  • In this paper, the effective design method of the predictive controller using fuzzy neural networks(FNNs) is presented for the Intelligent control of chaotic nonlinear systems. In our design method of controller, predictor parameters are tuned by the error value between the actual output of a chaotic nonlinear system and that of a fuzzy neural network model. And the parameters of predictive controller using fuzzy neural network are tuned by the gradient descent method which uses control error value between the actual output of a chaotic nonlinear system and the reference signal. In order to evaluate the performance of our controller, it is applied to the Duffing system which are the representative continuous-time chaotic nonlinear systems and the Henon system which are representative discrete-time chaotic nonlinear systems.

  • Recently, an automatic crane control system is required with high speed and rapid transportation. Therefore, when container is transferred from the initial coordinate to the finial coordinate, the container paths should be built in terms of the least time and without sway. Therefore, we calculated the anti-collision path for avoiding collision in its movement to the finial coordinate in this paper. And we constructed the neural network predictive two degree of freedom PID controller to control the precise navigation. The proposed predictive control system is composed of the neural network predictor, two degree of freedom PID controller, neural network self-tuner which yields parameters of two degree of freedom PID. We analyzed crane system through simulation, and proved excellency of control performance over the conventional controllers.

A SIMPLE VARIANCE ESTIMATOR IN NONPARAMETRIC REGRESSION MODELS WITH MULTIVARIATE PREDICTORS

  • In this paper we propose a simple and computationally attractive difference-based variance estimator in nonparametric regression models with multivariate predictors. We show that the estimator achieves $n^{-1/2}$ rate of convergence for regression functions with only a first derivative when d, the dimension of the predictor, is less than or equal to 4. When d > 4, the rate turns out to be $n^{-4/(d+4)}$ under the first derivative condition for the regression functions. A numerical study suggests that the proposed estimator has a good finite sample performance.

  • In this paper, we presented a predictive control technique, which is based on wavelet neural network (WNN), for the control of chaotic systems whose precise mathematical models are not available. The WNN is motivated by both the multilayer feedforward neural network definition and wavelet decomposition. The wavelet theory improves the convergence of neural network. In order to design predictive controller effectively, the WNN is used as the predictor whose parameters are tuned by error between the output of actual plant and the output of WNN. Also the training method for the finding a good WNN model is the Extended Kalman algorithm which updates network parameters to converge to the reference signal during a few iterations. The benefit of EKF training method is that the WNN model can have better accuracy for the unknown plant. Finally, through computer simulations, we confirmed the performance of the proposed control method.

  • This paper describes a method of human sensibility evaluation for pleasant and unpleasant environments. Conditions of the environment are room temperature and humidity. Changing the conditions, 10-channel EEG signals for 4 subjects are collected. Linear predictor coefficients of the recorded EEGs are extracted as the feature parameter of human sensibility. A neural network-based human sensibility estimation algorithm is developed. The developed algorithm showed good performance in the pleasantness evaluation. The neural network output produced accurate states of pleasantness sensibility. Subject-independent test showed similar results with subject-dependent test.

Stochastic precipitation modeling based on Korean historical data

  • Stochastic weather generators are commonly used to simulate time series of daily weather, especially precipitation amount. Recently, a generalized linear model (GLM) has been proposed as a convenient approach to fitting these weather generators. In this paper, a stochastic weather generator is considered to model the time series of daily precipitation at Seoul in South Korea. As a covariate, global temperature is introduced to relate long-term temporal scale predictor to short-term temporal predictands. One of the limitations of stochastic weather generators is a marked tendency to underestimate the observed interannual variance of monthly, seasonal, or annual total precipitation. To reduce this phenomenon, we incorporate time series of seasonal total precipitation in the GLM weather generator as covariates. It is veri ed that the addition of these covariates does not distort the performance of the weather generator in other respects.

  • When the teleoperated system has a signal transmission time delay between slave and control system , the system stability as well as the position tracking and the force reflecting performances are likely to be deteriorated. This paper proposed a bilateral control scheme and a controller design method for the teleoperated control systems with a signal transmission time delay. Long-Term Forecasting by Wavelet-Based Filter Bank Selections and Its Application

  • Long-term forecasting of seasonal time series is critical in many applications such as planning business strategies and resolving possible problems of a business company. Unlike the traditional approach that depends solely on dynamic models, Li and Hinich (2002) introduced a combination of stochastic dynamic modeling with filter bank approach for forecasting seasonal patterns using highly coherent(High-C) waveforms. We modify the filter selection and forecasting procedure on wavelet domain to be more feasible and compare the resulting predictor with one that obtained from the wavelet variance estimation method. An improvement over other seasonal pattern extraction and forecasting methods based on such as wavelet scalogram, Holt-Winters, and seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average(SARIMA) is shown in terms of the prediction error. The performance of the proposed method is illustrated by a simulation study and an application to the real stock price data.

  • An Interactive grid generation program(KGRID) with graphical user interface(GUI) has been improved. KGRID works on the UNLX environment and GUI has been implemented with OSF/Motif and X Toolkit and the graphics language is Open GL for visualization of the 3D objects. It supports more convenient user environment to generate 2D and 3D multi-block structured grid systems. It provides various useful field grid generation methods, which are the algebraic methods, the elliptic partial differential equations method and the predictor-corrector method. It also supports 3D surface grid generation with NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline) and various stretching functions to control grid points distribution on curves and surfaces. And some menus are added to perform flexible management, for the objects. We generated surface and field grid system about full aircraft configuration using KGRID. The performance and stability of the KGRID is verified through the generation of the grid system about a complex shape.

  • 최근의 스마트폰은 UI 또는 엔터테인먼트의 목적으로 가속도계 및 자세계를 제공하고 있으며 이들 정보를 이용한 게임 등의 엔터테인먼트 어플리케이션은 물론 좌표 등의 위치 정보를 통한 위치기반 서비스도 이미 제공중이다. 늘어가는 위치정보 서비스 내에서의 공간정보 질의회수 및 예측회수 증가는 장차 위치정보 서비스 제공에 있어 서버측 인프라에 부하를 증대시킬 수 있다. 이에 이들 하드웨어가 제공하는 가속도 및 방위각을 활용하여 속도 및 진행방향 정보를 생성하고 이를 위치예측기에 활용하여 연산 속도 및 예측의 정확성 등의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 제시한다.
