The study suggests that to compensate for the variety of inhabitants, flexible housing plans are needed. Furthermore, it proposes the support and infill system for the flexible plan of multi-family housing based on the inhabitants need. The inhabitants' need for the flexible plan of multi-family housing was studied using a survey using models. The survey target was the 100 housewives living in a $126.6m^2$(sold as 45 Pyeong) Apartment in Busan. The characteristics of the respondents were first examined, then to figure out the attitude towards the need for the flexible plan of multi-family housing, the concept and preference for the plan, and the satisfaction level of the current apartment plan were analyzed. To find out the structure of the flexible plan of multi-family housing, the need for the structure, furniture, light, and finishing materials were studied. Lastly, to learn the durability of the construction material, the preferred moving period and the reasons were researched. On the basis of the findings, the support and infill system was suggested.
This study was carried out to evaluate the Life Cycle Cost(LCC) of three types of RTPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) systems-Glass plus Granite. Crystalline BIPV and See through Amorphous BIPV-which were vertically installed to generate the same power output(76 kW level). Initial investment costs. cost. savings and maintenance costs had been predicted during the period of analysing the LCC of three types of BIPV(Building Integrated Photovoltaic) systems installed for the purpose of evaluating the LCC. In case of cost savings, it had been analyzed by measuring the amount of electric power generated, reduction in lighting load and heat & cooling loads through simulation. From this analysis, it was predicted that the See-through amorphous BIPV offering cost saving advantages demonstrated the economical efficiency similar to the Class plus Granite when it is backed by more than 20 years of durability.
The formation characteristics of calcium carbonates are closely related to the durability and mechanical properties of cement-based materials. In this regard, a deep understanding of the reaction pathway of calcium carbonates is critical. Recently, non-classical nucleation theory was summarized and it was presumed that prenucleation clusters are present. The formation of the prenucleation cluster at undersaturated condition (≈ 0.1 ml) in the present study was investigated via electrical characteristics of an electrolytic solution. Calcium chloride dihydrate (CaCl2·2H2O) and sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) were used as starting materials to supply calcium and carbonate sources, respectively. Furthermore, the reaction pathway of calcium carbonates was investigated by time-resolved polarization and depolarization characteristics of the electrolytic solution. The time-resolved polarization and depolarization tests were conducted by switching polarity with an interval of 20 seconds for 1 hr and by measuring the variation of electrical resistance. It can be inferred from the results obtained in the present study that the reactive constituent for the formation of calcium carbonates was mostly consumed in the period possibly associated with the prenucleation and the reaction pathways may be governed by the monomer-addition mechanism.
Refined analysis depicting mass transportation and physicochemical reaction and reasonable computing load with acceptable DOFs are the two major challenges of numerical simulation for concrete durability. Mesoscopic numerical simulation for chloride diffusion considering binder, aggregate and interfacial transition zone is unable to be expended to the full structure due to huge number of DOFs. In this paper, a multiscale approach of combining both mesoscopic model including full-graded aggregate and equivalent macroscopic model was introduced. An equivalent conversion of chloride content at the Interfacial Transition Layer (ITL) connecting both models was considered. Feasibility and relative error were discussed by analytical deduction and numerical simulation. Case study clearly showed that larger analysis model in multiscale model expanded the diffusion space of chloride ion and decreased chloride content in front of rebar. Difference for single-scale simulation and multiscale approach was observed. Finally, this paper addressed some worth-noting conclusions about the chloride distribution and rebar corrosion regarding the configuration of rebar placement, rebar diameter, concrete cover and exposure period.
B2S(Ballasted track To Slab track) that is track system has been first developed in 2004 with foundation of rich experience and know-how of subway track upkeep and mending of facilities in 36 years to improve an existence pebble track at a concrete track. 'B2S' is admitted technology through patent registration in the domestic and Europe and it's made by a factory and put together at field, so it's able to construct precisely and to reduce a construction period. In addition, safety, the ecological balance and durability are excellent, and walking, cleaning, etc. has the advantage of easy maintenance. 'B2S' is currently laying 27.7km at Seoulmetro as of end of 2010 standard, but it'll be expected to be applied to a domestic Metro more from now on. It is possible to classify the total cost resolution structure of B2S system by R&D cost, test production and experiment cost, the initial facility cost, maintenance cost, disposal cost. In this research, it seems useful for selection evaluation which considered the life cycle cost or economics of the concrete track structure by analyzing an initial cost of facilities.
Geotextiles form one of the two largest groups of geosynthetics and it is consisted two major types of synthetic material (Woven, Non-woven). The functions of geotextiles are separation, reinforcement, filtration, drainage and as a moisture barrier. Within these functions, however, there are a large number of applications or use areas. Although the many research scholar and engineer developed and established the design criteria and construction methodology of geosynthetics filter layer, because the lack of suitable design terminology and uncertainty of long term durability, sustainable research still needed for optimum design methodology to the complicate field conditions. Especially, more intensive research needed about under the cyclic flow condition and fine silty sand base material. In this paper, the filter model test performed under cyclic flow with various boundary conditions (period and frequency of cyclic flow, types of geosynthetic filter material, surcharge etc.).
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), particularly remote monitoring, is an emerging field with great potential to help infrastructure owners obtain more and up-to-date knowledge of their structures. The methodology could provide supplemental information to guide the frequency and extent of visual inspections, and the possible need for maintenance. The instrumentation for a SHM system needs to be developed with longevity and the objectives for the system in mind. Sensors need to be selected for reliability and durability, sited where they provide the maximum information for the objectives, and where they can be accessed and replaced should the need arise over the monitoring period. With the rapid changes now occurring with sensors and software, flexibility needs to be in place to allow the system to be upgraded over time. Damage detection needs to be considered in terms of the type of damage that needs to be detected, informing maintenance requirements, and how detection can be achieved. Current vibration analysis techniques appear not yet to have achieved the necessary sensitivity for that purpose. Societal factors will influence the design of a SHM system in terms of the sophistication of the instrumentation and methodology employed.
The wooden pagoda was first appeared in about late 4th century in Korea. And between the late 6th century and the eary 7th centry, the multistoried wooden pagoda was replaced with the stone pagodas, in order to improve their stability and durability. In Three-kingdom and Unificated-Silla period, there are two types of stone stupas in Korea. The one is Paekche(百濟)style, and the other is Silla(新羅) style stone pagoda. These two styles are basically different in each part like podium, roof stone, body stone, structure and the others. Two types of stupas are distributed in two regions which devided into the East(Silla territory) and West(Paekche territory) in the Korean peninsular. The origin of the Korean stone pagoda can be traced to the Paekche dynasty and Silla dynasty. The former were the result of the careful study of their skillful wooden pagodas, where the latter were actualy originated from copying their sundried brick pagodas with stone. Two important pagodas of the primitive stage are the stone pagoda of Miruksa(彌勒寺) temple in Iksan and Bunhwangsa(芬皇寺) temple in Kyungju. These two pagodas are compared with each other in the style of their construction. Silla style have sharp straight lines and short distance between roof stone and eaves. They give us strong as well as intelletural feeling. Howerever, Paekche style has curved lines and dull angles of cutting area of stone, they give us soft feeling.
This study discusses and demonstrates the structural stability of highly ordered Pt patterns formed on a transparent and flexible substrate through the process of nanotransfer printing (nTP). Bending tests comprising approximately 1,000 cycles were conducted for observing Pt line patterns with a width of $1{\mu}m$ formed along the direction of the horizontal (x-axis) and vertical (y-axis) axes ($15mm{\times}15mm$); and adhesion tests were performed with an ultrasonicator for a period greater than ten minutes, to analyze the Pt crossbar patterns. The durability of both types of patterns was systematically analyzed by employing various microscopes. The results show that the Pt line and Pt crossbar patterns obtained through nTP are structurally stable and do not exhibit any cracks, breaks, or damages. These results corroborate that nTP is a promising nanotechnology that can be applied to flexible electronic devices. Furthermore, the multiple patterns obtained through nTP can improve the working performance of flexible devices by providing excellent structural stability.
Under current international investment law clear criteria to determine standards of indirect expropriation are absent. Arbitral tribunals determine on a case-by-case whether an indirect expropriation has occurred by conducting a fact-based inquiry. However, three common determination standards can be inferred by analyzing prior arbitration cases. The appropriate analytical framework that can be applied to determine whether a state's measure constitutes an indirect expropriation is as follows. i) the degree of economic invasion of the state's action into the foreign investor's property rights and durability of the period, ii) interference with the foreign investor's distinct and reasonable investment-backed expectations, and iii) the nature, purpose and character of the state's measure. Therefore, it is necessary to fully acknowledge and to utilize strategically this determination standard. However, derived standards cannot be applied to all disputes en masse. So, it is desirable to exclude ambiguity and to clearly define the determination standard of indirect expropriation in investment agreements, since arbitral tribunals can apply different determination standards on a case-by-case basis. And, based on the discussions until now, more developed standards and direction in response to demand should be established through consistent analysis and review of precedents related to indirect expropriation. Lastly, This study is expected to be a useful guideline to prepare a necessary countermeasure to prevent dispute related to indirect expropriation beforehand or in case of dispute occurrence.
