  • To increase the chance of the success of project, it is necessary to identify the important factors influencing the performance of project. Cognitive map has been used for analysing by investigating causal links among relevant factors. A fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) is an extension of a cognitive map with the additional capability of representing feedback through weighted causal links. Project performance is influenced by several factors such as input resources, possibility of achievement, concern of others and so on. The object of this paper is to develop the project success model of enterprise using a fuzzy cognitive map approach to investigate the degree of causal relationship between project performance and these factors.

  • In this paper, performance of a turbo-coded OFDM system is analyzed and simulated in a power line communication channel. Since the power line communication system typically operates in a hostile environment, turbo code has been employed to enhance reliability of transmitted data. The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error probability. As turbo decoding algorithms, MAP (maximum a posteriori), Max-Log-MAP, and SOVA (soft decision viterbi output) algorithms are chosen and their performances are compared. From simulation results, it is demonstrated that Max-Log-MAP algorithm is promising in terms of performance and complexity. It is shown that performance is improved 3dB by increasing the number of iterations, 2 to 8, and interleaver length of a turbo encoder, 100 to 5000. The results in this paper can be applied to OFDM-based high-speed power line communication systems.

  • The purpose of this study was to test the applicability of the HSPEXP model performance criteria for calibrating hydrologic parameters of HSPF. Baran watershed, located at Whasung city, was selected as a study watershed in this study. Input data for the HSPF model were obtained from the digital elevation map, landuse map, soil map and others. Water flow data from 1996 to 2000 was used for calibration and from 2002 to 2007 was for validation. Using the HSPEXP decision-support software, hydrology parameters were adjusted based on total volume, then low flows, storm flows, and finally seasonal flows. Suggested criteria for each model performance variables were referenced from the previous research. For the calibration period, all the HSPEXP model performance criteria were satisfied while two criteria were slightly violated for the validation period.

  • The Hierarchical Mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) has been proposed to accommodate frequent mobility of the Mobile Node. HMIPv6 can effectively reduce the signaling overhead and latency. However, it has a problem that the registration of a mobile node concentrates on the furthest MAP(Mobility Anchor Point) when the mobile node enters into a new domain. This paper proposes a new load distribution mechanism by using the concept of Nash Bargaining Solution. The main advantage of the proposed scheme can prevent load concentration from being registered to the specified MAP based on the weight value according to the available resource-ratio of a MAP. With a simulation study, the proposed scheme can improve network performance under widely diverse traffic load intensities.

  • In this paper, simulations are performed using standards proposed by 3GPP and 3GPP2. From the view point of performance analysis based on Turbo code specification, performance of Turbo code in AWGN, proposed by 3GPP, is compared. To make comparison, experimental result of Turbo code that is performed on one of the many block sizes proposed by 3GPP2 in Rayleigh fading channel, is provided. Performance of Turbo decoders using Max_Log MAP and Log MAP are compared.

  • Map building is essential to a mobile robot navigation system. Localization and path planning methods depend on map building strategies. A topological map is commonly constructed using the GVG(Generalized Voronoi Graph). The advantage of the GVG based topological map is compactness. But the GVG method have many difficulties because it consists of collision-free path. In this paper, we proposed an extended map building method, the AVG (Areal Voronoi Graph) based topological map. The AVG based topological map consists of collision-free area. This feature can improve map building, localization and path planning performance.

  • This paper proposes an effective method to select MIP-Map level of texture images for ray-traced texture mapping. This MIP-Map level selection method requires only the total length of intersected ray. By supporting MIP-Map for texture mapping, we can reduce the texture aliasing effects, while our approach decreases rendering performance very slightly.

  • The service handling the map data in the mobile device including navigation, LBS, Telematics, and etc., becomes various. The size of map data which is stored and managed in the mobile device is growing and reaches in several GB. The conventional navigation system has used the read-only PSF (physical storage format) in order to enhance the performance of system by maximum in the mobile device which has limited resources. So though a little part of the map data is changed the whole data must be updated. In general, it takes several ten minutes to write the 2 GB map data to a flash memory of mobile device. Therefore, we have developed the mobile spatial DBMS (database management system) to solve the problem which is that the partial map data couldn't be updated in the conventional navigation system. And we suggest the policy to guarantee the performance of the navigation system which is implemented using the spatial mobile DBMS and verify this by experiment.
