  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of children's individual characteristic on peer acceptance. The subjects were 234 6th grade elementary school children in Kwangju, Korea. The Questionnaires were used to collect the data on peer acceptance and social behavioral trait, physical attractiveness, demographic variables and the school achievement grade assessed by their teachers. The results were as follows : 1. Peer acceptance score, school achievement grade, prosocial behavior score, appearance score and physical attractiveness tend to be above the median scores. Aggression behavior score and withdrawal score tend to below the median scores. 2. The effect of individual characteristic variables on the peer acceptance found all significantly. 3. The influence of prosocial behavior, physical attractiveness, withdrawal behavior, aggressive behavior and school achievement grade on peer acceptance were found significantly. Prosocial behavior was the most influential variable on peer acceptance.

  • The growing global energy demand has been the motivation for innovations for improved approaches on energy trade. The involvement of new energy market players known as prosumers have also enabled Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy trade in microgrid communities. In this paper, a novel approach to energy trading based on Hive Strategy is proposed. The strategy aims to encourage prosumers to become workers that will meet the energy demands of consumers referred to as hives. The workers are selected based on their Prosumer Ratings (PR) and are ranked from the ones with the highest PR to the lowest. Using the PR, prosumers with the best energy consumption and generation behaviors are prioritized for energy trade. To test the proposed strategy, a simulation has conducted and the results show how the energy demand of the hive is met by the workers. Furthermore, an improvement in the pay-offs and PR of the workers are observed.

  • This study was to investigate the following research questions. (1) Is there any gender difference in the mother's verbal control and the child's peer relation\ulcorner (2) Is there any relationship between the mother's verbal control and the child's peer relation\ulcorner (3) Is the child's peer-relation influenced by the mother's verbal control\ulcorner The subjects of this study were 157 boys and 144 girls attending elementary schools in Susan. Lee, Kyung-Hee's questionnaires(1993) on mother's verbal control modes and Lee, Ju-Lie's questionnaires(1994) on child's peer relation were used. The results were as follows: 1) The mother's imperative mode for boys differed significantly from that for girls. Boys perceived mother's verbal control mode as more imperative. 2) There were significantly correlations between mother's position- oriented mode and boy's peer relation, between mother's person-oriented mode and boy's peer relation, and between mother's position-oriented mode and girl's peer relation. 3) The mother's position-oriented mode and the mother's person-oriented mode were the predictor variables influencing on child's peer relation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating and moderating effects of teacher-child relationships on children's social behavior and peer preference. The participants were 508 children and 28 head teachers of their classes. Teachers measured the children's social behavior and the teacher-child relationships. Peer preference was measured by peer nomination. The association between prosocial behavior and peer preference was partially mediated by teacher-child conflict. The association between withdrawal, aggression and peer preference was fully mediated by teacher-child conflict. The moderating effects of teacher-child conflict were found between prosocial behavior and peer preference. In addition, teacher-child conflict moderated the association between physical aggression and peer preference.

  • In a sample of 594 seventh to ninth graders, this study examined the relation between bullying-victimization and the self-esteem and the implication of peer support in their relation. The results of study were as followed: 1) significant sex difference was observed in the victimization but not in the bullying. 2) the bullying was positively correlated with the peer-related self and physical competence self, and negatively correlated with personality self among boys. Among girls, bullying was positively correlated with the peer-related self and negatively correlated with personality self. 3) the victimization was negatively correlated with peer-related self, academic self, physical appearance self, and physical competence self among boys. Among girls, the victimization was negatively correlated with peer-related self, home self, and physical appearance self. 4) the peer support mediate the relation of the buoying-victimization and self-esteem. Results are discussed the role of peer support in the relationship between bullying-victimization and self-esteem.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating role of Ego-Resilience between Peer Attachment and Mobile Phone Dependency in late adolescence. Methods: The participants were 2056 third year high school adolescents (1,041 boys and 1,015 girls) from the Korea Youth Panel Study (KYPS), a national representative of Korean Children and adolescence. Hierarchical Regression was used for data analysis. Results: First, the correlation between peer attachment, ego-resilience and mobile phone dependency were all significant. Second, ego-resilience takes the role of moderator for mobile phone dependency. In detail, ego-resilience relieves the mobile phone dependency caused by 'peer relationships' or 'conflict in peer relationships. Conclusion/Implications: Ego-resilience was found to control the relationship between peer attachment and mobile phone dependency. Therefore, in order to lower the dependence of mobile phones in adolescents with low peer attachment, a program that can enhance ego-resilience is needed.

  • Objective: This study explored the mediating effects of language development on the influences of young children's media use on positive and negative peer interactions. Methods: The data came from the 2013 Panel Study on Korean Children (N = 1,215) and were analyzed to assess the mediating effects of media use on positive and negative peer interactions, using SEM with the bootstrapping method by means of SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results and Conclusion: The results show that increased media use affects positive and negative peer interactions through language development. This indicates that, while media use does not directly affect positive and negative peer interactions, it appears to increase the difficulty of developing language ability; as the language development worsens, undesirable peer interactions may develop. Thus, language development seems to play an important mediating role between media use and peer interactions. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

  • The self-organizing super peer ring P2P search scheme improves search performance of the existing unstructured peer-to-peer systems, in which super peers with high capacity constitute a ring structure and all peer in the system utilize the ring for publishing or querying their keys. In this paper, we further improves the performance of the self-organizing ring by adaptively changing its super peer ratio according to the status of the entire system. By using PSO, the optimized super peer ratio can be maintained within the system. Through simulations, we show that our self-organizing super peer ring optimized by PSO outperforms not only the fixed super peer ring but also the self-organizing super ring with fixed ratio in the aspect of query success rate.
