Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting the quality of life of family caregivers of patients with Parkinson disease in Korea. Methods: A total of 162 family caregivers of patients with Parkinson disease who were visiting the D hospital in B city completed questionnaires, including general and disease-specific characteristics, family burden, patient-caregiver relationship satisfaction, family support and quality of life. Data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA with $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 23.0. Results: The average score of the quality of life was $85.54{\pm}17.74$ (range: 26~130) among family caregivers of patients with Parkinson disease. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that fifty percent of the quality of life was explained by family support, family burden, and patient-caregiver relationship satisfaction. Conclusion: Family support, family burden, and patient-caregiver relationship satisfaction were identified as factors affecting the quality of life of family caregivers of patients with Parkinson disease. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a program to enhance family support and reduce family burden to improve the quality of life of family members caring for patients with Parkinson disease.
The purpose of this study was to assess the user's satisfaction of health care service in public health centers in Busan. The study respondents were 212, those who visited health centers for health care service. Data were collected in July 2002 by using SERVQUAL(comprehensive service quality measurement scale) and 3 open questions for more details about service satisfaction and the needs for health care service. SERVQUAL has 5 dimensions; tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. The results were as follows : 1. The users reported more satisfaction at 'just service cost', 'convenient service procedure' and 'clean physical environment' at SERVQUAL. Among them the highest rated item was 'service cost'. And the less satisfaction items were 'understanding and individual concerns about service users', 'medical equipment' and 'health center facilities'. 2. There were no statistical differences by general characteristics except for the kind of services rendered. Those who visited for physical examinations and laboratory tests reported lower satisfaction than any other groups. 3. At the open questions, the respondents expressed that they were satisfied with the low service cost, kindness of employee and clean environment. But they criticized the old facilities and worn medical equipment, in addition to the less than kind attitudes. These strengths and weaknesses of health center's service could be applied for planning of customercentered health care service.

Purpose: This study aims to identify the effects of mobile web-based COVID-19 isolation hospitalization management training on patient's uncertainty, anxiety, and nursing education satisfaction. Methods: Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 isolation rooms from August to October 2021, in Medical Center B which is an infectious disease dedicated hospital located in metropolitan city B were included. The total number of subjects was 142, of which 71 were the experimental group and 71 the control group. As an experimental treatment, a total of 5 minutes and 35 seconds of mobile web-based education were provided to the experimental group three times, including the day of, the first day of, and the second day of hospitalization. Existing training conducted on the control group was provided by the nurses in charge of the ward through oral explanation using printed materials. The data were analysed using the IBM SPSS/WIN 26.0 program. Results: Significant differences were observed between the two groups in pre-and post-assessment of uncertainty scores (t=-22.92, p<.001), anxiety scores (t=-15.03, p<.001) and nursing education satisfaction score (t=11.61, p<.001). Conclusion: As a result of the above, mobile web-based education can be used as an effective educational medium in nursing practice to improve the work efficiency and quality of nursing care and contribute to improving the patient's educational satisfaction.
Background : In these days, the health care organizations have concerned about customer-centered care in order to empower the competitiveness on the health care markets. The departments working for quality management of the hospitals have used health care quality indicators in terms of medical areas as well as service areas of the hospitals. However, there were insufficient efforts to develop the credible measurement to seek the customers' needs, their expectations and their satisfaction levels related to health care services because various kinds of challenges were in the process of scale development to measure customers' satisfaction in health care. The purpose of this study was to develop the satisfaction scale to health care services in a Korea health care organization and to test its tool with validity and reliability. Method : The concept of this tool was acceptability that one of the components of health care quality defined by Donabedian. Acceptability has the five dimensions of concept: Accessibility; Patient-Practitioner Relations; Amenities; Patient Preferences as to the effects of care; and Patient Preferences as to the costs of care. The Satisfaction Tool to Health Care Services was reviewed by expert panel with five researchers, including hospital managers and a professor related to quality management of the hospitals. As a result, the content validity index was .84 in the outpatient satisfaction tool. The inpatient satisfaction tool had .87 of the content validity index. The Satisfaction Tools to Health Care Services finally consisted of 44 items for outpatients/their families and of 60 items for inpatients/their families. Study subjects of the construct validity test were 479 outpatients/their families and 561 inpatients/their families who visited or admitted at a University hospital from July 1, 1996 through August 10, 1996. The data were examined by Factor Analysis with SPSS. Result : The items of Satisfaction tools for outpatients/their families were categorized by eleven factors with eigenvalue greater than 1.0 accounting for 64.2 percent of the variation in item scores. Also, the items of inpatient tool had eleven factors with eigenvalue greater than 1.0 accounting for 60.3 percent of the variation in item scores. The reliability of overall scale were .95 and .96 for the outpatients/their families satisfaction scores and inpatient/their families satisfaction scores. The internal consistency reliability with eleven factors was ranged from .30 to .94 for inpatients/their families. The Satisfaction Tool with eleven factors for inpatients/their families had internal consistency reliability ranged from .53 to .89. Conclusion : The Satisfaction Tools to Health Care Services focused on outpatients/their families and inpatients/their families developed in this study had a high reliability and the strong evidence of content validity and construct validity based on quality concept. Therefore, this tool would be utilized as a credible quality indicator of health care services to assess the quality problems and to monitor the quality improvement activities in Korean Health Care Organizations.
Purpose: Pain management in burn treatment is important in improving wound healing and quality of life. Ibuprofen is a proven pain relieving agent in patients with partial thickness burn by intraveous injection. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Biatain Ibu® (polyurethane foam containing ibuprofen) in pain control for outpatients with partial thickness burns. Methods: A prospective randomized clinical trial was performed in outpatients with partial thickness burn from August 1, 2017 to July 31, 2018. Acute pain, chronic pain, complications, days for re-epithelialization and patient's satisfaction were compared between Biatain Ibu® and Biatain® groups. Results: A total of 20 patients (Biatain Ibu®, n=10; Biatain®, n=10) were assessed in the trial. On Burn days 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, the acute pain levels were significantly lower in the Biatain Ibu® group than in the Biatain® group. Complications, chronic pain levels and days for re-epithelialization were not significantly different between the two groups. Patient's satisfaction was not statistically significant but was higher in the Biatain Ibu® group. Conclusion: Biatain Ibu® is effective in relieving pain in outpatients with partial thickness burn without decreasing patient satisfaction, wound healing ability or developing any complications.

Advances in healthcare technology and rapid economic growth lead to the increased life expectancy and consequently the size of elderly population. Korea is one of the countries that are rapidly aging. Thus, it is particularly important to prepare for the aging society. Recently, the number of healthcare institutions for the elderly citizens has increased. The purpose of selecting a hospital for the elderly is, in general, maintenance of health rather than improvement of health receiving proper treatment. Unlike choosing a hospital for treatment, customers of a long term care hospital have a different set of factors to consider. Especially, when choosing a long term care hospital, the influence of patient's family is greater than the patient. This study examines the factors they consider for long term care hospital. A total of 198 questionnaires were collected from the families of actual patients of long term care hospitals. Twelve questionnaires were found to be non-usable because of missing and unsatisfactory responses. Consequently, 186 questionnaires were used for the analyses. Findings of this study are as follows. First, seven factors have been identified to consider when choosing a long term care hospital for the elderly. They include convenience of facilities, costs variety of facility programs, service hours, reputation, accessibility, quality of medical staff, medical facilities, and facility size. Second, This study measured both importance and satisfaction with these attributes and analyzed the difference between them. Satisfaction was lower than importance in the categories of convenience of facilities, costs, and programs, and accessibility. On the other hand, satisfaction was higher in terms of service hours, reputation, and quality of medical staff. Finally, the current study found positive impact of accessibility and quality of medical staff on reuse intention of a long term care hospital.

PURPOSE. The aim of this systematic review is to address treatment outcomes of Mandibular implant overdentures relative to implant survival rate, maintenance and complications, and patient satisfaction. MATERIALS AND METHODS. A systematic literature search was conducted by a PubMed search strategy and hand-searching of relevant journals from included studies. Randomized Clinical Trials (RCT) and comparative clinical trial studies on mandibular implant overdentures until August, 2010 were selected. Eleven studies from 1098 studies were finally selected and data were analyzed relative to number of implants. RESULTS. Six studies presented the data of the implant survival rate which ranged from 95% to 100% for 2 and 4 implant group and from 81.8% to 96.1% for 1 and 2 implant group. One study, which statistically compared implant survival rate showed no significant differences relative to the number of implants. The most common type of prosthetic maintenance and complications were replacement or reattaching of loose clips for 2 and 4 implant group, and denture repair due to the fracture around an implant for 1 and 2 implant groups. Most studies showed no significant differences in the rate of prosthetic maintenance and complication, and patient satisfaction regardless the number of implants. CONCLUSION. The implant survival rate of mandibular overdentures is high regardless of the number of implants. Denture maintenance is likely not inflenced substantially by the number of implants and patient satisfaction is typically high again regardless os the number of implants.
Objectives: This study was done to compare patient satisfaction and hospital charges of surgery performed in an outpatient basis(ambulatory surgical procedures). Methods : This retrospective study was performed in 20(vitrectomy 11, tonsillectomy 9) randomly selected ambulatory surgical procedures patients and 50(vitrectomy 26, tonsillectomy 24) inpatients who. received the same procedure at a general hospital in Seoul since January 1, 1998 to October 31, 1998. The operative procedures were vitrectomy and tonsilletomy which could be performed on a ambulatory surgical procedures basis or on an inpatient basis. Results: The results of this study shows that the patients thought the expenses and the surgical operative time was an important factor in a ambulatory surgical procedures but there were no differences in the patient satisfaction by the method of surgery. The charges of vitrectomy and tonsilletomy were reduced up to 495,000 won and 380,000 won from l,589,000 won 842,000 won inpatient surgery respectively. Conclusions: This study focused only on the charges of the surgical procedures and did not include the cost of patient helper, the lost salary due to missing days of work to care for a member of the family, transportation costs, and other indirect costs. Therefore, if those fees were included, ambulatory surgical procedures would be more economical. Therefore, by giving incentives at the fee schedule, the government health policies it would reduce the total hospital charges.
