We propose a selection procedure of principal components in principal component regression. Our method selects principal components using variable selection procedures instead of a small subset of major principal components in principal component regression. Our procedure consists of two steps to improve estimation and prediction. First, we reduce the number of principal components using the conventional principal component regression to yield the set of candidate principal components and then select principal components among the candidate set using sparse regression techniques. The performance of our proposals is demonstrated numerically and compared with the typical dimension reduction approaches (including principal component regression and partial least square regression) using synthetic and real datasets.
High speed probe for measurement of sin91e flux quantum circuits is comprised of coaxial cables and microstrip lines in order to carry high speed signals without loss. For the impedance matching between coaxial cable and microstrip line, we have determined the dimension of the microstrip line with 50${\Omega}$ impedance by simulation and then have investigated the effect of line width and cross-sectional shape of signal line, dielectric material, thickness of soldering lead at the coaxial-to-microstrip transition Point, and the an91c between dielectric material and end part of the signal line on the characteristics of signal transmission of the microstrip line. From the simulation, we have found that these all parameter's had influenced on the characteristic of signal transmission on the microstrip line and should be reflected in fabricating high speed probe, We have also determined the dimension of coplanar waveguide to fabricate testing sample for performance test of high speed probe.

Two-stage turbocharging is an important way to raise engine power density, to realize energy saving and emission reducing. At present, turbine matching of two-stage turbocharger is based on MAP of turbine. The matching method does not take the effect of turbines' interaction into consideration, assuming that flow at high pressure turbine outlet and low pressure turbine inlet is uniform. Actually, there is swirl flow at outlet of high pressure turbine, and the swirl flow will influence performance of low pressure turbine which influencing performance of engine further. Three-dimension models of turbines with two-stage turbocharger were built in this paper. Based on the turbine models, mechanism of swirl flow at high pressure turbine outlet influencing low pressure turbine performance was studied and a two-stage radial counter-rotation turbine system was raised. Mechanisms of the influence of counter-rotation turbine system acting on low-pressure turbine were studied using simulation method. The research result proved that in condition of small turbine flow rate corresponding to engine low-speed working condition, counter-rotation turbine system can effectively decrease the influence of swirl flow at high pressure turbine outlet imposing on low pressure turbine and increases efficiency of the low-pressure turbine, furthermore increases the low-speed performance of the engine.

Jettability analysis using one-dimensional(1D) lumped parameter model has been investigated to design the industrial inkjet head with proper drop velocity and drop volume. By simplifying the inkjet head system into an equivalent electrical circuit, lumped model has been developed. Performance of the lumped model is verified by the comparison between measured results of droplet velocity and ejection volume and predicted value. Also, the jetting performance of an inkjet head is characterized by varying the design parameter and driving condition. As a result, simulation results shows good agreement with the experimentally measured value. The developed lumped model enables to easily understand the effect of dimension change and predict the jetting performance.

This paper presents leakage and performance characteristics of a tip-seal type scroll compressor, The performance of a scroll compressor is strongly dependent on the leak age across the compression pockets. However, literature for leakage characteristics of the tip seal type scroll compressor is very limited due to complex sealing mechanism. In the present study, a simulation study was executed to investigate the tip-seal type scroll compressor by considering leakages passing through flank and tip clearance. As a result, the leakage phenomena of the tip seal type scroll compressor as a function of discharge pressure, tip clearance, dimension of the tip seal were analyzed. Effects of leakage on the performance of the compressor were also clarified.
Companies are recently emphasizing social capital that is formed by the network and trust among organization members to secure continuous competitive edge. Social capital induces the members' adaptation and immersion through the interactions with multidimensional factors within an organization, and contributes to increasing an organization's performance by causing cooperative behaviors as a passage of communications and participation. This study analyzed the influence of social capital and organizational support recognition formed in an organization on the turnover intention, and examined the moderating effect of organizational support recognition in the relationship between social capital and turnover intention. To achieve the purpose, this research conducted a survey on small and medium sized manufacturing companies in Busan and Gyeongnam and performed an empirical analysis using hierarchical regression analysis. According to the empirical analysis, the structural and relational dimensions of social capital had a negative (-) influence on the turnover intention. Especially, the relational dimension had a huge influence on the turnover intention, showing that it is important to form trust among an organization's members through their interactions. Second, organizational support recognition also had a negative (-) influence on the turnover intention, demonstrating that attention and complete support at an organizational dimension were needed for individual members. Third, organizational support recognition appeared to mediate the relationship between social capital and the turnover intention. The higher the organizational support recognition was, the lower the negative (-) influence of the relational dimension of social capital on the turnover intention was. Based on these results, this paper discussed the theoretical and practical implications of this research as well as future assignments.
Many domestic users complain about severe pain to the waist, neck, and shoulder as well as work performance because the domestic chair design was developed with western anthropometry dimension and design criteria. Ergonomic design standards are needed for office chair design to reduce stress and poor physical posture for various user body types. In this study, we have suggested design dimensions recommended from previous studies and Korean anthropometry data. We also have reviewed users' preference dimension through measured subjects and analyzed differences between users' preference dimension and the previous design criteria to verify physical appropriateness. We evaluated general office chairs and adjustable chairs which can adjust to fit each person. we also analyzed how each design dimension was reached and affected the human body by evaluation of physical discomfort and comfort. We have found seat height is very important in a workstation. If the seat height is high, it effects the thigh. If width, height, and angle of the backrest are wrong, fatigue to the shoulder, neck, and waist, etc.. As a result of this experiment, we suggested that the height of a seat for Koreans be 425mm for the fixed type and 365-484mm for the adjustable type. Also other design recommendations were suggested in the thesis. In conclusion, our research will be very important in the database because it provides adjustable ranges to fit user's body types in the various design fields.

This paper presents the conceptual framework for estimating and predicting system's susceptibility to failure as function of condition parameter value which is representing the current status of performance measure using on-line performance reliability. The performance of such system depends on one parameter with a probability distribution that degrades with time gracefully. Performance reliability represents the probability that physical performance will remain satisfactory over a finite period of time or usage cycles in the future. An empirical physical performance function is constructed to incorporate explanatory variables (operating and environmental conditions) over a time or usage dimension. This function enables one to model device performance and the associated classical reliability measures simultaneously, in the performance domain and time domain. The conditional performance reliability structure developed represents a tool to predict system performance over time or usage for next usage period. By enabling such a framework, it can bring us more efficient planning and execution in system's operation control as well as maintenance to reduce costs and/or increase profits.

The objective of this study is to present a resistance performance map developed using the dimension parameters of a bilge keel appendage attached to a fishing vessel using CFD. The dimension parameters consist of three length and breadth measures of a bilge keel appendage from nine selected cases. The size of a bilge keel attached to an existing ship should be 90 % of the ship length and 5 % of the ship breadth. In this study, bilge keels with a length of 63 %, 77 % and 90 % and a breadth of 5 %, 7 % and 9 % were considered based on ship length and breadth. The effective power in each of the nine cases was predicted using CFD. Based on results from an existing ship, effective power in the case with the shortest length and longest breath was reduced by 0.3 %. The case with the longest length and breadth showed an increase in effective power of 1.7 %. The case with the shortest length and breadth showed a decrease in effective power of 2.3 %. The proposed map can be utilized to select dimensions according to the sailing and work patterns of fishing vessels from the perspective of resistance performance.
In high dimensional data, most of clustering algorithms tend to degrade the performance rapidly because of nature of sparsity and amount of noise. Recently, partial dimensional clustering algorithms have been studied, which have good performance in clustering. These algorithms select the dimensional data closely related to clustering but discard the dimensional data which are not directly related to clustering in entire dimensional data. However, the traditional algorithms have some problems. At first, the algorithms employ grid based techniques but the large amount of grids make worse the performance of algorithm in terms of computational time and memory space. Secondly, the algorithms explore dimensions related to clustering using k-medoid but it is very difficult to determine the best quality of k-medoids in large amount of high dimensional data. In this paper, we propose an efficient partial dimensional clustering algorithm which is called CLIP. CLIP explores dense regions for cluster on a certain dimension. Then, the algorithm probes dense regions on a next dimension. dependent on the dense regions of the explored dimension using incremental projection. CLIP repeats these probing work in all dimensions. Clustering by Incremental projection can prune the search space largely and reduce the computational time considerably. We evaluate the performance(efficiency, effectiveness and accuracy, etc.) of the proposed algorithm compared with other algorithms using common synthetic data.
