확률적 포장 공용성 예측모델 개발 방법론 (Methodology of a Probabilistic Pavement Performance Prediction Model Based on the Markov Process)

  • 포장유지관리체계는 신설포장의 공용 이후 포장 유지보수를 실시함에 있어 기술적으로 타당하고 경제적으로 효율적인 보수전락을 적용하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해서는 신뢰성 있는 포장공용성 예측모델을 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 마르코프 체인 이론에 기초한 확률적 포장공용성 예측 시스템을 제안하고, 아스팔트 포장으로의 적용상 문제점 등을 기술하였다. 본 연구 결과로서 아스팔트 포장의 공용성 예측을 위한 포장상태 전이행렬을 정의하였으며, 정량적인 포장공용 수명평가 결과를 제시하였다.

Multiple Regression Technique for Productivity Analysis of the Jointed Plane Concrete Pavement (JPCP)

  • In highway construction projects, concrete pavement productivity has been challenged with constructors and decision-makers; at present there are few methods available to accurately evaluate the factors impacting on it. Any inefficient method to analyze it leads to the excessive schedule, higher rehabilitation costs, shorter service life, and reduction of ride quality. To implement these negative outcomes, constructors or decision-makers need a systematic tool that can be used to categorize the factors related to construction productivity. This paper applies multiple regression technique for productivity analysis of the Jointed Plane Concrete Pavement (JPCP), identifies the significant factors, and provides a predictive model assisting in monitoring and managing the productivity of the JPCP construction process. The completed and progressive projects are employed to derive and assess the proposed model. The results are analyzed to illustrate its capabilities.

  • The use of road cutters in the maintenance of obsolete underground facilities maintains polluting dust, cutting sludge, etc, polluting the air environment, soil, and water, causing civil complaints caused by noise, and consequently interrupting work. Therefore, it is time for eco-friendly pavement cutting technology for fugitive dust and cutting sludge emission management and noise management. This study was based on research by the development of eco-friendly pavement cutting technology in urban areas. In this study, the current state of existing road cutters is investigated and the patented technology analysis of road cutters is conducted to derive the design elements of eco-friendly pavement cutting technology.

딥러닝을 활용한 일반국도 아스팔트포장의 공용수명 예측 (Prediction of Asphalt Pavement Service Life using Deep Learning)

  • PURPOSES : The study aims to predict the service life of national highway asphalt pavements through deep learning methods by using maintenance history data of the National Highway Pavement Management System. METHODS : For the configuration of a deep learning network, this study used Tensorflow 1.5, an open source program which has excellent usability among deep learning frameworks. For the analysis, nine variables of cumulative annual average daily traffic, cumulative equivalent single axle loads, maintenance layer, surface, base, subbase, anti-frost layer, structural number of pavement, and region were selected as input data, while service life was chosen to construct the input layer and output layers as output data. Additionally, for scenario analysis, in this study, a model was formed with four different numbers of 1, 2, 4, and 8 hidden layers and a simulation analysis was performed according to the applicability of the over fitting resolution algorithm. RESULTS : The results of the analysis have shown that regardless of the number of hidden layers, when an over fitting resolution algorithm, such as dropout, is applied, the prediction capability is improved as the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of the test data increases. Furthermore, the result of the sensitivity analysis of the applicability of region variables demonstrates that estimating service life requires sufficient consideration of regional characteristics as $R^2$ had a maximum of between 0.73 and 0.84, when regional variables where taken into consideration. CONCLUSIONS : As a result, this study proposes that it is possible to precisely predict the service life of national highway pavement sections with the consideration of traffic, pavement thickness, and regional factors and concludes that the use of the prediction of service life is fundamental data in decision making within pavement management systems.

도로포장 구조체의 물성 추정을 위한 FWD의 설계 및 제작 (Development of Falling Weight Deflectometer for Evaluation of Layer Properties of Flexible Pavement)

  • Many structural evaluation procedures of road and airfield pavements use the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) as a critical element of non-destructive deflection testing. FWD is a trailer mounted device that provides accurate data on pavement response to dynamic wheel loads. A dynamic load is generated by dropping a mass from a variable height onto a loading plate. The magnitude of the load and the pavement deflection are measured by a load celt and geophones. And database concerning pavement damage should be enhanced to analyze loss of thickness asphalt layer caused from the plastic deformation of pavement structure, such as cracking or rutting. The prototype FWD is developed, which consists of chassis system, hydraulic loading system, data acquisition and analysis system. This system subsequently merged to from automation management system and is then validated and updated to produce a working FWD which can actually be used in the field.

국도 포장관리를 위한 의사결정시스템 개발 (Development of the Decision-Making System for National Highway Pavement Management)

  • 현재 우리나라 일반국도의 포장관리시스템(PMS: Pavement Management System)은 세계은행(World Bank)이 주도한 HDM (Highway Development and Management)-4를 사용하여 유지보수 의사결정의 기초 자료로 사용하고 있으나, 과다한 입력변수와 모형의 불확실성 등으로 인해 국내 실정에 적합한 경제성 분석모형이 필요하게 되었으며, 대부분의 선진국의 경우에는 각 지역과 국가에 맞는 PMS 시스템을 구축하여 운영하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우리나라 실정에 맞고 효율적인 국도의 도로 및 포장관리를 위한 의사결정시스템을 개발하기 위한 연구로써 시스템 개발에 필요한 구성요소, 공용성 모형 개발, 각 요소별 활용가능한 원단위, 기준 등의 지표 정의 및 종류, 특성들을 분석, 정리하고 경제성 평가를 통해 최적 의사결정을 위한 시스템(S/W) 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 포장관리를 위해 개발한 의사결정시스템의 구성요소는 크게 1)도로, 교통, 사회경제 지표 등의 DB, 2) 도로포장상태의 공용성 모형, 3)도로포장상태에 따른 차량속도변화 모형, 4)경제성 평가 모형, 5) 의사결정지원 시스템으로 구성되며, 개발된 시스템의 검증을 위해 사례 구간을 대상으로 한 분석결과도 함께 제시하였다. 그러나 장래 확률적 특성을 고려한 공용성 모형의 개발과 의사결정을 위한 지표 개발에 대해서는 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

아파트내 어린이 놀이터 포장재의 선호도에 관한 연구 - 전주시를 중심으로 - (A Study on Preference of Pavement Materials for Children's outing Playground in Apartment Complex - With Focus on Jeonju City -)

  • In this study this writer carried out survey and analysis on paving materials of children's playground for 40 apartment buildings with each of such apartment containing 100 households or more and which were built within last 15 years in Jeonju. As a result of analysis of such questionnaires this author could draw following conclusion. In the second half of 1990s pavement materials which were used mainly were sand and during first half of 2000s they were mixture of sand and rubber block and around 2010 they were rubber block or rubber chip pavements. Such change seemed to be a result of consideration of convenience for management and safety rather than in deference to diversity of children's outing places. Survey on the current status of pavement materials revealed need for directives by the main entity for management and their firm resolve for its implementation. And there was need for their coping with problems such as pressure of treading or lack of it or poor condition of drainage in case of sand and phenomena of pitting or dipping down, discoloring and poor drainage in case of rubber chips and rubber blocks and loosening of gaps between rubber blocks etc. Result of analysing status of usage disclosed that 50.4% of the respondents to questionnaires stated that they had experience of accidents. With regard to cause of such accident it was found that 47.5% of accidents were attributable to play facilities and 19.5% were due to paving (floor) materials thus it was disclosed that not only play facilities but also pavement materials had impact on safety for the children. Result of analysing level of satisfaction with pavement materials showed that pavement by rubber chips and blocks had higher level of satisfaction which was reflection of fear on cleanness of sand. In terms of preference rubber chip and rubber block pavements were highest and the next one was sand. Reason for such preference was based on concern with safety.

교차로 포장 소성변형 저감을 위한 해석적 연구 (An Analytical Study to Reduce Plastic Deformation in Intersection Pavements)

  • PURPOSES : Plastic deformation is frequently made in intersection asphalt pavement at its early age due to deceleration and stoppage of vehicles. This study has been performed to provide a mechanistic basis for reasonable selection of paving method to minimize the plastic deformation at intersection. METHODS : Pavement layer, temperature, traffic volume of the intersections managed by the Daejeon Regional Construction and Management Administration were collected to calculate asphalt dynamic modulus with pavement depth by using a prediction equation suggested by the Korean pavement design guide. Performance of ordinary dense-graded asphalt pavement, polymer modified asphalt pavement, and fiber reinforced asphalt pavement was analyzed by finite element method and the results were used in a performance model to predict the plastic deformation. RESULTS : In aspect of performance, the three paving methods were usable under low traffic while the fiber reinforced asphalt pavement was the most suitable under heavy traffic. CONCLUSIONS : Reasonable paving method suitable for traffic characteristics in the intersection might be decided by considering economic feasibility.

Geotechnical problems in flexible pavement structures design

  • Deformability of road pavements in the form of ruts represent a safety risk for road users. In the procedures for dimensioning the pavement structure, the requirement that such deformations do not occur is imperatively included, which results in the appropriate selection of elements (material, geometry) of the pavement structure. Deformability and functionality, will depend of the correct design of pavement structure during exploitation period. Nevertheless, there are many examples where deformations are observed on the pavement structure, in the form of rutting at parts of the road with relatively short length, realised in the same climatic and the same geoenvironmental conditions. The performed analysis of deformability led to the conclusion that the level of deformation is a function of the speed of traffic. This effect is observed on city roads, but also outside of urban areas at roads with speed limits are significant, due to the traffic management, traffic jams (intersections, etc.). Still, the lower speed cause greater deformations. The authors tried to describe the deformability of flexible pavement structures, from the aspects of geotechnical problems, as a function of driving speed. Outcome of the analysis is a traffic load correction coefficient, in terms of using the existing methods of flexible pavement structures design.
