Toward the Personal Robot Software Framework (차세대 퍼스널 로봇 소프트웨어 프러임워크에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a software framework is proposed for the personal robot located on home network. The proposed software framework is divided into four layers-a transparency layer, a behavior layer, a distributed task layer, and a mission scenario layer. The transparency layer consists of a virtual machine for platform transparency, and a communication broker for communication transparency among behavior modules. The communication architecture includes both server/client communication and publisher/subscriber communication. A mission scenario is assumed to be a composition of sequentially planned distributed tasks. In addition to the software framework, a new concept, personal robot design center platform as proposed in this paper with its implementation mechanisms. The personal robot design center is defined as a developing and a managing environment for high-level behavior modules, distributed tasks, and mission scenarios.

  • The purpose of this paper is to perform the engine driving well with controling the IAC(Idle Air Control) valve which controls the demand-air when the abrput increasing or decrasing and the idling, the fuel by controlling the injector, and the spark timing. This plant is the complex system because this should be controlled each other and each one affects other. We have controlled this system effectively by using Personal Computer in order to reduce the exhaust gas and improve the engine performance.

  • The personal digital recorder is a consumer electronics device that records television shows to a hard disk in digital format. In this paper, we propose an implementation method of personal digital recorder for HDTV. The proposed personal recorder includes CPU and system control modules, graphics and display module, audio DSP module, digital I/O module, NIM module, graphic software library, and embedded software modules for providing a lot of personal digital recorder functions such as live or reserved recordings, browsing of recorder content list, trick lay and time shifting. Especially, combining trick play with time shifting makes much more convenient functions such as pausing live TV, instant replay of interesting scenes, and skipping advertising.

  • A personal mobility withstanding function for the disabled and vulnerable groups with difficulties in mobility was developed and structural and dynamics analysis was conducted. Personal mobility devices are a very helpful means of transportation for the disabled and vulnerable groups. In addition, the standing function allows individuals to perform a difficult task in while seated and offers a medical advantage to the user. In this study, a personal mobility device was designed and developed to help vulnerable groups and disabled people overcome limited mobility, and communicate with the general people at eye level through standing functions. Through structural and dynamic analysis, the structural safety, optimal speed during rotation, and lateral acceleration of the personal mobility device was analyzed. The analysis results are expected to contribute to the improvement of the users' convenience and stability of personal mobility.

  • This paper proposes a middleware structure for the module-based personal robot, which can run on heterogeneous network interfaces and provides users easy interface-method regardless of underlying heterogeneous interfaces and convenient exchange of modules. The proposed middleware is divided into three layers of a streaming layer (SL), a network adaptation layer (NAL) and a network interface layer (NIL). The streaming layer manages application transactions using middleware services and provides user a uniform interfaces to the proposed middleware. The network adaptation layer manages a message-routing and provides naming service and it is a core of the proposed middleware. And the network interfaces layer manages dependent parts of heterogeneous network interfaces such as IEEE1394, USB, Ethernet, and CAN (Control Area Network). This paper implements the proposed middleware structure, where 3 types of interfaces of IEEE 1394, USB and Ethernet are used, and measures response times among those interfaces.

  • This study proposes a new methodology to estimate the traffic capacity of a personal rapid transit(PRT) system. The proposed method comprises three steps. The first step models the guideway network(GN) of PRT as a digraph, where its node and link represent a station and a one-way guideway link between two stations, respectively. Given local vehicle control strategies, the second step formulates the local traffic capacities through the nodes and links of the GN model. The third step estimates the worst-case local traffic demands based on a shortest-path routing algorithm and an empty vehicle allocation algorithm. By comparing the traffic estimates to the local traffic capacities, we can determine the feasibility of the given GN in traffic capacity.

  • In this paper, we propose the RDC(Robot Design Center) for a network-based personal robot system. The RDC is developed under the new software framework for personal robots. The configuration for each modules in robot and functions of the RDC are described. The concept of standardized and modular program is presented and finally, developing procedures are proposed.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method for authenticating a user's personal-usage using a secure portable storage, so that the user carrying the secure portable storage is able to consume his/her own broadcast programs freely, regardless of the location of the devices. The proposed authentication process is performed by a portable personal-usage authentication device, an access-control module for the portable personal-usage authentication device, and a player integrating the access control module. The portable personal-usage authentication device plays a role of secure storage in which domain authentication information is securely stored, while the access-control module is in charge of accessing the authentication information and, consequently, acquiring a decryption key. The player decrypts the broadcast programs in real time and processes the decrypted media streams. In this Paper, we describe the structure and procedure of the proposed model, and verify its feasibility by implementation.

  • MyData is an approach of personal data management, which grants data subjects the right to decide how to use and where to provide their data. With the explicit consent of the subjects, service providers can collect scattered data from data sources and offer personalized services based on the collected data. In existing service models, personal data saved in data storage can be shared with data processors of service providers or third parties. However, once personal data are transferred to third-party processors, it is difficult for data subjects to trace and control their personal data. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a cloud model where both data storage and processor are located within a single cloud, ensuring that data do not leave the cloud.

  • This paper presents implementation details of home appliance control system using personal communicator based on LN2440 single board computer, which recognizes hand-gesture of user, controls remote moving device such as mobile home server, robot etc. through delivery of proper control commands. Also, this paper includes details of design and implementation of home gateway and mobile home server. The implemented prototype can be utilized to develop various remote control system including a remote exploration robot, intelligent wheelchair based on general purpose embedded system.
