Sensorless Fuzzy MPPT Control for a Small-scale Wind Power Generation System with a Switched-mode Rectifier (SMR 회로를 이용한 소형풍력발전 시스템의 센서리스 퍼지 MPPT제어)

  • This paper proposes a low-cost switched-mode rectifier (SMR) for a small-scale wind turbine with a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) system. Also, a sensorless Fuzzy MPPT control is realized by the proposed system. In the PMSG system with the SMR, the synchronous impedance can be replaced as the input inductor of a boost converter. Moreover, the sensorless MPPT control using the Fuzzy technique is carried out by the duty-ratio regulation of the SMR. The relation between the generating power and the duty-ratio is ruled by the chain rule. The wind turbine model is implemented by the squirrel cage induction motor and generated the variable torque when the generator speed is varied. To verify the performance of the proposed system, simulation and experimental results are executed.

  • Unison의 U50 풍력발전기는 실증실험을 거쳐서 상용화 되어 시장에 제품으로 나와 있다. U50에 사용되는 영구자석 동기발전기는 Stator 내경 3.32 m 로 84극을 가지고 있으며 정격 25 rpm으로 운전되는 직접구동형이다. 직접구동형 발전기는 Gearbox 가 불필요한 반면에 높은 torque로 인해서 발전기가 무거운 단점이 있다. 기존의 U50 에 사용되는 발전기는 지지 구조물까지 포함할 경우 총중량이 약 20톤 이상이다. 발전기의 중량을 줄이고 경량화 시키기 위하여 slot에 들어가는 Ampere turn을 증가시키고 turn 수를 증가시켜서 기존과 유사한 전압, 전류, 출력을 유지하면서 축방향 Stator 길이를 감소시킨 최적화 모델에 대한 설계에 대하셔 연구를 진행하였으며 이 보고에서는 그 결과와 절차에 대해서 요약한다.

  • This paper deals with the novel type DAVR(digital Automatic voltage Regulator) of the field control system for improving the response and efficiency. The proposed Hybrid type Synchronous Generator consists of permanent magnet which can generate the constant voltage with controlless and field winding. Using Buck-type PWM converter, the response can be improved in the proposed system. The proper operation of the proposed excitation system was verified through the design and experiments.

  • In order to achieve a gearless construction of the wind energy conversion system(WECS), a low-speed generator should be used. Of the various candidate machine types, radial-field, multi-pole, permanent magnet, synchronous machines may be used for low-speed applications. So, this paper deals with the design of direct-coupled, multi-pole radial field machines with permanent magnet(PM) excitation for wind power applications for cogging torque reduction through the determination of optimum pole arc/pitch ratio. On the basis of an equivalent magnetic circuit method(EMCM) and a space harmonic method(SHM), an initial design is performed considering restricted conditions. And then, a detailed design is made using a non-linear finite element analyses(FEA). Finally, test results concerning generating characteristics are given to confirm the validation of the design.

  • POSTECH Graduate School of Wind Energy is trying to upgrade the PMSG used for Unison U50 to 900 kW class. Intensive optimization efforts are carried out the reduce the axial size and total weight of the generator while increasing the rated output to 900 kW. The generator features 3.32m stator inner radius, 671mm stator length, 84 pole, 25 rated rpm and 31.6kN/$m^2$ shear force density. To reduce the gross weight, the stronger magnetic material is applied with optimal magnet size resulting lowest cogging torque. Also, instead of stator skewing the stator, the magnet position along the circumference is optimized to further reduce the cogging torque. This scheme eliminates the stator skewing procedure and may enhance the productivity. This method also reduces the total harmonic distortion. In this report, upgrade method, no-load line to line voltage and phase voltage, cogging torque, loss calculations and thermal analysis are presented.

  • 영구자석형 발전기는 외부의 여자 전원이 필요 없어서, 비상 전원으로 뿐 아니라, 소형 발전설비에서의 발전기의 여자 전원으로도 사용될 수 있다. 특히, 내삽형 영구자석형 동기발전기는 자석보다 극의 자속밀도를 더 높일 수 있어, 저가, 고성능 발전기 제작이 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 발전기에 필요한 발전기 해석기술을 개발한다. 정밀 해석을 위한 등가회로를 모델링하고, 이로부터 해석적인 결과를 얻는다. 전기자 저항을 고려한 경우와 고려하지 않은 경우를 비교하여 해석의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • 튜블러 선형 동기발전기는 간단하고 안정적인 구조이며, 구조적으로 수직력이 발생하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 파력발전에 튜블러 선형 동기발전기를 소개한다. 또한 flat type과 특성비교를 통하여 튜블러 발전기가 파력발전에 적합함을 증명하였다.

Development of Wound Rotor Synchronous Motor for Belt-Driven e-Assist System

  • The automotive industry is showing widespread interest in belt-driven electric motor-assisted (e-Assist) systems. A belt-driven assist system (BAS) starts and assists the combustion engine in place of the conventional generator. In this study, a water-cooled wound rotor synchronous motor (WRSM) for the e-Assist system was designed and analyzed. The performance of the WRSM was compared with that of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The WRSM efficiency can be improved for the BAS by adjusting the field flux at high speeds. The field current map to obtain the maximum efficiency based on the speed and torque was developed. To control the field flux via field current control in the WRSM, a general H-bridge circuit was added to the WRSM inverter to get the rapid current response in the high-speed region; the characteristics were compared with the chopper circuit. A WRSM developed for the belt-driven e-Assist system and a prototype 115 V power electronic converter to drive the WRSM were tested with a 900 cc combustion engine. The test results showed that the WRSM-type e-Assist system had good characteristics and could successfully start and assist the 900 cc combustion engine.

A Study on 3-Phase Balance of Offshore Wind Generator with Dual Inverter System (2중 인버터 시스템을 갖는 해상용 풍력발전기의 3상 평형성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper shows the method of winding connection and the balance of three phase of dual inverter systems used for offshore wind power generator. In order to satisfy low cost manufacturing of large scaled wind generator, the number of slot per pole per phase should be reduced. For this reason, in this research, the number is selected as '1' which is the minimum number that stator can have. Based on the prototype machine, three types of machine for the analysis are selected, and various performances especially in terms of electrically balanced condition are also investigated. Moreover, in this paper, new inductance modeling of dual 3-phase considering cross-coupling between two inverter systems is proposed. The several inductances such as mutual-, synchronous inductances are studied. By using FEA, based on calculated the flux linkage of d and q-axis, the validity of the proposed inductance modeling is confirmed.
