교차로 포장 소성변형 저감을 위한 해석적 연구 (An Analytical Study to Reduce Plastic Deformation in Intersection Pavements)

  • PURPOSES : Plastic deformation is frequently made in intersection asphalt pavement at its early age due to deceleration and stoppage of vehicles. This study has been performed to provide a mechanistic basis for reasonable selection of paving method to minimize the plastic deformation at intersection. METHODS : Pavement layer, temperature, traffic volume of the intersections managed by the Daejeon Regional Construction and Management Administration were collected to calculate asphalt dynamic modulus with pavement depth by using a prediction equation suggested by the Korean pavement design guide. Performance of ordinary dense-graded asphalt pavement, polymer modified asphalt pavement, and fiber reinforced asphalt pavement was analyzed by finite element method and the results were used in a performance model to predict the plastic deformation. RESULTS : In aspect of performance, the three paving methods were usable under low traffic while the fiber reinforced asphalt pavement was the most suitable under heavy traffic. CONCLUSIONS : Reasonable paving method suitable for traffic characteristics in the intersection might be decided by considering economic feasibility.

순환골재를 포함한 입상재료의 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Characteristics of Granular Materials Containing Recycled Aggregates)

  • PURPOSES : In Korea, most designs of pavement had been mainly performed by considering CBR of granular materials before KPRP(Korea Pavement Research Program) and 86 AASHTO design method were introduced. Since then, the trend of the pavement designs gradually have moved to using mechanical characteristics throughout the resilient modulus based on the test results up to recently. In this study, we should like to research the mechanical characteristics of paving materials containing Recycled aggregates through the cyclic loading triaxial compression tests. METHODS : The kinds of materials were tested; coarse grained subbase materials, refining aggregates base materials and recycled aggregates. RESULTS : The present study aims to figure out the resilient modulus of paving materials containing Recycled aggregates through the cyclic loading triaxial compression tests. CONCLUSIONS : The test results revealed that the engineering properties of the recycled aggregates were more excellent than the those of others.

겨울철 보도 미끄럼 저항 (Skid Resistance of the Sidewalks in Winter)

  • PURPOSES : This study aimed to measure the skid resistance of the sidewalk in order to find out the relationship between different surface types and skid resistance. By using British Pendulum Tester, skid resistance of sidewalk was measured in a wet after snow-melt, sludgy, and snowy conditions. METHODS : The skid resistance was measured on surfaces including Concrete Interlocking Block Paving, Colour Asphalt Pavement, Granite Block Paving, Manhole, and Tactile Paving for Visually Impaired. Five trials at each measurement were made, and the average and standard deviation were derived. RESULTS : The skid resistance measured in wet after snow-melt, sludgy, and snowy conditions for the various surface types are summarized and compared. Reduction rates of skid resistance of sludgy and snowy against wet after snow-melt are also analysed. The skid resistance variation between measurement points which mimic pedestrian route in study site are analysed to check out the consistency of the skid resistance along the sidewalk. CONCLUSIONS : The study concluded that the skid resistance of sidewalk surfaces varied depending on the surface types and weather conditions. Secondly, reduction rates of skid resistance according to weather changes are varied depending on the surface types, Thirdly, consistency of skid resistance along the pedestrian route is hardly acquired in the study site at least. So, future study on the consistency evaluation for skid resistance along sidewalk is strongly recommended.

A Feasibility Study of Wood-plastic Composite Paver Block for Basic Rest Areas

  • A wood-plastic composite (WPC) paver block was manufactured using wood chips waste through an extrusion process, and it was intended to be used for paving in basic rest areas. The first stage in this study covered preliminary tests in terms of flexural strength and dimensional swelling to determine the optimal WPC compounding mix condition, by variation of the WPC ingredients. Next, three different paver blocks including the WPC block, a non-porous cement block, and a porous cement block were tested in terms of various material properties in the laboratory. Finally, two outdoor test sections of the proposed paver blocks were prepared to simulate a basic rest area. Test results indicated that the flexural strength of the WPC paver blocks was about 1.6 times greater than that of the tested cement paver blocks. The WPC block pavement was unaffected by water buoyance as well as volume expansion due to swelling. Results from the impact absorbance test and light falling weight deflectometer (LFWD) test clearly showed that the WPC block paving system marginally satisfied the comfortable and safe hardness range from the pedestrians' perspective, while the results demonstrated that it is structurally sound for application as a road paving block.

도로포장 유지보수 공사비산정기준 개정에 대한 연구 (A Study on Revising Construction Cost Calculation for Road Paving Maintenance Work)

  • Unlike new construction projects, road paving maintenance work shows large productivity discrepancies depending on the conditions of the worksite. The current construction cost calculation scheme, however, only provides daily construction volume categorized by work scope and scale: There are no detailed standards that can be implemented on various types of worksites. To develop standards that enable the calculation of appropriate construction costs by taking into account worksite conditions, the current study conducted on-site surveys and interviews. The on-site research and analysis revealed that location, construction width, the day's worksite lot, work scope, and construction objectives were found to cause differences in construction volume. In addition to the existing work scope and work scape variables, the current study added weight constants reflecting the daily work volume based on movement conditions at site and the size of the worksite lot. In this process, the current study found that even one type of construction project can have fifteen different levels of daily construction volume. Such detailed classification was deemed to enable the proper calculation of construction costs based on worksite conditions.

톱밥과 우레탄 수지 혼합물로 제조한 탄성 포장재의 특성 (Characteristics of Elastic Paving Material Made of Sawdust and Urethane Resin Mixture)

  • 공원 산책로 및 관광지의 포장재로서 목재 칩-우레탄 수지 혼합물의 연구 및 상업화가 진행 중에 있다. 본 연구에서는 활발한 몸동작이 일어나는 놀이터에서 이러한 포장재의 이용을 확대하기 위한 방안을 강구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 목재 칩 (10mm 체를 통과하고 3mm 체에 남는 것)의 일부 또는 전부를 톱밥으로 대체한 목질 포장재의 물리적 성질 및 안전성을 실험에 의해 검토하였다. 우레탄 수지, 톱밥 및 목재 칩의 혼합비를 변화시켜 인장 강도, 휨강도, 탄성계수, 미끄럼 저항성, 충격 흡수성, 중금속 함량 및 용출 시험을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 톱밥과 목재 칩의 총 질량에 대한 수지의 질량비가 1.0 및 1.2이고, 톱밥과 목재 칩의 총 질량에 대한 톱밥의 질량비가 0~0.4인 시험체의 경우, KS F 3888-2의 표준을 대체로 만족함으로써 놀이터 등에서의 이용 가능성을 확인하였다. 그러나 목질 재료로 톱밥만을 사용한 경우에는 충격 흡수성이 기준치를 밑돌고, 규정된 인장 강도를 확보하기 위해서 톱밥과 수지의 질량비는 1.2 이상을 필요로 하는 것으로 나타났다.

폐폴리올레핀 폼과 탄성 포장재로 구성된 어린이 놀이터 바닥의 안전성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Study on the Safety of Playground Flooring Made of Polyolefin Foam Waste and Rubber Paving)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐폴리올레핀 폼을 완충재로 이용한 어린이 놀이터 바닥의 안전성을 알아보기 위하여 한계하강높이, 보행적합성 및 장기피로예측, 미끄럼저항성에 대하여 시험하고 평가하였다. 시험체는 두께 30mm, 50mm, 70mm의 폐폴리올레핀 폼에 각각 탄성 포장재를 12mm, 15mm 두께로 포설한 6종류로 하였다. 한계하강높이 시험은 KS G 5758:2009에 의거하여 실시하였다. 보행적합성 및 장기피로예측 시험에는 바닥 경도 시험장치(O-Y HMA)를 이용하였으며, 미끄럼저항성 시험에는 휴대형 미끄럼 시험기(ONO PPSM)을 이용하였다. 시험결과, 폐폴리올레핀 폼과 탄성 포장재로 구성된 바닥은 충격저감성 관점에서 상당히 안전한 것으로 나타났다. 바닥의 경도는 남성에게는 보행감이나 피로 측면에서 우수한 성능을 발휘하지만, 여성에게는 구두(미들 힐)를 신고 보행하기에 적합하지 않고 오래 사용할 경우 쉽게 피로감을 느낄 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 미끄럼저항성은 표면에 물기 등의 이물질이 있더라도 일상적인 동작에 대해서는 비교적 안전한 것으로 나타났다.

Advancing Front Method를 이용한 대변형 쉘 구조물의 적응적 유한요소 자동생성법 (Adaptive Mesh Generation in Large Deformation Analysis of Shell Structures with Advancing Front Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 대변형 쉘 구조물에 효과적인 적응적 유한요소 자동생성 기법을 제안한다. 사후 오차평가에 기초하여 기하학적 비선형 해석시 각 하중 단계에서의 요소 재생성에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 응력오차로부터 얻어진 요소크기 함수로 등고선을 구성하고, 요소 재생성 기법으로 advancing front method의 일종인 패이빙법(paving method)을 이용하여 적응적 요소 자동생성을 수행한 결과, 그 유용성을 확인하였다.
