  • A high attention has been paid on the running safety of Korean high-speed train, KTX. In running of KTX on bridge, the running unsafety problem issued from a resonance phenomenon of bridge, which was usually caused by the periodic wheel-loads of train. Therefore, many researches on this running safety of train on bridge have been conducted by domestic or foreign researchers. In this paper, for PSC box-girder bridge which is the representative high-speed railway bridge type, some numerical analyses on the dynamic characteristics of bridge with the non-periodic wheel-loads through vehicle size adjustment were performed. These numerical analyses shows the fact that the resonance phenomenon on bridge was mitigated through vehicle size adjustment. Additional numerical analyses on the vibration reduction of bridge in accordance with the location of size-adjusted vehicle were performed. From these results, it was represented that the adjustment of vehicle size has an effect on the running safety of train as well as the ride comfort.

  • Scattering fields of two dimensional acoustic waves by a circular cylinder are investigated. The present numerical approach for the acoustic scattering problem has difficulties of numerical robustness, long-time stability and suitability of far-field boundary treatments. The time-dependent periodic acoustic source is used to analyze Interference patterns between incident waves and waves reflected by the cylinder. Characteristic boundary algorithms coupled with 4th order Modified-Flux-Approach ENO(essentially non-oscillatory) schemes are employed in generalized coordinates to examine the effect of the wane frequency on the interference patterns. Non-reflecting boundary conditions, which is crustal for accurate computations of aeroacoustic problems, are used not to contaminate scattering fields by reflected waves at the outer boundary. Computed scattering fields show the circumferential acoustic modes generated by interacting between acoustic sources and scattered waves. At a lower frequency, the wave passes almost straight through the cylinder without Interacting with circular cylinder. Simulation results are presented and compared with the analytic solution. Computed RMS-pressure distribution on the cylinder wall is good agreement with exact solution.

  • In this paper, the dynamics of a 2-DOF not 1:1 resonant Hamiltonian system are studied. In the first part of the work, the behaviors of special periodic orbits called normal modes are examined by means of the harmonic balance method and their approximate stability ar analyzed by using the Synge's concept named stability in the kinematico-statical sense. Secondly, the global dynamics of the system for low and high energy are studied in terms of a perturbation analysis and Poincare' maps. In this part, one can see that the unstable normal mode generates chaotic motions resulting from the transverse intersections of the stable and unstable manifolds. Although there exist analytic methods for proving the existence of infinitely many periodic orbits, chaos, they cannot be applied in our case and thus, the Poincare' maps constructed by direct numerical integrations are utilized fot detecting chaotic motions. In the last part of the work, the existence of arbitrarily many periodic orbits of the system are proved by using a subharmonic Melnikov's method. We also study the possibility of the breakdown of invariant KAM tori only when h>h$_{0}$ (h$_{0}$:bifurcating energy) and investigate the generality of the destruction phenomena of the rational tori in the systems perturbed by stiffness and inertial coupling.

  • The power input to an infinite cylindrical shell excited by a point force is investigated. The circumferential direction and axial direction of the cylindrical shell is assumed as a two-dimensional unbounded medium, and the point force is replaced as a periodic array of imaginary sources. The spatial Fourier transform is taken from the equation of motion of the cylindrical shell, which is derived from the static model of Donell-Mushtari-Vlasov. The inverse Fourier transform is taken to derive the vibration responses. Mobility from out-of-plane forces and in-plane forces are derived from the obtained vibration responses. The theory is applied to a cylindrical shell excited by a normal direction of point force.

  • It is generally known that many cases of pathological rough voice are characterized not by simple random perturbations but by quasi-periodic perturbations in the speech wave. However, there are few studies on the characteristics of perturbations in vocal fold vibrations associated with this type of voice. We have been conducting studies of pathological vocal fold vibration using a high-speed digital image recording system developed by our institute, Compared to the ordinary high-speed-motion picture system, the present system is compact and simple to operate and thus, it suited for pathological data collection. • The principal idea of vibration isolation is to filter out the response of the system over the corner frequency. The isolation objectives are to transmit the attitude control torque within the bandwidth of the attitude control system and to filter all the high frequency components coming from vibration equipment above the bandwidth. However, when a reaction wheels or control momentum gyros control spacecraft attitude, vibration inevitably occurs and degrades the performance of sensitive devices. Therefore, vibration should be controlled or isolated for missions such as Earth observing, broadcasting and telecommunication between antenna and ground stations. For space applications, technicians designing controller have to consider a periodic vibration and disturbance to ensure system performance and robustness completing various missions. In general, past research isolating vibration commonly used 6 degree order freedom isolators such as Stewart and Mallock platforms. In this study, the vibration isolation device has 3 degree order freedom, one translational and two rotational motions. The origin of the coordinate is located at the center-of-gravity of the upper plane. In this paper, adaptive notch filter finds the disturbance frequency and the reference signal in filtered-x least mean square is generated by the notch frequency. The design parameters of the notch filter are updated continuously using recursive least square algorithm. Therefore, the adaptive filtered-x least mean square algorithm is applied to the vibration suppressing experiment without reference sensor. This paper shows the experimental results of an active vibration control using an adaptive filtered-x least mean squares algorithm.

  • For a pump or a compressor motor, a high periodic load torque variation is induced by the mechanical works, and it causes system vibration and noise. To minimize these problems, load torque compensation method, injecting periodic torque current, could be utilized. However, with the sensorless control method, which is usually utilized in the pump and compressor for low cost, the periodic torque current degrades the accuracy of the rotor position estimation owing to the inductance variation. This paper analyzes the rotor position and speed estimation error of sensorless control method with constant motor parameters under period loading. Assuming the constant speed by the accurate load torque compensation, the speed error equation is derived in frequency domain with inductance depending on the stator current. Further, it is also shown that the rotor position error could be minimized by compensating the inductance variation. The simulation and experimental results verify that the derived speed error model and the validity of the inductance compensation method.

  • In the rail facilities the rail track consists of rail tie fastening accessories and bed,. The rail track is largely divided into Ballast Bed Track(BBT) and Concrete Bed Track(CBT) according to the type of bed. In this thesis among Concrete Bed Track slab track which is used for the Japanese high speed railway is a target of this study. Dynamic analysis by using finite element method are performed. where moving rain load is periodic function. Then through parametric study some conclusions are obtained as follow. Cement Asphalt Mortar(CAM) affects contrary mechanical behavior to rail and slab greatly. Therefore change of CAM spring coefficient should be handled with care, For slab thickness thin slab is more profitable to reduction of vibration of rail than thick one but mechanical capacity of slab is deteriorated, Improved structural type is proposed then structural analysis is performed for this one. This type is effective to reduction of vibration of railway system.

  • Sound absorptive materials have good performance in high frequency range, not at low frequencies. Therefore it has been great challenge to develop a sound absorbing structure that is good at low frequency. We propose to use a Helmholtz resonator array panel for this purpose. A Helmholtz resonator is one of noise control elements widely used in many practical applications. The resonator is a simple structure composed of a rigid-walled cavity with a neck, but it has very high performance at resonance frequency. This paper discusses the sound absorption of Helmholtz resonator array panels at normal and random incidence. First, various experimental results are introduced and studied. Secondly, we theoretically predict the absorptive characteristics of the resonator away panel. The theoretical approach is based on the Fourier analysis for a periodic absorber. We believe that this method can be used to design a panel for low frequency noise control.
