Purpose: The purposes of this study were to identify the scores of perceived job stress, health perception and health promoting life style in community health nurses and to define the correlations of three variables. Method: The data were collected by 68 subjects, using the self-reported questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and pearson correlation coefficient. Result: The mean score of job stress was $3.19({\pm}.60)$, health perception scale was $3.04({\pm}.49)$ and health promoting life style profile was $2.49({\pm}.30)$. The relationship among job stress, health perception and health promoting life style were not statistically significant. The relationships between age, overloading job, knowledge & skill deficit and problem of interpersonal relationship were statistically significant. The relationship between religion and problem of interpersonal relationship was statistically significant. The relationships between single of marital status, knowledge & skill deficit and problem of interpersonal relationship were statistically significant. The relationship between career and stress management was statistically significant. Conclusion: These results suggested that health promotion program for community health nurses to reduce job stress, promoting health promoting life style should be carefully developed so as to provide better quality of health care services to the community people.
This is a descriptive research study aimed to investigate the relationship between health promoting behaviors, and some factors such as family function, health perception, and self - efficacy of nursing college students and identify the factors affecting health promoting behaviors. Results showed that family function, health perception, and self - efficacy were correlated with health promoting behaviors. Regression analysis showed that family function, health perception, and self - efficacy seemed to explain 37.7% of health promoting behaviors. Thus, as family function, health perception, and self-efficacy are important factors that affect health promoting behaviors of nursing college students, it is necessary to develop a health education program considering family function, health perception, and self-efficacy to promote desirable health promoting behaviors. In the follow-up study, it is necessary to expand the study subjects and the results of such studies should be applied to the development of programs aimed at promoting the health of nursing college students, and further studies should be conducted to verify the effectiveness of those programs.
Purpose: This study was conducted to find out interrelation of health behavior and related variables to provide basic data for an effective health promotion for the taxi-divers. Methods: 293 male taxi-drivers from 2 cities in Korea participated in this study. The data were collected using questionnaires from April 17th to Jun 3rd, 2006, and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. Results: There were statistically significant differences according to monthly income, past illness or surgery, current disease or medication, frequency of fright on daily driving (FFDD), driving fatigue, working style, social support in health status; current disease or medication, FFDD, driving fatigue, duty shift, social support in health perception; body mass index (BMI), FFDD, driving fatigue, intention of changing job, social support in health behavior. Social support, health status, health perception, and health behavior were significantly correlated with one another. The multiple regression analysis showed that health perception (17.8%), BMI (6.8%), intention of changing job (5.7%), and driving fatigue (4.2%) explained the 34.5% variance of health behavior. And the 22.6% of variance of health perception was explained by social support (12.2%), health status (6.9%), and duty shift (3.2%). Conclusions: To promote the taxi-drivers' health, nursing intervention strategies unique for them should consider health behavior and affecting factors.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Taste perception is influenced by both nutritional factors and psychological factors. This study was undertaken to measure the 4 basic taste perceptions, nutrient intake, and mental health, and to examine the factors that affect insensitive taste perception in young Japanese women. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Young women in their late teens and twenties were enrolled as subjects. Taste perception was measured by applying the filter-paper disc method over areas of the chorda tympani nerve. Nutritional status was evaluated using brief, self-administered diet history questionnaires. The index of nutritional status was based on the 2015 Japanese dietary reference intakes. Mental health was assessed using the Japanese translation of the Profile of Mood States short version. This study was approved by the ethical committee at Osaka University. RESULTS: The normal taste perception group (four basic tastes [sweet, salty, sour, and bitter] identified as normal taste perception) comprised 55.4% of the subjects, while the abnormal taste perception group (more than 1 abnormal taste perception was perceived, regardless of flavor) comprised 44.6% of the subjects. There were no significant differences in nutrient intake (except manganese) and mental health between the normal and abnormal taste perception groups. Subjects who took 5 mg to less than 7.1 mg zinc per day were at significantly decreased risk of insensitive taste perception compared to subjects who consumed less than 5 mg zinc per day [Regression coefficient 0.831, 95% confidence interval 0.694-0.996]. CONCLUSION: The present results suggest that insensitive taste perception could be associated with zinc deficiency in young women in their late teens and twenties.
The purpose of this study was examine the determinants of highschool students' health behavior. A convenient sample of 2nd grade highschool students (N=638) responded to self-report questionnaires. The IMCHB was then tested with data using SAS program by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, regression. The results were as follows 1. Health behaviors were found to be type of school specific. 2. From the general highschool's model, student's health affected health perception and mother's health and father's education affected self esteem among a set of background variables. Health perception and self-esteem are related to health behaviors. 16.8% of the varience in regular highschool student's health behavior are explained by health perception and self-esteem. 3. From the vocational highschool's model, 20.2% of health behavior varience was explained by self-esteem. Mothers' education, health perception and self esteem explained internal motivation. Student's health, internal motivation and self-esteem explained health perception. The results indicated that there was a relatively poor fit of the IMCHB to the highschool students' data.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the emergency-room nurse's perception and performance about the protection behavior of the consumer health information. Method: The participants were 191 emergency-room nurses in secondary, tertiary medical center nationally. The data were analyzed by SPSS 12.0 program. Result: First, the total average scores of the degree of the perception and performance by emergencyroom nurses on protection behavior of the consumer health information were $4.24{\pm}0.30$ and $3.51{\pm}0.26$. Second, the degree of the perception and performance on protection behavior of the consumer health information was heavily dependent on the following general characteristics of the participants: age, nurse position, career, and education experience on protection behavior of the consumer health information. Third, there was a positive correlation between the degree of perception and performance about the protection behavior of the consumer health information. Conclusions: The results showed the statistically significant partial correlation between the degree of perception and performance. Therefore, it is suggested to apply the concrete education program to enhance the perception in order to improve the performance.
Objectives: This study examined the association between dietary behaviors and perceived health status among Korean adolescents from multicultural families. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 2,459 Korean adolescents from multicultural families (aged 13 ~ 18 years) who participated in the 2017 ~ 2019 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Surveys. Information on the sociodemographic variables, dietary behaviors, and lifestyle variables was self-reported using a web-based questionnaire. The dietary behaviors analyzed in this study were the breakfast and food intake frequencies, including fruit, vegetable, milk, fast food, carbonated drink, sweet drink, and high caffeine/energy drinks. The adolescents' health perception was self-rated as healthy, average, or unhealthy. The dietary behaviors associated with health perception were examined using a multiple logistic regression after adjusting for the confounding variables. Results: In this study population, 7.6% of adolescents perceived their health status as unhealthy, and 25.4% perceived it as average. The adolescents who were girls, middle school students, and in households with a low economic status showed significantly higher percentages of poor health perception (P-values < 0.001). Skipping breakfast was significantly associated with a negative health perception. Compared to the adolescents who consumed fruits every day, those who did not consume fruits during the previous week showed a higher odd ratio (OR) for a negative health perception [OR = 2.29, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.32-3.97]. The adolescents who frequently consumed carbonated drinks (≥ 5 times/week) perceived their health status as unhealthy relative to those who did not consume carbonated drinks (OR = 2.15, 95% CI = 1.25-3.71). Skipping breakfast was significantly associated with an increased OR for a negative health perception in girls but not in boys. Compared to adolescents with a normal weight, those with overweight/obesity (OR = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.21-2.52) and underweight (OR = 2.19, 95% CI = 1.25-3.82) showed higher ORs for negative health perception. Positive associations of overweight/obesity and underweight with negative health perception were observed in boys but not in girls. Conclusions: Dietary behaviors and weight status were associated with the health perception in Korean adolescents from multicultural families. These findings suggest that nutrition interventions on breakfast intake and healthy food choices for this population might effectively improve their weight and perceived health status.
Objectives : This study aimed to improve school health program by investigation of several variables through educational diagnostic factors which influence the level of subjective oral health perception and DMFT of students on the basis of PRECEDE model. Methods : A total of 286 high school students in Busan completed the self-reported questionnaire from September 3 to 28 in 2012. Results : 1. Social and epidemiologic diagnosis suggested that the level of subjective oral health perception of male students was not better than that of female students and DMFT number of the male was more than that of the female(p<0.001)(p<0.001). 2. Oral health diagnosis indicated that once a day tooth brushing group showed lower level of oral health perception(p<0.001) and high DMFT number(p<0.001). 3. Predisposing factor of educational diagnosis implied that more than 4 times a day snack intake group and sweet diet and soda friendly group showed lower level of oral health perception and high DMFT number(p<0.001). 4. Tooth brushing of the reinforcing factors had the most important effect on the level of oral health perception and the number of dental caries. Daily snack intake was the most important effect on DMFT number. Conclusions : The informed consent from each family was the important factor in implementing PRECEDE model. School health program improved oral health care. Oral health program can correct the risk oral health behavior in children and adolescents.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the oral health impact profile (OHIP) in the industrial accident injury patients, and the effect of subjective perception and attitude of oral health on the oral health-related quality of life in industrial injury patients. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 496 industrial accident injury patients from October 29 to November 30, 2013. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver 20.0 program for chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results : The OHIP-14 was higher oral health-related quality of life in young people, women, highly educated persons, and those having high income and frequent scaling service. The subjective perception and attitude of oral health was closely correlated to the OHIP-14. The factors influencing on the oral health-related quality of life were the subjective perception and attitude toward oral health. Conclusions : It is necessary to emphasize the oral health promotion program for industrial injury patients. The government should pay more attention to the policy for the improvement of the oral health of industrial accident injury patients in the future.

The purpose of this study was to verify prprioception perception and compare between collegiate golfers and non-golfers using tilting platform. Thirty golfers and twenty-eight non-golfers were participated. All participants were performed perception test on the tilting platform. Frequency analysis was performed using SPSS(ver. 24.0) to determine the perception response according to the grade, and performed using independent t-test. Most participants were perceived from $1^{\circ}$ to $2^{\circ}$ of slopes and perceived left-right slope than forward-backward slope. Repeated practice such as walking on the uneven ground or standing on sloped ground might help to improve proprioception perception. Future research using a tilting platform will be to develop the training program.
