The research method used in this study was self-administered questionnaire. Samples of the study were composed of 353 workers exposed noise selected randomly in 10 ship-building manufacturing companies. Authors extracted following 9 factors related hearing conservation from 26 attitude propositions prepared from previous study results and health belief model; (1) general perceived susceptibility, (2) relative perceived susceptibility compared with colleagues, (3) concern to the personal protective devices, (4) perceived severity and concern to the hearing capacity, (5) concern to the hearing and noise assessment, (6) concern to the control noise and hearing conservation, (7) group pressure and reason of wearing protective devices, (8) apathy of hearing loss from noise, (9) knowledge about hearing conservation. Attitude factors affecting the preventive health behavior were general perceived susceptibility, concern to the noise control and hearing conservation, and concern to the personal protective devices in the case of wearing personal protective devices. But in the case of avoiding noise exposure as preventive health behavior, perceived severity and concern to the hearing capacity was a significant attitude factor with knowledge about hearing conservation.

Methods: The data were obtained from the 6th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013). Data were analyzed by complex sample frequency t test, one-way ANOVA, ${\chi}^2$ test, and general analysis. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects and perceived oral symptoms. Results: Those who had higher education tended to brush teeth regularly. The use of oral hygiene product was also high in higher educated elderly and higher income. Those with good oral health perception showed regular toothbrushing habit. Those with good chewing and mastication used oral hygiene products. Male tended to have regular dental checkup. Those having spouse, higher income, younger age, regular dental checkup had good chewing ability. Poor oral health perception, toothache, and chewing difficulty were the main cause of dental visit (p<0.05). Conclusions: The elderly with poor perceived oral symptoms showed lower level of oral hygiene care. They tended to visit dental clinics only when they had oral symptoms.

  • This study aims to investigate the factors influencing preventive behavior among foreigners residing in Korea. Drawing upon the Health Belief Model (HBM), this study seeks to gain insights into the decisionmaking processes underlying preventive behavior within this specific population. A comprehensive online survey was conducted among 364 foreigners. An analysis revealed that perceived barriers and perceived benefits played crucial roles as mediators, mediating the relationship between the examined factors and preventive behavior. The insights gained from this study have implications for public health interventions and self-preventive product businesses aiming to promote and sustain self-preventive behavior practices among foreigners residing in Korea, even after all COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.

  • Purpose: This study was done to explore the relationship between perceived patient safety culture and patient safety management activities among health personnel. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey. Participants were 342 health personnel working in two tertiary hospitals. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect data from a convenience sample of 254 nurses and 88 doctors. Results: Scores on participants' perceived patient safety culture and patient safety management activities were just over the mean. There were significant differences in patient safety management activities by type of occupation, nurses' position, length of service, and work week. Doctors scored perceived patient safety culture and patient safety management activities significantly lower than nurses. In addition, perceived patient safety culture was significantly related to patient safety management activities. Factors which influence participants' patient safety management activities were communication, type of occupation, overall evaluation of patient safety, supervisor/manager, frequency with which events were reported, and nurse's position. Conclusion: Findings provide significant evidence that patient safety management activities are associated with perceived patient safety culture. Therefore, to build a positive safety culture, health personnel, especially doctors and general nurses need to visibly commit to patient safety management activities and be role models to ensure patient safety.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine relationships between perceived exercise benefits/barriers, competence, depression, and wellness, and then to identify influencing factors on the wellness of traditional market traders. Methods: One hundred eight persons working in a traditional market participated in the study of questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The scores were 2.82±0.66 for "perceived exercise benefits", 1.84±0.42 for "perceived exercise barriers", 4.68±1.56 for "competence", 9.60±7.56 for "depression", and 3.64±0.64 for "wellness". Regression analysis to identify factors affecting the wellness of traditional market traders showed that "perceived exercise benefits" was the most significant factor (β=.32, p<.001), followed by "competence" (β=.04, p=.009) and "depression" (β=.17, p=.039). The explanatory power of these variables for wellness of traditional market traders was 53%. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that perceived exercise benefits, competence and depression are significantly related to traditional market trader's wellness. Therefore, wellness programs should be developed to reduce depression and improve perceived exercise benefits and competence.

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to test a model of physical activity of elderly living in Korea, determine significant factors contributing the physical activity, and examine significant paths in the model. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a convenience sample of 207 elderly men and women, aged 60 and older, residing in Busan Metropolitan City. Data were collected from July to August 2009 and analyzed using Predictive Analytics Software (PASW) and Analysis of a Moment Structures (AMOS). Results: The fitness of the modified model was confirmed to be appropriate (${\chi}^2$ = 55.61, ${\chi}^2$/df = 1.32, p = .078, RMSEA = .04, GFI = .96, AGFI = .91, NFI = .90, NNFI = .94, CFI = .97, PNFI = .48). The elder's age, previous exercise behavior, and self-efficacy were significant in explaining the variance in their physical activity. We found that (a) perceived health status, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and social support directly affected self-efficacy; (b) previous exercise behavior and perceived health status directly affected perceived benefits; (c) previous exercise behavior directly affected perceived barriers; and (d) and education level, extent of pocket money, and economic level directly affected social support. Conclusions: The younger the age, the more previous exercise experience, and the higher the self-efficacy, the more S. Korean elders demonstrated improved physical activity.

For this study, a survey was conducted on perceived stress, suicidal ideation, and mental health, self-esteem, problem drinking, and stress among 103 college studentsin Gyeonggi do. The results of this study are as follows. It was found that COVID-19 correlated with perceived stress, hopelessness, and suicidal ideation of college students. The hopelessness completely mediated between perceived stress and suicidal thoughts of college students, which is consistent with previous studies. This study is meaningful in that it confirmed relationship between the perceived stress, hopelessness, and suicidal ideations in college students due to COVID-19, reflecting the new situation of the times. Coronavirus will worsen people's mental health disorders and cause new stress-related disorders. Therefore, mental health researchers, clinicians, and people working in trauma-related fields should find ways to reduce the incidence of coronavirus-related trauma stress and prevent its effects. It is necessary to expand the psychological vaccine program to improve the resilience of the public. Since there are individual differences in resilience, it is necessary to strengthen the psychological vaccine program for each subject considering resilience.
