Computer Aided Organ Prediction Index) system based on APACHE II(Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation) for classifying disease severity and predicting the conditions of patients' major organs. The existing ICU disease severity evaluation is mostly about calculating risk scores using patients' data at certain points, which has limitations on making precise treatments. CAOPI system is designed to provide personalized treatments by classifying accurate severity degrees of emergency patients, predicting patients' mortality rate and scoring the conditions of certain organs.
Digital therapeutics (DTx) are emerging as a novel solution to improve lifestyle and prevent non-communicable diseases. Obesity is a complex, multi-factorial, chronic condition that requires patient-centered lifestyle modification. DTx, such as mobile applications and wearables, may offer easily accessible, efficient, and personalized care in the field of obesity and metabolic diseases. Yet, there is controversy over its clinical usefulness. This review will provide a comprehensive overview of DTx, including its potential role and current limitation in obesity care, based on recent literature.
Background: Life-long anticoagulant therapy is mandatory for patients who undergo heart valve replacement with implantation of a mechanical prosthesis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of a nurse-led patient educational program concerning oral anticoagulant therapy intake after heart valve replacement surgery on patients' knowledge of important parameters of anticoagulant administration. Methods: In this single-center study, 200 patients who underwent surgical implantation of a mechanical prosthesis were divided into 2 groups. The control group received the basic education concerning oral anticoagulants, while the intervention group received a personalized educational program. Results: Personalized education was correlated with a better regulation of therapeutic international normalized ratio (INR) levels and adequate knowledge among patients. Therapeutic levels of INR were achieved in 45% of the patients during the first month, 71% in the third month, and 89% in the sixth month after discharge in the intervention group, compared to 25%, 47%, and 76% in the control group, respectively. Patients' satisfaction with the information was higher in the intervention group than in the control group. The percentage of satisfaction reached 80% for the intervention group versus 37% for the patients of the control group. Conclusion: The implementation of the nurse-led educational programs was associated with improved clinical results and increased adherence to oral anticoagulant treatment.

'Personal Healthcare Records' (PHR) is a service for providing individual clinical data to patients. PHR service should be useful for the patient and healthcare service providers. This study has aimed at not only providing patients' clinical data but also developing optimized healthcare service for every patients. The research has been conducted as 3 phases: formal case analysis, caregivers interviews and patients interviews. The patients interviews were limited to cancer patients. As results, 3 key functions have been developed. First, it offers patient's clinical pathway as a personalized medical treatment scheduler. Second, it supplies Question & Answer board on online. Last, it supports patients to input their healthcare record. This Myongji PHR service has 3 months of pilot test on web and mobile application(android version). For further commercialized PHR service, the standardization for clinical pathway registration and user convenience need to be considered.
In modern western science, the humanities and social sciences are separated from the natural sciences. However, new interpretations should be explored based on holistic concepts and the principles of wholeness found in eastern nature. Examples of the latter from Korea include Lee Je Ma's Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). We aimed to examine the features and problems associated with SCM, as well as approaches to these problems. Sasang constitutional medicine suggests that an individual's constitution is determined congenitally, and the body and mind need to be considered simultaneously when treating disease. And SCM thinks that individuality is important in clinical practice even in social relationship. SCM needs to develop for objective diagnoses, and basic research needs to be conducted in parallel such as study of the Confucian classics and neo-confucianism. Expanding the scope of patient-centric academic exchange has been raised as an important issue to exchange with Western medicine and so on. SCM can be the medicine that places humanity at the center, and its mentality could apply to preventive medicine and personalized medicine. So it has positive influence on construction of a healthy society and improvement of healthcare worldwide.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test a hypothesis explaining direct and indirect relationships among the factors affecting self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients, based on self-determination theory. Methods: Data were collected from 222 outpatients with kidney transplantation. The endogenous and exogenous variables of the hypothetical model consisted of healthcare provider's autonomy support, duration after kidney transplantation, basic psychological need satisfaction, autonomous and controlled motivation, depression, and self-care behaviors. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 24.0 and AMOS 24.0. Results: The hypothetical model demonstrated a good fit: RMSEA=.06, SRMR=.04, TLI=.94, CFI=.97. Statistically significant explanatory variables for the self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients were duration after transplantation and basic psychological need satisfaction. Healthcare provider's autonomy support was indirectly significant, while autonomous motivation, controlled motivation and depression were not statistically significant for self-care behaviors. The variables accounted for 59.5% of the self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an autonomy support program for healthcare providers to enhance the self-care behaviors of kidney transplant patients. Preventing the deterioration of self-care behaviors will be possible by conducting this program at one year and six years post-transplantation. In addition, the results suggest the need to developing personalized autonomy support programs for healthcare providers that can meet the basic psychological need satisfaction of kidney transplant patients.
Purpose: This study empirically examines the effect of Communication Privacy Management(CPM) factors and Privacy Calculus factors to the intention to disclose Personal Health Information(PHI) in the context of healthcare ecosystem. Also, it investigates the moderating effects of CPM factors in the relationship between privacy calculus variables and the intention to disclose PHI. Methods: We conducted scenario-based repeated-measures quasiexperiment and used total 364 samples for analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis and repeated-measure ANOVA were employed using SPSS 24.0. Results: All CPM factors, such as type of information, requesting purpose, and requesting stakeholder, directly influence to the intention to disclose PHI, whereas only the medium trust out of the Privacy Calculus factors has direct influence on the intention to disclose PHI. With regard to the moderating effects, the requesting stakeholder is the most influential and the information type is the least influential construct. Conclusion: The findings suggest that healthcare system should be designed to provide more definite and personalized benefits to customers to enhance social and individual benefits by getting more participation from customers. Also, it is desirable that the requesting stakeholder of PHI would be non-profit organizations such as hospital, government or public agencies to secure more willingness of PHI from people. Furthermore, it is implied that extensive information gathering and utilization, instead of excluding sensitive information or critical patients' records, is recommended which is substantial to invigorate the healthcare industry.
