The Effects of Psychomotor program on the Childcare Efficacy and Ego Resilience of Child care teachers (심리운동프로그램이 보육교사의 자아탄력성과 보육효능감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Psychomotor program on the child care teacher's ego resilience and childcare efficacy. The subjects of this study are childcare teachers of eight daycare centers in J-gu, Seoul. The final subjects were 18 in the experimental group and 19 in the control group. Psychomotor program was provided to the experimental group, which consisted of four hours per session, two sessions per week, and a total of ten sessions. Data collection took place between September 2 and November 12, 2017. Collected data were analyzed by independent sample Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test. In this study, the Psychomotor program had a significant effect on improving ego resilience and childcare efficiency of interpersonal relationships which is lower factor of the ego resilience. Through this study, we identified it was worth establishing a basic basis for managing and supporting ego resilience of child care teachers, and that it was meaningful to suggest ways to help them adapt and cope with their job duties.

The Effect of Task oriented Imagination Training on the Function of Upper limb and Daily Activities of Chronic Stroke Patients (과제 지향적 상상훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 상지 기능과 일상생활활동에 대한 다중회귀분석)

  • This study is aimed at identifying the effect the task-oriented imagination training of chronic stroke patients have on the function of upper limb and their daily activities(: ADL). The research subjects were composed of 30 chronic stroke patients with over three months of ailment history, with each group composed of 15 patients assigned to the experiment group and the control group, respectively. The experiment group was subjected to the task-oriented training and the imagination training at the same time, while the control group was subjected to the task-oriented training only. All Interventions were performed for 5 times per week over the period of 8 weeks and 30 minutes per session. In order to monitor the changes as a result of the Intervention program, the MFT and OPTIMAL were employed for the upper limb function while the MBI was employed for the ADL to measure the values before and after the Intervention, respectively, with the results shown below. As a result, MFT, OPTIMAL and MBI showed significant difference between before and after in group. And Mental practice group showed more improvement.

Effects of Interactive Metronome Training on the Plantar Pressure and Fall Efficacy in Chronic Stroke Patients (상호교환식 메트로놈 훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 족저압과 낙상효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the effects of Interactive Metronome training on the plantar pressure and fall efficacy in chronic stroke patients. METHODS: Twenty-two hemiplegic patients were allocated randomly to an experimental group and control group. The experimental group received conventional physical therapy and emphasized weight-bearing interactive metronome training, whereas the control group received conventional physical therapy. The training was performed three times per week, 40 minutes per each session, for a total of seven weeks. The plantar pressure was assessed using the contact area and contact pressure, whereas the fall efficacy was assessed using the FES (Fall Efficacy Scale), ABC (Activities-specific Balance Confidence scale) and FOFQ (Fear of Falling Questionnaire). RESULTS: After training, a significant increase was observed in the paretic side of the contact area and the paretic and non-paretic side of contact pressure in both groups (p<.05). The between-group differences in the changes before and after training were statistically significant in the paretic side of the contact pressure (p<.05). After training, both the FES of the between-group and ABC of the experimental group were increased significantly (p<.05), but the between-group differences in the changes before and after training were not statistically significant in the FES, ABC, and FOFQ (p>.05). CONCLUSION: Interactive Metronome training is considered an effective treatment for improving the contact pressure of the paretic side in chronic stroke patients.

Effect of Unstable Surface Exercise on Trunk Posture and Balance Ability in Patients With Scoliosis: After six months follow-up (불안정한 표면 운동이 척추측만증 환자의 체간자세와 균형에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of lumbar stabilization exercise on an unstable surface on trunk posture and static standing balance ability in patients with scoliosis. Methods: Subjects included 18 patients who showed symptom of scoliosis. Patients were divided into two experimental groups, one using an unstable surface and one using a fixed surface, and the patients were required to perform a lumbar stabilization exercise a total of 12 times for 60 minutes per session, three times per week for a period of four weeks, with a six-months follow-up period. Results: A significant reduction was observed in the group that performed the lumbar stabilization exercise on an unstable surface (p<0.05). A significant decrease in both the condition of closed eyes or open eyes in the left and right directions was observed in the group that performed the lumbar stabilization exercise on an unstable surface (p<0.05). After six months, results of comparison of the length of both sides of the trunk showed a significantl decrease in the group performing lumbar stabilization exercises on an unstable surface. Conclusion: Lumbar stabilization exercise on an unstable surface improved the trunk posture of patients with scoliosis symmetrically, and static balance ability in a standing posture showed improvement. In the future, lumbar stabilization exercise on an unstable surface may be used as an exercise for posture correction and balance increase for patients with scoliosis.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine Exercisely the effects of applying an Integrated Exercise Program (IEP) with the adapted use of Thera-Band exercise sets to Korean seniors on their improvement in their physical strength (PS), daily living ability (ADL and IDAL). Methods : The Exercise group consisted of 30 Korean seniors of 65 years of age or older, while the control group had another 30 Korean seniors with comparable aging. The Exercise group received the IEP for 50 to 60 minutes per session, three sessions per week, for a duration of consecutive 12 weeks. Results : This confirms the beneficial effects of the IEP on their MA and PS, and their improvement in PS (p<.05), in turn, can improve their IADL (p<.05). The results of this study indicate the potentialities for IEP to help Korean seniors of 65 years or older to improve their PS, ADL and IADL. Conclusion : The IEP is within the physical and financial capabilities of Korean seniors, can be designed and modified and adjusted according to their individual physiological conditions. Sustained, regular exercises under IEP are expected to help resolve physiological issues of aging of Korean seniors.

The Effects of Circuit Obstacle Group Gait Training on Gait and Emotion in Stroke Patients (순환식 장애물 집단 보행 훈련이 뇌졸중 환자의 보행 능력과 정서에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose : This study is designed to demonstrate the effects of circuit obstacle group gait training on walking ability and emotion in stroke patients. Methods : Twenty one patients with stroke were participated in this study. The subjects were divided into control group(n=10) and experimental group(n=11). Circuit obstacle group gait training consisted of walking around obstacles, walking over obstacles, walking up and down slopes and walking up and down stairs. Circuit obstacle group gait training was conducted five times per week, 1 hour per session, for 6 consecutive weeks. At pre-test and post-test, subjects were tested with 10 m walking test, timed up and go test, up and down 4 stairs test, depression and self esteem. Results : After 6 weeks of research, the experimental group showed statistically significant difference in all items when comparing prior to training and after training (p<.05), but the control group showed statistically significant difference in items other than depression and self esteem(p<.05). In the comparison between the two groups, the experimental group showed higher improvement than the control group in the 10 m walking test, timed up and go test, and up and down 4 stairs test, and there was statistically significant difference in decrease of degree in depression between the experimental group and control group(p<.05). Conclusion : This study have shown that circuit obstacle group gait training improves walking ability and emotion in stroke patients.

Effects of Yoga Nidra on Self-esteem in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 자아존중감에 관한 요가 니드라의 효과)

  • This study was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group to investigate the effects of yoga nidra on self-esteem in nursing students. Thirty-nine undergraduate nursing students were selected by convenience sampling, with 19 assigned to an yoga nidra group and 20 assigned to a control group. The data were collected from May 1 to June 24, 2016. The yoga nidra intervention was performed for 60 minutes per session, two sessions per a week for 8 weeks. The control group did not participate in the yoga nidra and had no designated intervention. Self-esteem were measured with Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale. The yoga nidra group scores were significantly increased in self-esteem levels compared with the control group. In conclusion, these findings indicate that yoga nidra intervention would elevate self-esteem levels in nursing students and it can be used as a tool to improve the self - esteem of university students as well as nursing college students.

Effects of Self-motivated Virtual Reality Exercise Program on Heart Rate Variability and Quality of Life in the Hemodialysis Patients (자기주도 가상현실 운동프로그램이 혈액투석환자의 심박변이도, 삶의 질에 미치는 효과)

  • In this study, 46 patients from a local hemodialysis center were enrolled to assess the effects of a self-motivated virtual reality (VR) exercise program on the heart rate variability and quality of life control in hemodialysis patients. The VR group (n = 23) completed a VR exercise program, where the subjects performed the exercise 40 min per session, 3 sessions per week, for 8weeks. After the exercise program, the heart rate variability and quality of life were measured. The VR group showed significant improvement in the heart rate variability and quality of life. The self-motivated VR exercise program provided both the role of supervisor as well as feedback, which is important for hemodialysis patients.Therefore, a self-motivated VR exercise program may be a useful tool for improving the psychosocial function in chronic disease patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Effects of Trunk Pattern Exercise in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Integrated Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Function of Lower extremity in Stroke Patients (고유수용성신경근촉진법의 체간 패턴 운동을 병행한 경두개직류자극이 뇌졸중 환자의 하지 기능에 미치는 영향)

  • The study examined the effects of trunk pattern exercise in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) integrated transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on the muscle activity and balance, walking speed in stroke patient. Thirty-one patients with hemiplegia due to stroke were assigned to either the experimental group (n=15) or control group (n=16). Both groups performed trunk pattern training in PNF for 3 times per week over a 6 week period for 20 minutes per session. The experimental group performed additional tDCS for 20 minutes. A comparison of the two groups after the intervention showed that the exercise program in experimental group had a more significant on the gastrocnemius, tibialis anterior and balance than the control group (p<.05). This showed that trunk pattern exercise in PNF integrated tDCS had a positive effect on the functional recovery of the lower extremity in stroke patients.

A Meta-analysis of Social Skills Training for Socially Isolated Children (사회적 고립 아동의 사회기술훈련 효과에 관한 메타분석)

  • Children who have problems in interacting appropriately with others typically have significant social skills deficits. Social skills training has become a primary intervention to improve the appropriate peer relationship or peer acceptance. Many social skills training programs have been designed and implemented on socially isolated children, however the findings from many studies investigating the effect of social skills interventions are various. The first purpose of this study was to verify the effectiveness of interventions by using quantitative method of meta-analysis. Second, it was to review a various research in detail. Third, it was to provide the basis of planning a social skills training program. For these purposes, findings from 26 studies investigating the effects of social skills interventions for 624 socially isolated children (5-12 years) were analyzed. The result of this study were the following : The pooled overall mean effect size(ES) was 1.11. On average, the pooled mean effect size(ES) according to the different research variables was large, meaning that the social skills intervention had a great effect and was socially important and necessary for socially isolated children. It would be recommended that social skills programs include appropriate target behaviors through multidisciplinary assessment process. This program should mainly focus on the improvement of prosocial behavior skills as well as reducing problem behaviors. For preschool children, over 50 minutes per session, two to three sessions per week, for a total of total over 20 sessions would be ideal. Posttest and follow-up need to perform for generalization and maintenance. Content of the program should be tailored to the developmental level as well as the interest level of the children.
