  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to examine the influencing factors of oral health-related quality of life in adults. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 300 adults in Seoul and Gyeonggido from June to July, 2015 by convenience sampling method. Except 19 incomplete answers, 281 data were analyzed by t test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, health-related characteristics, whole body dry symptoms and subjective perception of dry mouth. The oral health-related quality of life was measured by Likert five points scale, and a higher score indicated a lower quality of life. Results: The oral health-related quality of life in adult varied by age, systemic diseases, oral health status, missing tooth, stress, decayed tooth, gingival disease. The oral health-related quality of life had positive correlations with the subjective perception of dry mouth and whole body dry symptoms. The subjective perception of dry mouth(${\beta}$=0.245) had the influence on the oral health-related quality of life, oral health status(${\beta}$=-0.209), gingival disease(${\beta}$=-0.151), and decayed tooth(${\beta}$=-0.146) in order. Conclusions: The oral health-related quality of life was closely related to the subjective perception of dry mouth and the oral health status. It is necessary to develop the quality of life improvement programs including oral health prevention and care program in the adults.

As a result, Significant differences in their suicide ideation were also caused by such quality of life variables as ill in bed, exercise capacity, self-management, daily activity, pain and uncomfortableness, and anxiety. The logistic analysis results of depression and suicide ideation according to the degree of subjective health perception show a significant finding that the better health perception they had compared with their very poor subjective health perception, the lower the odds ratio became. In the category of quality of life, only experience of uncomfortableness caused significant results on suicide ideation and depression. The results of the study will be of great use as basic data to intervene in the suicide route of the elderly and take measures to prevent suicide.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between risk perception and attitudes and preventive behaviors among college students with poor health and safety consciousness. Methods: A survey was conducted in students at three universities in the metropolitan area from May 11 to 18, 2018. Four kinds of instruments were used for this study, questionnaires about attitudes, perception, prevention education and preventive behaviors. Results: The safety-related attitude depended on age: those aged <21 years had the best attitude. Education experience significantly affected perception. Preventive behaviors were more strongly and positively correlated with attitudes than with perception. The factor most significantly affecting preventive behaviors were attitudes to preventive health. Conclusions: To allow the students to change their awareness and behaviors related to sickness and accidents, first it is necessary to give education on a continuous basis so that they can obtain perception to cope with sickness and accidents; second, it is necessary to develop behavioral guidelines related to accidents in each area so that they can practice and make it a habit through attitudinal changes.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of health perception, body image and sexual function on depression according to the menopausal stage in Korean middle aged women. Methods: Subjects were 182 perimenopausal and postmenopausal women who had not received hormonal replacement therapy. A five-item General HealthShort Form (SF-36) Health Survey Questionnaire (Ware & Sherbourne, 1992) was used to measure health perception. Body image was measured Semantic Differential scale, CES-D was used to measure the level of depression, and sexual function was measured by FSFI. Results: The subjects rated their health as 'moderate', their body image as 'moderate, and level of depression as 'high'. However, there were no significant differences in health perception, body image, and depression between perimenopasual and postmenopausal women. Postmenopausal women experienced lower levels of sexual function than perimenopausal women in sexual arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain. In stepwise regression analysis, 21.7% of variance in depression was shown to be perceived health and body image in postmenopausal women. However, in perimenopausal women, perceived health and sexual function explained 34.5% of variance in depression. Conclusion: These findings indicate that nurses must consider the menopasusal stage when counseling their patients.

The participants for this study were 120 adolescents from two middle school located in J city. Descriptive statistics, t-test or ANOVA with Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression with SPSS 20.0. The result of the multiple regression indicates the health risk perception, middle school grade and gender predict 14.0% (F=6.27, P<.001) of health promotion behaviors. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an intervention program to lower health risk perception in order to increase the health promotion behavior of adolescents.
