The aim of this study is to examine the pathways from attachment to children's psychological well-being in addition to the mediating role of children's ego-resilience and peer support. The participants, 297 fifth and sixth grade students from Seoul and other cities, completed questionnaires on attachment, ego-resilience, peer support and psychological well-being. Data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, Pearson's correlation coefficients, factor analysis, and path analysis. The findings are as follows. Attachment didn't appear to directly influence children's psychological well-being, but showed a number of indirect effects in two ways. First, attachment indirectly affected children's psychological well-being by ego-resilience as a simple form of mediation. Second, attachment influenced children's psychological well-being through children's ego-resilience and peer support as a dual mediation. Ego-resilience demonstrated the strongest effect on psychological well-being among all the factors examined. These results highlight the way in which children's personal internal resources play an important role in the pathways from attachment to their psychological well-being.

Deploying advanced home networking technologies and modern home-networked devices in residential environments provides a playground for new home applications and services. Because home multimedia entertainment is among the most essential home applications, this paper presents an appealing home media content sharing scenario: home-networked devices can discover neighboring devices and share local media content, as well as enormous amounts of Internet media content in a convenient and networked manner. This ideal scenario differs from traditional usages that merely offer local media content and require tedious manual operations of connection setup and file transfer among various devices. To achieve this goal, this study proposes a proxy gateway architecture for home multimedia content distribution. The proposed architecture integrates several functional mechanisms, including UPnP-based device discovery, home gateway, Internet media provision, and in-home media content delivery. This design addresses several inherent limitations of device heterogeneity and network interoperability on home and public networks, and allows diverse home-networked devices to play media content in an identical and networked manner. Prototypical implementation of the proposed proxy gateway architecture develops a proof-of-concept software, integrating a BitTorrent peer-to-peer client, a UPnP protocol stack, and a UPnP AV media server, as well as media distribution and management components on the OSGi home gateway platform. Practical demonstration shows the proposed design and scenario realization, offering users an unlimited volume of media content for home multimedia entertainment.
This study analyzed the relation of children's attachment security and mother-child interaction to children's peer interactions. The subjects were 51 preschoolers, 44 to 57 months of age and their mothers. Attachment was assessed using the Attachment Q-set (Waters, 1987), mother-child interactions at home were observed with the use of the Teaching Strategies Rating Scales (Erickson, Sroufe, Egeland, 1985), and peer interactions were observed during free play time, using the Holloway and Erickson(1988) categories. Pearson correlation and multiple regression showed that attachment security scores were negatively related to dependency toward peers. Mother's "structure and limit setting" and "respect for child's autonomy" were positively related to "helping with peers" and negatively to "asking for help" and "physical attack". The variables accounting for dependency toward peers were mother's hostility and attachment security.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the predictors of indoor play behaviors using cluster analyses. Methods: Data from 963 children (age 4 years) who participated in the $5^{th}$ phase of the Panel Study of Korean Children, their parents, and their teachers were analyzed using K-means clustering analyses, F-tests and multinomial logistic regression analyses. Results: The clustering analyses revealed three distinctive profiles: positive-theme oriented, general-exploratory/manipulative, and negative-exploratory/manipulative groups. Child characteristics, including cognition, language, and social level, and teachers' age were significantly associated with the groups in a different way; the clusters were partially different in the gender and creativity of children, interaction level of teachers' interaction, classroom environment, and program types that children attended. Conclusion: Findings revealed three clusters of play behaviors and highlighted the importance of the ecological variables that determined the clusters.
This study sought to investigate the aspects and other factors at work in rough and tumble play by children, through a qualitative research approach. The participants consisted of 25 5-year-old children and their teachers at A kindergarten, located in Seoul. The results of the research are as follow:(1) there are various aspects in the initiation of, development of, as well as the way children's rough and tumble play ends. (2) The factors that trigger children's rough and tumble play include : limitation and creation of toys, teacher absence, particular times throughout the day, gender awareness, peer relationships, the reactions of teachers, and social and cultural factors at work in class.
This study investigated the agreement between 3 assessments of preschoolers' friendship: peer nominations, teacher nominations, and behavioral observations. The relationship between friendship, social status, social competence, and play behaviors was also investigated. The subjects were 44 5-year-olds. Teachers were asked to rate the children's social competence; play behaviors were observed during free play time. The results indicated high agreement between the 3 assessments. Popular children were more likely to have friends than other social status groups. Children without friends were more hesitant than children with friends. Children with friends were more accepted by peers and engaged in cooperative social play more than children without friends.
