Sol-Gel법에 의한 강유전체 Pb(Zr, Ti)$O_3$의 제조 및 특성에 관한 연구 (Investigation on the property and preparation of ferroelectric Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ by Sol-Gel method)

  • In recent years Sol-Gel processing provides an interesting alternative method for the fabrication of ferroelectric thin layers and powder. PZT powder was prepared from an alkoxide-based solution by a Sol-Gel method. Gelation of synthesized complex solutions, microstructure, thermal analysis and crystallization behaviors of the calcined powder were studied in accordance with a water content and a catalyst. Especially gelation and crystallization behavior were analysed with the change of pH. The gelation time decreased as the pH of the mixed solution increased. For PZT powder with 650.deg. C heat treatment, 100% perovskite phase was formed by using either acidic or basic catalyst. By using either acidic or basic catalyst, we were able to get very fine powders of uniform shape with an average particle size of 0.8-1.mu.m.

PZT 특성에 미치는 불순물의 영향(I) (Effects of Impurity on Properties of PZT(I))

  • A new perovskite type compound, (Pb1a-χKy□χ-y) (Zr0.33Ti0.67)O3-χ+y/2 was proposed and synthesized by "Wet-Dry Combination Technique". This defect ferroelectric material was characterized by partial substitutions of K+ for Pb+2 in Pb(Zr0.33Ti0.67)O3. This material was mono-phasic perovskite compound at 800℃ for 1hr., but ZrO2 was more or less isolated from the (Pb1a-χKy□χ-y) (Zr0.33Ti0.67)O3-χ+y/2. As a result, snitering temperature, sintered density, curie temperature, and dielectric constant of test pieces decreased and a-axis was nearly constant, while c-axis gradually decreased with the value x in the region of tetragonal phase of PZT. It was also recognized that the defect structure caused by adding K+ was found in both A-site cation and O-site anion vacancies in the defect PZT.

Cr-doped Y2O3-Al2O3계 붉은 안료의 합성과 적용 (Synthesis of Cr-doped Y2O3-Al2O3 Red Pigments and their Application)

  • New inorganic red pigments based on Cr-doped $Y_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ were synthesized by solid state method and characterization of their pigments were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, SEM and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The single perovskite phase revealed at $1450^{\circ}C{\sim}1550^{\circ}C$ for 6 h due to using mineralizers. The color of pigment powders resulted out various red-shades depending on the compositions of used materials and temperatures. Glazed tiles painted with pigment powders showed red color in oxidation and reduction firing. The best red colour was obtained when the $Cr_2O_3$ was used 0.04 mole at $1450^{\circ}C$ for 6 h.

Ion Beam Assisted Crystallization Behavior of Sol-Gel Derived $PbTiO_3$ Thin Films

  • Ion beam assisted crystallization behavior of sol-gel derived $PbTiO_3$ thin films, deposited on bare silicon(100) substrates by spin-casting method, has been investigated. Ar ion bombardment was directly conducted on the spincoated film surface with or without heating the film from room temperature to $300^{\circ}C$. Ion dose was changed from $5{\times}10^{15}$ to $7.5{\times}10^{16}$ $Ar^-/cm^2$. Formation of (110) oriented perovskite phase was obseerved with ion dose above $5{\times}10^{16}\; Ar^+/cm^2$. Crystallization of $PbTiO_3$ thin film could be enhanced with increasing the Air ion dose, or heating the substrate during ion bombardment. Crystallization of the $PbTiO_3$ films by ion bombardment was related to the local heating effect during ion bombardment.

  • Bismuth lanthanum titanate thin films with excess Bi contents were prepared onto Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by metalorganic decomposition (MOD) technique. The structure and morphology of the films were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), respectively. From the XRD analysis, BLT thin films show polycrystalline structure and the layered-perovskite phase was obtained over 10% excess of Bi contents. As a result of ferroelectric characteristics related to the Bi content of the BLT thin film, the remanent polarization and dielectric constant decreased with increasing over Bi content of 10 % excess. The BLT film with Bi content of 10% excess was measured to have a dielectric constant of n9 and dielectric loss of 1.85[%]. The BLT thin films showed little polarization fatigue test up to 3.5 x $10^{9}$ bipolar switching cycling.

  • Usually for the commercial preparation of barium titanate films or ceramics the reaction atmosphere must be preferably in air. However, normally air is not used because it contains carbon dioxide, which can easily react with barium to form the undesired product barium carbonate, leading to unwanted second-phase formation in the (mal stages of the process. In the present work a series of perovskite barium titanate films was prepared by the sol-gel method, using a metal alkoxide solutions in the electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The influence of several process parameters, like sintering temperature of sol preparation before EPD and heat-treatment temperature and non-oxidized atmosphere, on the film properties is described.

Preparation and Sintering Characteristics of Y-doped $SrZrO_3$ by Citrate Gel Method

  • Proten-conductive $SrZr_{0.95} Y_{0.05} O_{2.975}$ powder was prepared by citrate gel method its characteristics and sinterability were investigated. Amorphous gel could be obtained from a citric acid solution that $SrCO_3$ and metal nitrates were dissolved. The initial decomposition of the gel proceeded up to $250^{\circ}C$, followed by combustion of its decomposition products in the temperature range from $250^{\circ}C$ to $500^{\circ}C$. A well-crystallized perovskite phase with a stoichiometric composition after calcination at $1000^{\circ}C$. Sintering green compacts of this powder for 6 h showed a considerable densification to start at $1200^{\circ}C$ and resulted in 86.8% and 96.5% relative densities at $1400^{\circ}C$ and $1600^{\circ}C$, respectively. Whereas, the powder compacts prepared by solid state reaction had much lower relative densities, 73% at $1400^{\circ}C$ and 92% at $1600^{\circ}C$.

  • The conductivity properties and synthesis of $LaNiO_{3}$ ceramics from $La_{1+\delta}NiO_{3}(\delta=-0.06,0,0.06)$ were investigated. A single perovskite phase was realized at $800^{\circ}C$. $La_{2}NiO_{4}$ and other unexpected oxide were observed at $1000^{\circ}C$. The Microstructure was showed clearly that it is a low density porous material. $LaNiO_3$ ceramic showed a metallic conductivity. The conductivity of La rich samples had a higher value than the La poor samples.

  • 페로브스카이트형 강유전체의 활발한 연구는 제2차 세계대전중 미국과 구 소련등에서 TiO$_{2}$ 고체 콘덴서를 개량하던 중에 Ba 이 첨가된 BaTiO$_{3}$를 발견하면서부터 시작되었고, 일본에서는 PbZr$_{0.5}$Ti$_{0.5}$O$_{3}$의 morphotropic phase boundary를 발견하면서부터 이루어졌으며, 그것이 지니는 특성때문에 고체콘덴서, 초전형 적외선 센서, 초음파 발생과 검출기, 압전 점화기 및 표면파필터기 등 여러방면에 실용화 되고 있다. 따라서, 본 보고에서는 지금까지 연구된 페로브스카이트형 강유전체 세라믹 재료의 물성을 소개하고 앞으로의 연구동향 등에 관하여 서술하고자 한다.

Growth and characterization of Eu-doped bismuth titanate (BET) thin films deposited by sol-gel method

  • Lead-free bismuth-layered perovskite ferroelectric europium-substituted $Bi_{4}Ti_{3}O_{12}(BTO)$ thin films have been successfully deposited on Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si substrate by a sol-gel spin-coating process. $Bi(TMHD)_3,\;Eu(THMD)_3,\;Ti(OiPr)_4$ were used as the precursors, which were dissolved in 2-methoxyethanol. The thin films were annealed at various temperatures from $600^{\circ}\;to\;720^{\circ}C$ in oxygen ambient for 1 hr, which was followed by post-annealed for 1 hr after depositing a Pt electrode to enhance the electrical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to analyze the crystallinity and surface morphology of layered perovskite phase, respectively. The remanent polarization value of the BET thin films annealed at $720^{\circ}C\;was\;25.95{\mu}C/cm^2$ at an applied voltage of 5 V.
