  • The GPS can provide accurate position information on the earth. But GPS receiver can't give position information inside buildings. DR(Dead-Reckoning) or INS(Inertial Navigation System) gives position information continuously indoors as well as outdoors, because they do not depend on the external navigation information. But in general, the inertial sensors severely suffer from their drift errors, the error of these navigation system increases with time. GPS and DR sensors can be integrated together with Kalman filter to overcome these problems. In this paper, we developed a personal navigation system which can be carried by person, using GPS and electronic pedometer. The person's footstep is detected by an accelerometer installed in vertical direction and the direction of movement is sensed by gyroscope and magnetic compass. In this case the step size is varying with person and changing with circumstance, so determining step size is the problem. In order to calculate the step size of detected footstep, the neural network method is used. The teaming pattern of the neural network is determined by human walking pattern data provided by 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope. We can calculate person's location with displacement and heading from this information. And this neural network method that calculates step size gives more improved position information better than fixed step size.

  • The domain model pattern which belongs to enterprise architecture patterns has reusability, scalability and maintainability. To use the domain model pattern, mapping with persistency layer, transaction management and various services are needed. This paper proposes that relationship management service to solve a consistency error which arises in case of removing domain objects. The proposed relationship management service monitors methods of domain objects and intercepts the flow of control to solve the reference errors. This service is implemented by using AOP(Aspect-Oriented Programming), so it can provide the service without modifications of domain objects and other services.

  • In this paper, we develop a new system to estimate the step count for a smartphone user. The system analyzes data obtained from the accelerometer, magnetic sensor, and gyroscope of an android smartphone to extract pattern information of human steps. We conduct an experiment and evaluation to confirm that the proposed system successfully estimates the number of steps with 96% accuracy when hand-held and 95.5% accuracy when in-pocket. In addition, we found that detection errors were caused by human motions such as touching the screen, shaking the device up and down, sitting up and sitting down, and waving the phone around.

  • One approach for very high speed korean morphological analysis is to use pre-built morphological results in dictionary. It pays the high cost to build this morphological pattern dictionary manually, besides the dictionary may contain errors. This paper proposes a method to generate morphological patterns automatically using Korean morphological synthesis. The experiment shows that we automatically generate 86% morphological patterns for analyzing Korean sentences. It takes 52.68 seconds for the morphological system using the patterns to analyze 403MB Korean corpus on 2.8GHz Window system.

  • Overlap Errors and side-lobes have been simultaneously solved by the rule-based correction using the rules extracted from test patterns. Lithography process parameters affecting attPSM lithography process have been determined by the fitting method to the real process data. The correction using scattering bars has been compared to the Cr shield method. The optimal insertion rule of the scattering bal's has made it possible to suppress the side-lobes and to enhance DOF at the same time. Therefore, in this paper, the solution to both side-lobe and overlap Error has been proposed using rule-based confection. Compared to the existing Cr shield method, the proposed rule-based correction with scattering bars can reduce the process complexity and time for mask production.

  • With the advent of the 4-th industrial revolution, manufacturing companies have increasing interests in the realization of smart manufacturing by utilizing their accumulated facilities data. However, most previous research dealt with the structured data such as sensor signals, and only a little focused on the unstructured data such as text, which actually comprises a large portion of the accumulated data. Therefore, we propose an association rule mining based facility error pattern extraction framework, where text data written by operators are analyzed. Specifically, phrases were extracted and utilized as a unit for text data analysis since a word, which normally used as a unit for text data analysis, is unable to deliver the technical meanings of facility errors. Performances of the proposed framework were evaluated by addressing a real-world case, and it is expected that the productivity of manufacturing companies will be enhanced by adopting the proposed framework.

  • The transient nature and complex geometries of two-phase gas-liquid flows cause fundamental difficulties when measuring flow velocity using an electromagnetic flowmeter. Recently, a current-sensing flowmeter was introduced to obtain measurements with high temporal resolution (Ahn et al.). In this study, current-sensing flowmeter theory was applied to measure the fast velocity transients in slug flows. The velocity fields of axisymmetric gas-liquid slug flow in a vertical pipe were obtained using Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method, and the virtual potential distributions for the electrodes of finite size were also computed using the finite volume method for simulating slug flow. The output signal prediction for slug flow was carried out from the velocity and virtual potential (or weight function) fields. The flowmeter was numerically calibrated to obtain the cross-sectional liquid mean velocity at an electrode plane from the predicted output signal. Two calibration parameters are proposed for this procedure: a flow pattern coefficient and a localization parameter. The flow pattern coefficient was defined by the ratio of the liquid resistance between the electrodes for two-phase flow with respect to that for single-phase flow, and the localization parameter was introduced to avoid errors in the flowmeter readings caused by liquid acceleration or deceleration around the electrodes. These parameters were also calculated from the computed velocity and virtual potential fields. The results can be used to obtain the liquid mean velocity from the slug flow signal measured by a current-sensing flowmeter.

  • In protein 2-DE image analysis, the accuracy of spot-matching operation which identifies the spot of the same protein in each 2-DE gel image is intensively influenced by the errors caused by the various experimental conditions. This paper proposes an efficient method to find more accurate spot-matching patterns based on multiple reference gel images in spot-matching pattern analysis in protein 2-DE image analysis. Additionally, in order to improve the reduce the execution time which is increased exponentially along with the increasing number of gel images, a "partition then extension" framework is used to find spot-matching pattern of long length and of higher accuracy. In the experiments on real 2-DE images of human liver tissue are used to confirm the accuracy and the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.

  • Rough classification methods are used to improving the recognition speed in many character recognition problems. In this case, some irreversible result can occur by an error in rough classification. Methods for duplicating each model in several classes are used in order to reduce this risk. But the errors by rough classfication can not be completely ruled out by these methods. In this paper, an recognition method is proposed to increase speed that matches models selectively without any increase in error. This method constructs a model graph using similarity between models. Then a search process begins from a particular point in the model graph. In this process, matching of unnecessary models are reduced that are not similar to the input pattern. In this paper, the proposed method is applied to the recognition problem of handwriting numbers and upper/lower cases of English alphabets. In the experiments, the proposed method was compared with the basic method that matches all models with input pattern. As a result, the same recognition rate, which has shown as the basic method, was obtained by controlling the out-degree of the model graph and the number of maintaining candidates during the search process thereby being increased the recognition speed to 2.45 times.
