Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare health habit, physical health status, and perceived health status between young Korean and Korean-Chinese women. Methods: This study was conducted as a cross-sectional comparative survey. For this study, 114 Korean women were recruited in Seoul, South Korea and 64 Korean-Chinese women in Jilin Province, China through convenience sampling. Results: A positive correlation was found between health habit and perceived health status. Perceived health status, WHR, body density, flexibility, and muscle endurance were significantly lower in Korean women than in Korean-Chinese ones. Knee flexion and ankle dorsal flexion was significantly higher in Korean women than in Korean-Chinese ones. Conclusion: Further investigation is required to compare the two different groups that share the same ethnicity and similar culture but were born into different countries. A study such as this may provide answers regarding the influence of migrated transition on health.
The purpose of this study is to find out how well the middle school students are practicing the health promotion behaviors and the factors relating their health promotion behavior. Questionnaire survey on 922 middle school students attending 6 middle schools (three middle schools for each sex) located in Taegu City from the 7th through 19th of Feb. 2000 were conducted. The following were as follows; 1. The perceived health status is higher in male students than in female students(p〈0.01). And the ratio of the students' feeling that they are healthy becomes also high in proportion to their economic status, and their mothers' educational level, and their parents' interest in health(p〈0.01). The perceived importance of health is high in proportion to the students' economic status, and their parent's interest in health. 2. In case of the Health Locus of Control in Personality, the students with both parents have higher trend of inner control than the students with single mother or single father. The perceived self efficacy is significantly higher in male students than in female students(p〈0.01). And it becomes significantly high in-proportion to the students' economic status and their parents' educational level and interest in health(p〈0.01). It is also higher in the students who had no diseases. 3. In case of the perceived benefit of the health promotion behavior, the ratio of the students responding that it is high is higher in male students than in female students(p〈0.01). It also becomes high in proportion to the students' economic status, and their parent's educational level and interest in health(p〈0.01). The barriers of the health promotion behavior was found to have no variables that are related to itself. 4. According to the data from Multiple Regression of Analysis which has the health promotion behavior practice as a subordinate variable, in male students' case the degree of health promotion behavior practice becomes high in proportion to their parents' interest in health, and the perceived health status. Their degree of health promotion behavior practice is also in proportion to their perceived self efficacy and the perceived benefit of the health promotion behavior practice. But in case of the barriers of the health promotion behavior practice, the result is the opposite. As to the female students, their health behavior practice becomes high in proportion to their parents' interest in health. It also becomes high in proportion to the perceived health status, the understanding of the importance of the health, the perceived self efficacy and the perceived benefit of the health promotion behavior. But in case of the barriers of the health promotion behavior, it was the same as the male students' case.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of physical, psychological, and social factors on the health status of patients undergoing hemodialysis using longitudinal data. Methods: Two surveys were conducted within a period of two-year. A total of 75 patients participated in both surveys. Eight variables including symptoms, treatment belief, hope, meaning-focused coping, family support, friend/peer support, healthcare provider support, and health status were measured. Data were analyzed by paired t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regressions. Results: The mean age of the participants was 47.31 and the average duration of dialysis was 8.27 years. There was no difference in scores on perceived health status between the two year-interval surveys. The two-year follow-up on perceived health status was correlated with baseline perceived health status, friend/peer support, meaning-focused coping, hope, and symptoms. As the result of the regression analysis, friends/peer support (${\beta}=.31$, p=.013) and baseline perceived health status (${\beta}=.30$, p=.020) were found to be significant predictors of subsequent health status which explained 39.0% of the variance. Conclusion: This study suggests the importance of psychosocial resources for positive health outcomes in patients with a chronic illness. Nursing interventions aimed to provide renal peer support need to be developed and tested.
Valid evaluation of self-perceived health status is important for the promotion of individual health and quality of life, In advanced countries, many types of health profile have been developed, and currently, the SF-36, NHP, and EuroQol, etc, are widely used. However, the outcomes of these profiles may vary according to regional, cultural or emotional backgrounds. For these reasons a Korean Health Profile should be developed. In this study, we reviewed the concept of self-perceived health status, and its significance to public health, and reviewed some of the differences between the available profiles in 139 related publications. Based on this review, we are trying to develop a Korean Health Profile in order to measure the self-perceived health stati of Koreans.

Objectives: A growing number of people depend on flexible employment, characterized by outsider employment status and perceived job insecurity. This study investigated whether there was a synergistic effect of employment status (full-time vs. part-time) and perceived job insecurity on major depressive disorder. Methods: Data were derived from the 2012 Canadian Community Health Survey-Mental Health of 12 640 of Canada's labor force population, aged 20 to 74. By combining employment status with perceived job insecurity, we formed four employment categories: full-time secure, full-time insecure, part-time secure, and part-time insecure. Results: Results showed no synergistic health effect between employment status and perceived job insecurity. Regardless of employment status (full-time vs. part-time), insecure employment was significantly associated with a high risk of major depressive disorder. Analysis of the interaction between gender and four flexible employment status showed a gender-contingent effect on this link in only full-time insecure category. Men workers with full-time insecure jobs were more likely to experience major depressive disorders than their women counterparts. Conclusions: This study's findings imply that perceived job insecurity may be a critical factor for developing major depressive disorder, in both men and women workers.

Altogether previous related behavior, health status, a plan for action, perceived self-efficacy and number of admissions were proven to account for 57% of health promoting behaviors. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors related to the levels of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in elderly women based on Wilson and Cleary's HRQoL model. Methods: This study analyzed data from the eighth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2019 on 868 women over the age of 65 years. Based on the HRQoL model, parameters were categorized as personal, environmental, and physiological characteristics; symptom status; functional status; and perception of health status. The data were analyzed by quantile regression. Results: The overall level of HRQoL was 0.87. Factors related to HRQoL in the 10% quantile were higher education level, higher economic status, economic activity, more walking days, fewer diseases, lower stress, less activity limitation, and higher perceived health status. Factors related to the 25% quantile of HRQoL were more walking days, fewer diseases, less activity limitation, and higher perceived health status. Factors related to the 50% quantile were age, economic activity, more walking days, fewer disease, lower stress, less activity limitation, and higher perceived health status. Factors related to the 75% quantile of HRQoL were smoking, more walking days, fewer diseases, lower stress, less activity limitation, and higher perceived health status. Conclusion: While differing parameters were identified according to the level of HRQoL of elderly women in Korea, there were five common factors. Interventions that focus on increasing walking, mitigating diseases, stress, and activity limitations, and improving perceived health status can improve HRQoL.
