  • In this paper, a performance comparison between CLOS(Command to Line-of-Sight) guidance law and PN(Proportional Navigation) guidance law is made, based on a short range surface-to-air missile simulation program called KNUCLOS. This simulation program has a full nonlinear aerodynamic missile model, a tracker model for missile and target, and target model. According to the simulation results, the PN guidance law has a better performance than CLOS guidance law under various target speed.

  • For improving performance of heat pump system, researcher has adapted 2-stage economizer cycle and developed a high-efficiency screw compressor, new working medium(non-azeotropic mixed refrigerant) and counterflow heat exchangers operating with a small temperature difference. Target of this study is development of high performance heat pump system with the 2-stage economizer system using the non-azeotropic mixed refrigerant. For the purpose of excuting target, we constucted computer simulation programs, compared and examed various types of cycle and non-azeotropic mixture. Based on the results from computer simulation we selected optimum mixtures and reflected design and production process of performance test equipment with the 1-stage econmizer system. In order to accomplish the final target, design and production of the 2-stage economizer system, we performed pilot test using the 1-stage economizer performance test system and finally design and production of the 2-stage economizer system.

  • The template matching method is used as a simple method to track objects or patterns that we want to search for in the input image data from image sensors. It recognizes a segment with the highest correlation as a target. The concept of this method is similar to that of SNF (Strongest Neighbor Filter) that regards the measurement with the highest signal intensity as target-originated among other measurements. The SNF assumes that the strongest neighbor (SN) measurement in the validation gate originates from the target of interest and the SNF utilizes the SN in the update step of a standard Kalman filter (SKF). The SNF is widely used along with the nearest neighbor filter (NNF), due to computational simplicity in spite of its inconsistency of handling the SN as if it is the true target. Probabilistic Strongest Neighbor Filter for m validated measurements (PSNF-m) accounts for the probability that the SN in the validation gate originates from the target while the SNF assumes at any time that the SN measurement is target-originated. It is known that the PSNF-m is superior to the SNF in performance at a cost of increased computational load. In this paper, we suggest an image tracking algorithm that combines the template matching and the PSNF-m to estimate the states of a tracked target. Computer simulation results are included to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm in comparison with other algorithms.

  • Using bearing measurement only, target motion state is not directly obtained so that TMA (Target Motion Analysis) is needed for this situation. TMA is a nonlinear estimation technique used in passive SONAR systems. Also it is the one of important techniques for underwater combat management systems. TMA can be divided to two parts: batch estimation and sequential estimation. It is preferable to use sequential estimation for reducing computational load as well as adaptively to target maneuvers, batch estimation is still required to attain target initial state vector for convergence of sequential estimation. Selection of batch time interval which depends on observability is critical in TMA performance. Batch estimation in general utilizes predetermined batch time interval. In this paper, we propose a new method called the BTIS (Batch Time Interval and Initial State Estimation). The proposed BTIS estimates target initial status and determines the batch time interval sequentially by using a bank of GMM-TS (Gaussian Mixture Measurement-Track Splitting) filters. The performance of the proposal method is verified by a Monte Carlo simulation study.

  • The HANARO, multi-purpose research reactor, 30 MWth open-tank-in-pool type, is under normal operation since it reached the initial critical in February 1995. The HANARO is used for fuel performance tests, radio isotope productions, reactor material performance tests, silicone semiconductor productions and etc. Specially, the HANARO is planning to produce a fission moly-99 of radio isotopes, a mother nuclide of Tc-99m, a medical isotope and is under developing a target handling tool for loading and unloading those at a flow tube (OR-5). The target should be sufficiently cooled in the flow tube without an interference with the cooling of the others and an induction of extremely vibration. This topic is described an analectic analysis for the cooling characteristics of the fission moly-99 target to find the minimum cooling water. It was confirmed through the analysis results that the minimum cooling water, about 2.717 kg/s flew through the flow tube under the worst case that the guide tube got no perforating holes for cooling water to pass through the holes and that the target was safely cooled under about seventy percent (70%) of the maximum allowable temperature of the target.

  • Proximity sensor networks are aimed at estimation kinematic state of target using estimated position of the target by each sensor node or target parameter. To analyze the kinematic state of target, traditional approaches require detections on multiple sensors, very large number of sensors to achieve acceptable performance. In this paper, we propose a novel method which can estimate predicted position of the underwater target using minimum proximity sensor with bearing information to this problem. The proposed algorithm was verified performance through simulation.

  • Transfer Path Analysis (TPA) is commonly used, by car makers and parts suppliers, analysis process to root the cause of NVH problems. In general, TPA is an analyzing technique to find the contributing factors of noise/vibration problems, and their transfer path in vehicle. However, not only TPA is used to analyze the source of NVH problems but also is used to predict NVH performance prior to the proto vehicle, or to set the development target for next new vehicle. Automotive parts manufacturing companies have to set NVH performance target when developing new systems just as car makers have NVH target set for new vehicle. Nevertheless, most of components are currently being developed based on subjective evaluation without an objective target. To judge the suitability of using TPA to set NVH target of electric parking brake, this research analyzed the transfer path by setting them in two points of view; Chassis Module and Electric Parking Brake, and comparing the measured value and calculated value. From this result, NVH target of electric parking brake will be approached in level of vehicle, system and component.

  • In this paper, we proposed a smart target detection system that detects and recognizes a designated target to provide relative motion information when performing a target detection mission of a drone. The proposed system focused on developing an algorithm that can secure adequate accuracy (i.e. mAP, IoU) and high real-time at the same time. The proposed system showed an accuracy of close to 1.0 after 100k learning of the Google Inception V2 deep learning model, and the inference speed was about 60-80[Hz] when using a high-performance laptop based on the real-time performance Nvidia GTX 2070 Max-Q. The proposed smart target detection system will be operated like a drone and will be helpful in successfully performing surveillance and reconnaissance missions by automatically recognizing the target using computer image processing and following the target.

  • Measurement noise variance of the radar is one of the main inputs of a state estimator of surveillance data processing system for air traffic control and has influences on the accuracy performance of maneuvering target tracking. A method is presented of estimating measurement noise variances every frame of target tracking using likelihood functions of multiple IMM filter. The results by running of Monte Carlo simulation show that variances are estimated within 5% of errors compared with true values and the tracking accuracy performance is improved.

  • In this paper, we analysed a performance signal to noise ratio about pulse, integration coherent, and integration non coherent system in radar system. It compared existing with proposal method in order to estimation two target direction of arrival. Generally, radar system radiate pulse wave in order to decreasing distortion of return wave and transmission wave. We analysed the performance integration coherent and integration non coherent. Integration coherent is processing system before doing envelop detection, and integration non coherent is processing system after doing envelop detection. Through simulation, we analysed a performance signal to noise ratio to estimation two target range detection and estimated target direction of arrival. We showed that integration coherent system is the most good performance.
