Objectives The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between degenerative changes in brain [i.e., global cortical atrophy (GCA), medial temporal atrophy (MTA), white matter hyperintensities (WMH)] and neurocognitive dysfunction in Korean patients with Alzheimer's disease. Methods A total of 62 elderly subjects diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease were included in this study. The degenerative changes in brain MRI were rated with standardized visual rating scales (GCA or global cortical atrophy, MTA or medial temporal atrophy, and Fazekas scales) and the subjects were divided into two groups according to the degree of degeneration for each scale. Cognitive function was evaluated with Korean version of the Consortium to Establish a Registry for Alzheimer's Disease (CERAD-K) and several clinical features, including apolipoprotein E ${\varepsilon}4$ status, lipid profile and thyroid hormones, were also examined. Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were performed to analyze the relationship between the degree of cerebral degeneration and neurocognitive functions. Results Demographic and clinical features, except for the age, did not show any significant difference between the two groups divided according to the degree of cerebral degenerative changes. However, higher degree of GCA was shown to be associated with poorer performance in verbal fluency test, word list recall test, and word list recognition test. Higher degree of MTA was shown to be associated with poorer performance in Mini-Mental State Examination in the Korean Version of CERAD Assessment Packet (MMSE-KC), word list recognition test and construction praxis recall test. Higher degree of white matter hyperintensities was shown to be associated with poorer performance in MMSE-KC. Conclusions Our results suggest that severe brain degeneration shown in MRI is associated with significantly poorer performance in neurocognitive tests in patients with Alzheimer's disease. Moreover, the degree of GCA, MTA and white matter hyperintensities, represented by scores from different visual rating scales, seems to affect certain neurocognitive domains each, which would provide useful information in clinical settings.

In this paper, the cycle performance analysis for condensation and evaporation capacity, total work and efficiency of ocean thermal energy conversion power system using R744 ($CO_2$) is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of this system. The operating parameters considered in this study include superheating and subcooling degree, evaporation and condensation temperature, pump and turbine efficiency. The main results were summarized as follows : The evaporation capacity of R744 increases with superheating and subcooling degree, but decreases with the increasing condensation temperature. The total work increases with superheating and subcooling degree of R744, but decreases with the increasing evaporating temperature. And, the efficiency increases with subcooling and superheating degree, but decreases with the increasing condensation temperature. Therefore, superheating and subcooling degree, evaporation and condensation temperature and pump and turbine efficiency of R744 OTEC power system have an effect on the evaporation and condensation capacity, total work and efficiency of this system. With a thorough grasp of these effect, it is necessary to design the OTEC power cycle using R744.

In this paper, we propose a set of robustness indicators for immersive 360-degree video. With the full-fledged service of mobile carriers' 5G networks, it is possible to use large-capacity, immersive 360-degree videos at high speed anytime, anywhere. Since it can be illegally distributed in web-hard and torrents through DRM dismantling and various video modifications, however, evaluation indicators that can objectively evaluate the filtering performance for copyright protection are required. In this paper, a robustness indicators is proposed that applies the existing 2D Video robustness indicators and considers the projection method and reproduction method, which are the characteristics of Immersive 360-degree Video. The performance evaluation experiment has been carried out for a sample filtering system and it is verified that an excellent recognition rate of 95% or more has been achieved in about 3 second execution time.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive de-interlacing algorithm that is based on the degree of local complexity. The conventional intra field de-interlacing algorithms show the different performance according to the ways which find the edge direction. Furthermore, FDD (Fine Directional De-interlacing) algorithm has the better performance than other algorithms but the computational complexity of FDD algorithm is too high. In order to alleviate these problems, the proposed algorithm selects the most efficient de-interacing algorithm among LA (Line Average), MELA (Modified Edge-based Line Average), and LCID (Low-Complexity Interpolation Method for De-interlacing) algorithms which have low complexity and good performance. The proposed algorithm is trained by the DoLC (Degree of Local Complexity) for selection of the algorithms mentioned above. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm not only has the low complexity but also performs better objective and subjective image quality performances compared with the conventional intra-field methods.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influencing factors of prevention practices against infection exposure among emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in emergency rooms. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 100 EMTs in emergency rooms from June 1 to August 31, 2017. The questionnaire consisted of items concerning the defensive environment for the prevention of infection exposure, perception of preventive behavior, and degree of performance of preventive actions against infection based on a five-point Likert scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$ test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and linear regression. Results: The defensive environment for the prevention of infection exposure was 4.12. The perception of preventive action was 4.71, and the degree of performance of preventive actions against infection was 4.54. There was a significant relationship between the degree of performance of preventive actions against infectious exposures and the degree of perception of preventive behavior(r=.506, p=.01) and prevention of infectious exposure(r=.506, p=.01). The protective environment(B=.360, t=3.236, p=.002) and perceived level (B=.904, t=4.662, p=.000) were influenced by the degree of prevention of infection exposure. Conclusion: It is important to manage the protection environment for infection exposure prevention and to enhance the awareness of infection prevention actions against infection exposure among the EMTs in emergency rooms.
This study analyzes the performance of flipped learning, an offline class method conducted in a degree-linked work-learning parallel system. Training in the work-study parallel system, which is conducted as part of job competency improvement, has thoroughly adhered to the offline method, but in line with COVID-19, unlike before, it is changing in the direction of using the online method more actively. However, educational methods such as flipped learning are not new because the degree-linked operation is applied to the academic system and education method of universities and is practically the same form as general university education. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the educational performance and complementary points of flipped learning, which has recently been expanded in the degree-linked work-study parallel system, considering the characteristics of this system, in which classes are held only on weekends. As a result of statistical analysis based on the survey, some of the outcomes of flipped learning have been confirmed, and in order to increase the performances, it is necessary to continuously seek out specific measures to encourage learning and expand communication between instructors and students.

Ordering is used to reduce the amount of fill-ins in the Cholesky factor of a symmetric positive definite matrix. One of the most efficient ordering methods is the minimum degree ordering algorithm(MDO). In this paper, we provide a few techniques that improve the performance of MDO implemented with the clique storage scheme. First, the absorption of nodes in the cliques is developed which reduces the number of cliques and the amount of storage space required for MDO. Second, we present a modified minimum degree ordering algorithm of which the number of degree updates can be reduced by introducing the lower bounds of degrees. Third, using both the lower and upper bounds of degrees, we develop an approximate minimum degree ordering algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is competitive with the minimum degree ordering algorithm that uses quotient graphs from the points of the ordering time and the nonzeros in the Cholesky factor.

Ordering is used to reduce the amount of fill-ins in the Cholesky factor of an symmetric definite matrix. One of most efficient ordering methods is the minimum degree ordering method. In this paper. we propose the two techniques to improve the performance of the minimum degree ordering which are implemented using clique storage structure. One is node absorption which is a generalized version of clique absorption. The other technique is using the lower bounds of degree to suspend the degree updates of nodes. finally, we provide computational results on the problems on NETLIB. These results show that the proposed techniques reduce the number of degree updates and the computational time considerably.
Luby transform (LT) codes were the first practical rateless erasure codes proposed in the literature. The performances of these codes, which are iteratively decoded using belief propagation algorithms, depend on the degree distribution used to generate the coded symbols. The existence of degree-one coded symbols is essential for the starting and continuation of the decoding process. The absence of a degree-one coded symbol at any instant of an iterative decoding operation results in decoding failure. To alleviate this problem, we proposed a method used in the absence of a degree-one code symbol to overcome a stuck decoding operation and its continuation. The simulation results show that the proposed approach provides a better performance than a conventional LT code and memory-based robust soliton distributed LT code, as well as that of a Gaussian elimination assisted LT code, particularly for short data lengths.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of performance of TB control manpower in Korea and to identify the affecting factors associated with it. Methods: This study employed a quantitative observational with cross-sectional design and the subjects were consisted of 189 TB (Tuberculosis) control manpower who were working in both community health centers and private hospitals. Variables included in this study were demographic, social, work-related characteristics, aqhnd self-efficacy. A reliability of the instrument for the performance was Cronbach's ${\alpha}$=.91. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression using SPSS (19th version). Results: The mean value of the degree of work-related performance of TB control manpower was $4.4{\pm}0.49$9 and it was higher than those of general nurses working in any other health care departments. The mean differences in the degree of work-related performance were in self-efficacy, workplace, the number of full charge manpower in TB, the number of participation in in-depth education, and the willingness to job maintenance. In multiple regression analysis, factors associated with TB control manpower' work-related performance were self-efficacy (${\beta}$=.164, p=.025), workplace (${\beta}$=-.186, p=.023), the number of participation in in-depth education(${\beta}$=.339, p<.002), and the willingness to job maintenance (${\beta}$=-.157, p=.036). Conclusion: Results of this study showed that work-related performances of manpower working in private hospital were higher than those of manpower in public health centers. So, it is necessary to enhance nation's active intervention to improve effectiveness and reduction of risk factors in TB policy.
