  • This paper presents a method that improves the performance of the personal voice dialling system in which speaker independent phoneme HMM's are used. Since the speaker independent phoneme HMM based voice dialing system uses only the phone transcription of the input sentence, the storage space could be reduced greatly. However, the performance of the system is worse than that of the system which uses the speaker dependent models due to the phone recognition errors generated when the speaker independent models are used. In order to solve this problem, a new method that jointly estimates transformation vectors for the speaker adaptation and transcriptions from training utterances is presented. The biases and transcriptions are estimated iteratively from the training data of each user with maximum likelihood approach to the stochastic matching using speaker-independent phone models. Experimental result shows that the proposed method is superior to the conventional method which used transcriptions only.

  • The importance of designing urban building complexes so that they obtain 'urban' power, rather than become isolated from the surrounding urban context, has been well recognized by both researchers and practitioners. Nevertheless, most current discussions are made from architects' personal experiences and intuition, and lack a quantitative understanding, to which obstacles include an in-depth exploration of the 'urban' power between building complexes and the urban environment. This paper attempts to measure this feature of 'urban', i.e., 'urbanity,' through a new analytical approach derived from the opendata environment. Three measurements that can be easily collected though the Google Maps API and Open Street Map are applied herein to evaluate high or low values of urbanity. Specifically, these are 'metric depth', i.e., the scale of extended public space, 'development density', i.e., density and distribution of point of interests (POIs), and 'type diversity', i.e., diversity of different commercial types. Six cases located in Japan, China and Hong Kong respectively are ranked based on this analytical approach and compared with each other. It shows that Japanese cases, i.e., Osaka Station City and Namba Parks, Osaka, obtained clearly higher values than cases in Shanghai and Hong Kong. On one hand, the insight generated from measuring and explaining 'urban' power would help to assist better implementation of this feature in the design of urban building complexes. On the other hand, this analytical approach can be easily extended to achieve a large-scale measurement and comparison among different urban building complexes, which is also helpful for design practitioners.

  • Statistical analysis is a process which produces information based on data gathering and summary for final decision. In various application fields, we obtain information which supports final decision using statistical analysis. But statistical software program in PC (personal computer) is restricted by time and space. So web based system which can be used in web browser has been developed to minimize these restrictions. To overcome these restrictions, we have developed web based system for statistical analysis without a particular software.

  • According to data from the national office of Statistics Korea and Ministry of Health and Welfare, as the elderly population increases, the dementia elderly population continues to increase and its future population growth rate is expected to be even faster. In particular, the Dementia Management Act has been in effect since February 2012, and active efforts has been made for a policy for the dementia management. The purpose of this study is to establish standards on building plans based on the appropriate scale and spatial configuration on facilities planning for the elderly with dementia. Specifically, the basic data were collected with a request for a total of 103 points on the basis of a database of group homes in the survey managed by the Japan Association of Group Homes. Specific information of the research includes the management body of facilities operation, scale of the facilities, number of units and configuration of personal living space, and the collected survey data and drawings were statistically proceed and analyzed using the SPSS WIN 20.0. analysis results are summarized as follows. first, most of the group homes come to the small size of the 1-2 story home ; the approximate number of units is one or two per home, and each unit consists of nine rooms. second, a number of group homes with the building area of $300m^2$ have the U-shaped arrangement which is advantageous in the extension and facilities maintenance. In conclusion, this study is to be the fundamental data for judgments that can be used to establish standards for the facilities for the dementia elderly whose population continues to increase. In addition, further study is necessary to establish suitable design conditions of our country.

  • In general, WBAN environment which use wearable devices on the human body show the different characteristics from other personal area networks. It is usually composed of sensors contacting the body and user terminal collecting the data from the sensors. The sensors are under the significant constraint of the energy resources, but the user terminal is different because it can be recharged and relatively have large energy resources. Under this characteristics, we design a new MAC protocol considering this requirements. The proposed MAC protocol can increase the energy efficiency of sensors and loads the unavoidable energy consumption to the user terminal for high energy efficiency of sensors. Additionally, the proposed MAC protocol provides the low delivery delay of the emergency information for the differentiated QoS because the emergency data requires more rapid transmission than the periodic sensed data. For this requirement, we employ the IFS (Inter Frame Space). For the efficient and objective evaluation of the proposed MAC protocol, IEEE 802.15.6 MAC is used to compare with it and we show that the advantage of the proposed MAC meet our expectation.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider incense culture found in costume and life in forms of carrying and decoration. Here, incense for carrying and decoration is classified into two cases, using it as a costume accessory and life space. Hyangjumony, Hyangnorigae, Hyangjul, Hyangdae and Hyangseonchu were costume accessories. Hyangjumony was not only used for the royal palanguin, but also for bedroom. When Poetic Literature, and other ancient publications were reviewed in regard to incense for carrying and decoration, it was estimated that incense began to be carried for the first time before the late period of Shilla(9C). In addition, it was found that incense was not just a personal taste, but one of important gifts exchanged between states, envoys of different nations and between sovereign and subject and that incense was a necessary costume accessory for men. Types of incense for carrying and decoration used in this nation are classified into Hyangjumony, Hyangnorigae, Hyangjul and Hyangseonchu. Hyangjumony is a fabric pouch that contains incense. Hyangnorigae is Norigae whose main material is incense. Hyangjul is a string to which incense is hanged. Hyangseonchu is Seonchu whose main material is incense. Incense for carrying and decoration was based on five colors that symbolize cosmic order and harmony, of which red and purple were mostly used. Red strongly suggests expelling Yin with Yang, or exorcism. The color gives a strong impression, so it was often used to make a carried incense more decorating. Main materials of incense for carrying and decoration were gold, silver, precious stone and horsehair. They are different in characteristics, but were used appropriately for incense fragrance and decoration. Patterns mainly used for the incense had shapes of animal, plant, sipjangsaeng and letter. These were all auspicious patterns that symbolize human wishes and desires, especially individual and family happiness.

  • Jean Renaudie was an French architect who designed many urban social housing in France, especially in the city of Ivry-sur-Seine, near Paris, with Renee Gailhoustet, co-responsible as the architect of this city, communist city from long time. He was formed as an architect by the influence of Auguste Perret and Marcel Lods, two french architects, great specialist of the structure of concrete. He formed the Atelier Montrouge with Pierre Riboulet, Gerard Thurnauer, Jean-Louis Verret, and proposed many innovative projects, based on geometrically pure forms and masses. After he joined Renee Gailhoustet, the architect of the City of Ivry-sur-Seine, as a co-responsible for the redevelopment of this ideologically communist city. His urban housing concept approached to take the function as a space to welcome the urban life of the resident, not to offer the physical provision of housing repeating the simple housing unity. He accentuated the social role of Housing project not only as the level of a personal home but also as that of an urbanism. He offered divers choice opportunity to the citizen by the urban functional complex through his efforts to make characteristic complex of urban housing, and by the consequence, the innovative result was done which ameliorated the quality of life for resident. This is an exceptional example, not only in France but even in whole over the world. But the maintenance of building against the oldness and the closing shop of inside commercial zone of Jeanne Hachette became a problem, not only that of physical amelioration but also that of spiritual conservation of the works of Jean Renaudie.

  • Recently, in the cyberspace, the posts that have only insults and abuses without the fact are getting spread rapidly as a trend, it makes the damage to people also, and the social concerns have been raised about its phenomenon. Meanwhile, because of the insulting actions that performed in cyberspace, the results of infringement of personal rights conditions getting difficult to repair. Also, it is difficult to find who the person who acts as a perpetrator is. So, it is hard to report a crime or sued for damages, also, it is really difficult to deal with a criminal contempt. Also, cause of a lot of deficient areas, the Cyber Insult Crime act is need and strengthened penalties or Mitigation about the crime subject to victim's complaint are need. However, give the criminal penalties to criminal is sufficient. So, to construct a new special criminal law, it is not advisable. Thus, governed by the Criminal Code Section 311 is preferably.
