The subjects of this study were 167 elderly person over the age of 60, living in rural city in Korea. The data were collected by interview and self report questionnaire, during the period from May, 1999 to August. 1999 The instruments for this study were the PRQ-II by Weinert(1988), the scale of Locus of Control by Wallstone et al(1978), the scale of self efficacy by Sherer & Maddux(1982), 10 points visual analogue scale for the perceived health status and the importance of health, the health promoting behavior scale by Walker et al(1987), and the scales developed by authors for the perceived benefits of health promoting behaviors, and the perceived barriers to health promoting behaviors. The Cronbach 's alpha of these scales were .84 ~.97. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Among cognitive perceptual factors of the Health Promotion Model by Pender(1987), the scores of the importance of health, the perceived internal control of health, the self efficacy, the perceived health status, and the perceived benefits were significantly positive correlation with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. In addition, the scores of the perceived barriers were significantly negative correlation with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. 2. Among modifying factors of the Health Promotion Model by Pender(1987), the pocket money of the elderly, the scores of social support were significantly positive correlation with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. In addition, ages of old people were significantly negative correlations with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. 3. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of health promoting behavior was the self efficacy. A combination of the self efficacy, the perceived barriers, the social support, the importance of health, and the perceived internal control of health accounted for 56.2% of the variance in health promoting behavior in the elderly. From the results of this study, we concluded that the Health Promotion Model by Pender will be used to explain health promoting behavior of the elderly. We suggested that the results of this study will be considered in developing health promoting programs of elderly.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of infection control in long term care hospitals. Data were gathered from 156 long term care hospitals that received certification evaluation from May 1, 2016 to July 31, 2016. We used a questionnaire consisting of 85 items regarding the status and perceived importance of infection control. The data were analyzed using the SPSS / WIN 21.0 program. All of the hospitals have infection control regulations, 80.4% of them have an infection control committee and 86.0% of them employ an ICP(infection control practitioner) who holds this position in addition to another. Hand hygiene showed the highest score at 4.47 in the perceived importance of infection control. Employee education and compliance with the validity period of sterilized products showed the highest frequency and perceived importance among the infection control activities. The above results show that almost all of the long term care hospitals have infection control regulations, but that these regulations are not properly implemented, because of the lack of applicable regulations on the policy level. Therefore, it is necessary to develop infection monitoring standards and infection control guidelines for long term care hospitals and provide the infection control practitioners with training in how to apply them.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a tool that measures the quality of nursing service, to measure the quality of nursing service perceived by consumers, and to identify the gaps between ideal and actual nursing services. Method: A questionnaire was developed and distributed to 300 people who had been hospitalized in one of six general hospitals with quality of nursing services in five provincial cities in Korea. For data analysis, the SPSS/WIN(ver 10.0) program was used. Result: The 20 attributes included in the instrument of quality of nursing service is abstracted into 2 factors: tangibility and intangibility. In quality analysis, 15 of 20 attributes are minus scores, meaning that those nursing services are perceived as generally low. However among the minus scores' attributes, only two attributes are significant statistically. Gaps between importance and performance of the nursing service exists in 19 among 20 attributes. Conclusion: Nursing service quality (performance-expectation) needs to be improved, and Gaps (importance-performance) reduced. In addition, a tool measuring nursing service quality has to be developed so nurses can deal successfully with the quality and gaps of nursing service perceived by consumers.

  • With the growing importance of CSR, more fashion brands have actively engaged in CSR activities, and consumers' perception of their motives has become a critical issue. This study investigates the influence of perceived CSR motives on fashion consumers' perceived sincerity, trust, and behavioral intentions. In addition, the effect of 'CSR timing' and 'information source' on these variables was examined. In a 2×2 between- subjects design with scenarios, 515 adult consumers responded to an online survey questionnaire. The study identified three CSR motives: value-driven motive, instrumental motive, and strategic motive. The SEM results showed that the value-driven and instrumental motives influenced trust and behavioral intentions. In particular, perceived sincerity mediates value-driven motive and trust. A comparison of latent means revealed the effect of CSR timing on value-driven and strategic motives, trust, sincerity, and behavioral intentions. This study provides an insight into the relationship between consumers' perception of CSR motives and their reactions, and the importance of CSR timing.

  • With the increased importance of groupware in organizations, groupware acceptance is regarded as an important outcome in the efforts of firms to leverage the potential of this information technology in their business activities and strategies. Despite significant investments in groupware, considerable diversity exists in how well firms have been able to implement groupware and leverage the business value of groupware. This study identifies important factors influencing user acceptance of groupware by extending TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) which includes perceived control, intrinsic motivation, and concentration as well as perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness from original TAM. The proposed model is tested in an organization among 104 employees using previous research measurements. According to the findings from the study, the usage intention of groupware can be explained by intrinsic motivation, perceived control, perceived ease of use, and Perceived usefulness. However, it fails to explain the effect of concentration on the intention.

  • Objectives: This study examined the usage status and the degree of satisfaction of university foodservice (UF) perceived by international students in Busan. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted on the utilization of UF, improvement requirements, preference type and recipe, as well as the importance and satisfaction of UF quality attributes as perceived by international students (n=604) at universities in the Busan area between April and June 2017. Results: UF was 'generally satisfied' or 'very satisfied' in about 35.4% of the study population, and 'not very satisfied' or 'not satisfied at all' in approximately 11.5%. Approximately 21.7% said that UF contributed to dietary life 'very much' or 'quite significantly' and 36.4% said 'not very much' or 'not at all'. The largest demand for improvement of UF was 'variety of menu' (52.0%). The most leftover food in UF was kimchi (30.3%) and broth/stew (19.2%), and the major reason for having leftover was 'not to one's taste' (27.8%). After dividing the foodservice quality attributes into 5 factors - food quality and price, sanitation, convenience, physical environment, and service environment - and analyzing the importance and satisfaction of each factor, it was shown that satisfaction was generally lower than the degree of importance. Sanitation factor was high for both importance and satisfaction of UF, while convenience factor was high for the importance but low for satisfaction of UF. Four variables in the food quality and price factor ('food taste', 'freshness of food', 'nutritive value of food', and 'reasonable price') and 3 variables in the convenience factor ('variety of menu', 'prompt food service', and 'display of the meals for the day') had high importance but low satisfaction, showing the need for an improvement on these areas. Conclusions: Based on the study results, it is necessary to improve the food quality, as well as the price and convenience factors, and to provide various menus to increase the satisfaction of UF in international students.
